"Disappointed"
After much anticipation of our stay at the Empress, Victoria, we were very disappointed in the rooms. Our room felt closet like. While we realize this is a heritage property the rooms are in sore need of updating and repair. The floor squeaked as well as it felt like the floor boards were falling apart under the carpet outside of the bathoom. There […] are ways to update/upgrade buildings while maintaining the integrity of heritage. The bed however, was comfortable. For the quality of the room we felt it was extremely overpriced. Will not stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient Opulence"
The Empress is a grand old hotel, not generally my style, but beautiful nonetheless. Th room was fine. I had requested one king bed instead of 2 doubles but was stuck with the two beds. Fine, the rate was cheap, the location is excellent, the beds were comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Easy check-in. They allowed us an early check-in which made it easier to get ready for my business meetings, and without and challenges arranged for a late check-out the next day, allowing a stretch of the leisure part of our stay. Pool was fantastic and open till 1am. Parking was expensive but I knew it based on info from Hotels.ca and was expecting […] it. Having drinks in the Bengal lounge was great (albeit expensive) but felt like a true 'colonial' experience. Weather was fantastic and the location of the hotel was perfect to enjoy everything that the Inner Harbour and Downtown Victoria had to offer - all within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again if I get a discounted rate (their regular rate + parking is a tad above my comfort level). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
