"Nice Super 8, noisy room"
The room was clean and tidy (with multiple electrical outlets which is can be very rare in rooms. The downside was that the room faced west (on the 2nd floor) where Douglas Street and Burnside Drive intersect so there was steady din of car, truck and bus noises. The air conditioner/heater was a window unit that was really loud. So combined it was a […] very very noisy room. We did not complain however because we were so late (and tired) plus we did not come to Victoria for the lodging. In a nutshell we survived a noisy hotel room. We have stayed here 3 - 4 times in the past and chose it again. The rooms are small but tastefully decorated. Breakfast is included. In addition there is a good restaurant in the hotel. This is a really old hotel and is not very nice. It is quite clean but the parking lot was full of garbage, there was garbage under the stairs so visual entering is awful. I recommend a quick check of these places as well as drawers/cupboards before your kids find them. The best part about our stay here was te spoons diner. "Afternoon and evening noise."
The hotel was very noisy this visit. There seemed to be a wrestling match going on above us in the afternoon and well into the evening. Perhaps 4 members of a swim team were in the room? The hotel was dated, the furniture was old and crappy, the bathroom counter formica was peeling off because the chipboard underneath had swelled up, but that wasn't the worst part. In the middle of the night they place a sign on the unlocked front door stating that the reception desk is unmanned and to call if you want to reach them. Our expereince was pretty decent, elevator is scary, first room we got was a tad dirty but they were very helpful and got a clean asap. Front desk was helpful, they do lock their doors in the latter part of the evening so you may have to wait a few minutes if you are getting in from the Bar.
