Named after the Hussite leader Jan Zizka, winner of a historic battle against invading forces in 1420, this is an eastern suburb. A huge equestrian statue commemorates Zizka on Vitkov Hill, where the Communist-era National Monument (1927–32) symbolizes the Czech struggle for independence. Franz Kafka and the anti-Communist martyr Jan Palach lie buried in the extensive Olsany Cemeteries.

"Vitkov, good choice"
I am choice Vitkov because one other hotel Beta Pension cancelled my booking for only their knowing reasons. I was winner, because Vitkov is really really good hotel. Staff is wonderful! My trip was business trip and there are good connections with all main transport lines. Jus i would be adviced to hotel change direction advice from airport, because […] at night as i came is difficult to find tram No9 from Flora underground station. Better iis to go to Florenc underground station (you have to undergound green line to red line) and from Florence take a buss no 133 till hotel (i forgot station Nr, but you have to ask hotel service, they are very helpful). Its more easy way how to come and by the way you dont need with heavy bags going up and down without elevator. I am advice to buy as kleast 1 or 3 days transport ticket in airport. Hotel rooms at first moment are clean but this service they dont do every day (seems that), just take out garbadge and change towels. Linen wasnt changed for all 4 days. TV is old, not flat screen. No free Wi-Fi, but price for usinh arent high. Restaurant is good, breakfast have enough variety. In front of hotel is as well tram No9 and you can access easy Old town. В основном все очень неплохо! Была проблемка 1 день с уборкой и сменой полотенец! А так все хорошо! Завтрак хороший! Вокруг достаточно много магазинов с продуктами недорогих и в пределах 100 метров недорогие пункты питания -вкусно и качественно! Если ехать еще то туда! "Ok hotel."
Fint og billig hotel. Det er dog dyrt år parkere og benytte internet. Parkering 10 euro i en meget lille bås. Internettet er så langsomt at det var hurtigere at gå på nettet vi mobilen. Men servicen var god og personalet venlige. Maden i restauranten er af kulinarisk høj stand, men dyrt i forhold til Tjekkiske priser, da kvantiteten er ganske begrænset. Hyggelig personale som ordna innsjekk for meg idet jeg ankom 5-6 timer før innsjekkingstid. Rommet var ikke ordentlig rengjort. Sluket på badet var delvis tett. Internett fungerte ikke på rommet, selv om det var satt opp WiFi-routere rundt forbi på hotellet. Generell lav standard, sett med vesteuropeiske øyne, men helt greit sted å bo dersom du f.eks.
