The few things I look for in a hotel room are cleanliness, quiet and location. We stayed at Ridges for four nights in August 2012 and it ticked each of the boxes. We stayed with two other couples and all of our rooms were spotless but two of our rooms were not recently refurbished - probably last renovated in the 1990's. The other room was recently […] renovated and looked beautiful. It seemed to be luck of the draw to get the recently renovated rooms as all our rooms were on the same floor and close togther. Location wise - this hotel is close to Lygon St (food) and a short tram ride away from the CBD (food, shops and a railway station). Would definately stay at this hotel again! Read more

First rate accommodation at a reasonable price. The Hotel is clean; comfortable, with all amenities and friendly approachable staff. Excellent breakfast included. Close to galleries, restaurants and the State Library; within walking distance of CBD, Federation Square, The Yarra River and Flinders St Station. Highly recommended.

Hatter reading so many negative reviews just before I'd arrived with my partner, I wad immensely worried. But let metell you, the staff were immensely friendly, the pool was absolutely sensational and the queen spa suite was great value for money. O ly negative thing was the fact that there was no kitchen. Ut the staff were so friendly and provided […] us with plates or anything we needed upon request, no matter what time of night! In terms of location, I was able to take a quick five minute stroll up the road and found myself either on Lygon st or I. The city, so I wasn't really fussed about the kitchen as the variety was sensational. Additionally, that in room jacuzzi and the outdoor pool were the cherry on top. I would definitely recommend this place to people, not sure about the other rooms as i havent seen them but the queen spa suite was definitely well worth the trip. Read more

Have stayed in Rydges motels in a number of Australian cities now. Always happy with service and rooms and that's why we selected to stay here. Everyone friendly and helpful and accommodation in great position...close to every place we wanted to go.

I've stayed here a number of times now. The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable. Free WiFi is a great plus. The bathroom decor is a bit dated and a sliding screen would help keep the floor dry. Great location in Carlton, right next the the University, on a good tram run for the city centre and beyond. Its only a small rydges hotel and we stayed in two adjoining twin rooms. The rooms were a good size for the price we paid. Housekeeping services were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, less than 10 minutes to Flinders Street Station, less than 5 to the Victoria Markets and a short safe walk to Lygon Street for great meals […] and ice cream. We enjoyed our stay here mainly because it was not right in the city centre although it was within walking distance. Transport was very close if you wanted to catch a tram or the free bus which we did to St Kilda and to the Melbourne Zoo. Lygon St was absolutely wonderful and a little mecca of eateries. Très bonne situation, à 10 min à pied du gros centre d'activité touristique, ou à 1 min en tramway. L'arrêt est juste devant l'hôtel, et il y a en 1 toutes les 2 min environs. L'accueil est excellent et les chambres confortables. Il y a eu un problème d'évacuation dans la salle de bain, et le personnel nous a de suite placé dans une chambre de catégorie […] supérieure pour toute la durée de notre séjour. La salle de sport est fonctionnelle, la piscine et le jacuzzi sur le toit sont les bienvenus, et il y a un parking souterrain qui coute bien moins cher que si on gare notre voiture dans la rue... De plus nous n'avons pas entendu de bruit la nuit: l'isolation phonique est donc bonne. On recommande! Read more
