"Gold Country Gold"
Off the main roads, so the room was quiet. We were given a room near the pool, but since we stayed in the wintertime, it was not a problem. I thought this hotel was a good affordable option to visit Nevada City/Grass Valley. Although you had to commute to either town it was stil close, well maintained and comfortable. We stay here because it is very close to relatives. There us very bad lighting in the rooms. There is an overhead light in the rooms that gives a very odd glow. The rooms are very clean but dark and dated. But the location is great and access to the freeway is easy. There is a comp. breakfast.....but there is a Starbucks across the street and a bakery. "Ask for a room that doesn't back up to the freeway"
The only reason why I didn't rate the hotel with all 5's is because the room was right next to the freeway and a fair amount of noise could be heard. The gap under the door was too big so we stuffed it with a towel. We asked to change rooms but the front desk said they were full and it was only 3 PM. The hotel was great but I will never use hotels.com again to book anything. When we got to the hotel at 11pm, they didn't have our reservation info correct. We wanted a King bed, non-smoking. The room they had saved for us based on the little info given by hotels.com was a Queen bed, Smoking. It wouldn't be such a big deal except my husband has bad […] asthma and couldn't even sleep in that smoke smelling room. "Right between Grass Valley and Nevada City"
The hotel was located right between Grass Valley and Nevada City, with really easy freeway access but no noise. It's located next to the Highway Patrol station, so it's probably pretty safe too. The shopping center across the street also made it easy to get coffee, breakfast and groceries. I came to the Best Western Grass Valley to attend and participate in the KVMR Celtic Festival. I didn't have musch time to spend at the hotel. After day 1 of the fest, I checked in and things went smoothly. I got a comfortable room right across from the pool. My wife and I went to old town Grass Valley to walk around and have aglass of wine. There are […] at least three strip mall commercial areas within walking distance. Old Town is 3 exits doen the freeway. The Nevada County Fairgrounds is a short drive. Directly across from the hotel is Paulette's for a ghood breakfast, and 1 block further is Perko's so getting food is easy. PLus, Old Town has some nice dining options.
