"Pros and cons...."
Mike at the front desk and Lucy, the owner of the restaurant were great. Some of the other front desk workers were rude. The rooms are really big with kitchenettes. The Internet is super fast. I didn't understand the hours of the Steakhouse restaurant. It was closed by 9:00 on a Saturday night, leaving us starving with no where to eat without getting […] a cab. I had booked this hotel specifically because it had an on site restaurant. The hallways are tile, so every rolling suitcase that went by the door as people caught early or late flights woke me up. Everything echoed. With a three block walk guests can catch the Canada Line rail into Vancouver. This is a very inexpensive way to get to the port or anywhere in the city. With our lease agreement unfortunately this is the only time we can do wine hosting. "You get a clean bed. That's the good news."
This is an old hotel that acts it. That being said, if you just need a clean bed for the night the 1/2 price (compared to anything decent nearby), is attractive, The one elevator is tiny. I banged my hip into the square corner of the brass railing that juts out near the tiny door. The walkways to the rooms are open to the outside air's ambient temperature […] and moisture. Breakfast in the restaurant is terrible. I did breakfast a second time only because I was in a big hurry to make an appointment. For instance, ham is thinly-sliced sandwich meat and the "sausage" is more like a greasy hot dog. They said I could park underground and access the elevator. I could not... the doors were locked, in contradiction to their comment and the signs. I had to walk all the way around with my bags once I had parked underneath. The shower in my room had a very sensitive control valve. I was either cold or too hot unless I doggedly fiddled with it with micro adjustments. I think the south and east facing rooms will be noisy, due to the major boulevards. Mine faced west (towards a side street), and was moderately noisy from morning traffic. Wi-fi works... slowly. The room was large, but not very clean. The "kitchenette" consisted of a dirty bar fridge, a microwave, and a tiny stove top. All the cupboard doors hung crookedly and the handles were dirty. This is a good basic hole in the wall when you're overnighting between flights. Staff, although not gregarious, are helpful. Rooms have been recently renovated, and are clean.
