Named after the Hussite leader Jan Zizka, winner of a historic battle against invading forces in 1420, this is an eastern suburb. A huge equestrian statue commemorates Zizka on Vitkov Hill, where the Communist-era National Monument (1927–32) symbolizes the Czech struggle for independence. Franz Kafka and the anti-Communist martyr Jan Palach lie buried in the extensive Olsany Cemeteries.

The hotel was convenient to all transportation. My only real disappointment was that I had to pay for the internet. About 4 euros a day. I just went to KFC instead and had a coffee and used the internet for free. There was a plumbing problem in our first room because of mold and terrible smell. The second room was fine. This is a terrific budget hotel. Don't let your predispositions influence your opinion, though. This place is ten times better than anything that you would find in the states for twice the money. The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. The free breakfast is tasty, fresh and plentiful. The access to downtown Prague is quick and easy - the #9 tram […] is right outside the door, runs every 7 minutes, and gets you downtown to the sights, shopping, everything in 10 minutes. "Noise by the street"
The room was clean. The water in the shower room didn't go very fast when we took showers so we didn't feel very comfortable about that. The hotel is by the street. It's convenient to take the tram. Since it's in the corner of a crossroad, trams reduced speed and increased speed when making a right turn. There are lot's of trams. The midnight noise […] was very annoying. "Stayed for ~8 hours until the flight -- good!"
We checked out of the hotel we stayed in for our four day visit in Prague in the morning, but our flight was only at midnight. Because we wanted a place to rest for the day, I found this hotel when sorting by price. It's about 6 or 7 stops on the train from the hotel we stayed in, but that's not far at all -- it's the equivalent of five or even four […] stops on the New York subway. The hotel itself is very nice: clean, polite and helpful staff, great. If you're on a budget, this is definitely a good solution. "You get what you pay for..."
The hotel is a good bargain. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. The receptionists were very helpful and they spoke good english. The room itself was pretty small. There were lots of stains on the carpert. There was no cups, coffee, or any of that in the rooms. Also my husband went looking for ice and found out there were no ice machines. We only stayed for one night before travelling to Berlin. The hotel was clean, as were the rooms. The staff were very helpful and could speak English, which was a great help. "Good hotel for money"
The hotel was good. It took 15 mins by tram from the city center but the tram stop is right outside the hotel so it is really convenient. The rooms are clean although they should do something about the ventilation system in the toilets. We had to leave the windows open (we were on the second floor) when we went out to make sure that the room smelled […] fresh when got back. Breakfast is between 07-10 but they remove all food around 09:40. So one had to be early to get food at all. That was surprising. "Superb stay every time"
hotel vitkov is a superb budget hotel. Well located close to town by tram, which is both cheap and quick. The hotel itself is very clean and pleasant to stay in. The breakfast is not as strong, perhaps a muesli instead of plain oats would be better and guests with healthy lifestyle will possibly have only oats with yoghurt and some fruit and water. […] Neither the juices nor the hot drinks are of great quality. That said, there really is no reason to complain for the price. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The night receptionist that checked me on was very kind and upgraded me from single occupancy room to double because the double one had a better internet connection an this was crucial for me. This would be one thing to be addressed by the management. Both the hotel's and expedia website say there is free wifi anywhere in the hotel, thou this is not true. The wifi costs 100 Czk per 24 hours, which is just over £3 or 50 Czk for 2 hours and is a acceptable speed, but this should be stated on the site and is misleading. Comfortable rooms, quiet at night even though we had a window facing a busy street. Buffet breakfast just ok for a night or two. 30min walk from the center, but buses and trams stops just outside the hotel. Hi all, I can recommend you this hotel. Cheap,but very pleasant: really big rooms (about 25 m2), WC and bathrooms are separated (never seen at 3* hotel!) good bad and nice breakfast. Sprchový kout moc netěsní a z odpadu ve sprchovém koutu se rozlévala nevábná vůně po celé koupelně a i do pokoje. Dveře do koupelny museli být zavřené a pokoj jsem musel vyvětrat.. Přitom v koupelně je funkční odsávání, které nicméně na ten […] puch nepomohlo. S těmi odpady by měli něco udělat. Možná tam chybí sifon nebo něco takového.
