"Just Barely met our needs"
My husband and I have stayed twice at the Phoenix Inn because it is close to our son's home. We have decided to stay elsewhere on the next visit. Our concerns: Very poor water pressure in the shower; the continental breakfast was inconsistent. Choices were limited in yogurt and fresh fruit. Eggs: One glance into the prep area- a giant bag of frozen […] omelets was out on the counter and seeing that did not make us want to have any more; Our six year old grandson came to our room and said: 'Grandma, I hate to tell you this but your room looks really old!" "Not a great hotel experience"
We arrived in the afternoon planning on getting ready to attend a wedding. Upon our arrival we had problems with what we thought was the card lock. I went back to the desk, and the gal said "Oh, sorry, I forget to tell you there is a problem with the handle on the door and you need to push it up and not down." My husband got it off, but then when he took a shower, again it would not turn off, but then the faucet broke off. We notified housekeeping and they said OK. "Cheap, cheerful and pet friendly"
This was an inexpensive choice for us while we had work done on our house. The room was okay, the breakfast was free but very cheap. Instant eggs, microwave bacon, instant oatmeal. Sadly, the Seattle's Best Coffee they served was hugely watered down. Having drunk that at work for 9 years I know it is supposed to be 2x what they served. The pool was […] cool - really below acceptable for an indoor pool but the kids swam anyway. The TV was an older CRT set, but the channels were okay. I couldn't find any movie channels though. There were a few ants in the bathroom, which isn't that good. The location is convenient for Sweet Tomatoes buffet and a couple of other places. We we're looking fwd to staying at this hotel because of price n location. Although we were dissappointed with the uncleanliness of the bathroom and sink :( it smelled very bad and there was hair on sinks. One of the sinks was clogged. Put card on bed to not change sheets, beds were not made merely pulled up. Used ice bucket, was not emptied and new plastic bag put in. Air conditioning not working correctly, cooled but even at 65 degrees did not cool properly. In regards to your bedding, I will make sure to address this with our housekeeping staff immediately. With the AC, sometimes if the air outside is colder than it is inside, the automatic thermostat will not draw the cold air in. I will have our maintenance staff address it immediately. Your toilet issue should have been handled better. I will personally address with our front desk staff. We should have offered to take care of it for you! Must say I was disappointed in this hotel. First room I checked into the air conditioner had leaked all over the bedroom floor. I think it'd been like that for a while or had happened before because the room smelled very musty. The front desk was hesitant to find me another room. "Disappointed"
The carpet in the room (328) was filthy, actually did not want to take my shoes off. Had to plunge the toilet numerous times, there was some black mold in the bathroom and the beds do not sit on a cap base, instead you can see under the bed. we did the last check to ensure that nothing was left behind and a quick check under the bed... well as my wife […] said it was disgusting. The continental breakfast was on par with most hotels now. This is one area that gets cut back. My complaint is that the cleverly remove certain items available in the week like the waffle maker and the yogurt. Overall I would not stay there again or recommend the hotel to anyone. Filthy carpets in sleeping rooms and Breakfast room need replacing. Plumbing needs maintenance and upgrade. In our two rooms, both sinks backed up and drained very slowly. The front-desk excuse for inaction was that their "maintenace staff do not work weekends." Het hotel zag er netjes uit, zowel van buiten als van binnen. De essentiële zaken waren OK: de kamer was ruim, de bedden waren goed, het bad was goed, wifi was redelijk tot goed, parkeerruimte voldoende. Echter: - Het uitzicht vanuit de kamer was slecht: alléén de luifel van de entree (daardoor wel veel privacy...). - Het strijkijzer bleek kapot, maar […] na een verzoek aan de receptie om dit te vervangen, kwam er niets. Wij moesten er zelf achteraan en kregen uiteindelijk een andere van de schoonmaker. - Onze kamer werd de eerste dag met schoonmaak overgeslagen: dus geen schone handdoeken en volle afvalemmers! Op dag twee moesten wij zelf achter de schoonmaak aan om dit te voorkomen: uiteindelijk kwam het goed. - Het ontbijt was niet bijzonder: brood was schaars en soms oud. Niet veel keus aan beleg en geen vers fruit. - Het personeel was vriendelijk: sommigen echt en sommigen nep (ingestudeerde gastvrijheid). Dit hotel heeft naar mijn mening weinig aandacht voor zijn core business: de bezoeker een thuisgevoel geven.
