Solara Resort and Spa

Although this resort is beautiful, they had a lot of communication problems with the staff. They were supposed to clean our condo on the 4th day, and though we were out of town, never came the day after to do anything. We requested robes for the spa for 3 days and finally got them. The stove was confusing as it was celsius and not farenheit. It was […] a trial doing the conversions and no one could seem to help us. On a brighter note, The tubshower combo was awesome and so was the Bed. Very comfortable. The kitchen could have been stocked a little better though. On the last day as we were leaving the elevator went out and we had to walk our luggage down 4 flights of stairs. That stunk!!!! All in all the stay was enjoyable. We had a few maintenance issues that never did get resolved but no big deal. The choice to stay at Solara was a great idea with having full kitchen, living room which had two electric fireplaces. The Solara Resort in Canmore was a great place to stay! We enjoyed our 2 bedroom condo with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, kitchen appliances and fantastic shower in the main bathroom. The only complaint that we had was that the cleaning staff was very inconsistent. They obviously did not follow a checklist of items to leave in the room or things […] to check daily. One day the bed was half made, several days they did not replenish the coffee and tea, another day they forgot to leave clean towels. All that we expected each day was fresh towels, coffee and tea, and for the staff to make the beds. We did not care if any other cleaning was done. Our recommendation is for the cleaning staff to receive better training and to follow a daily checklist of things to do in each room. The location of the Solara is excellent - we stayed here for 7 nights and drove daily into Banff National Park and into Kootenay National Park and up to the Icefields Parkway. We loved our vacation in this area! The weather was great and the mountains are gorgeous! Read more

The Solara is a beautiful place, very classy, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. Our only problem was the reliability of the wireless service. I am from Texas and left my cell phone at home, counting on using the wireless to stay in touch with my husband. The first two days, we had wireless, but we were without for the last two days. This […] was my way of communicating with home ( my daughters also), so it was disappointing. It was explained to us that there were so many folks using it that it was unable to keep up. Hotel is very comfortable and ideal for families. Very new and updated. Would recommend better kitchenware (non stick frying pans) and pot scrubbers such as chore boy or SOS as everything would stick to the stainless steel frying pan provided and could not clean it properly. It would be helpful to have a broom and dustpan in room in order to keep things […] clean since there is no maid service until the 4th day. Only other drawback is BBQ on deck is electric and no good, so went to use the BBQs in the common area, but igniters were broken and there was no lighters with the BBQs to light them. Our room was very nice, a home feeling that was quiet even though it was close to a set of train tracks. Other hotels had complaints about the train but I didn't hear a thing. Overall we were very pleased with the experience and recommended it to a lot of people that I am sure will be switching over and using hotel.com

Great place to stay with small families. The indoor spray park, kids pool and hot tub were great for our 3 small kids (ages 5, 2 and 2). There was also a small playground which was great. We never did use the Kids Camps, but hear they were also wonderful with great activities for the kids. LOVED the spa....massage in the mountains....ahhh....:)

We stayed this weekend at the Solara , I think it is under rated in some reviews actually one of the best condo building in the are , modern and sleek. Clean and well organized ,, would rather to have a bigger pool in the facilities , however is perhaps asking too much , great movie theatre and friendly staff.

I have stayed at Solara 3 times over the last couple of years. On my last visit, there was a noticeable drop in the service attitude of the staff. Also, a few of the appliances in the guest room were damaged from use and needed to be replaced. Solara is a great facility, I hope management addresses the ongoing maintenance issues.

Nice condo with complete kitchen. Unfortunately when we tried to cook in the oven it was greasy & black smoke poured out. Otherwise very clean & well furnished. We didn't have time for the spa but would like to go back sometime & try out the facilities. Close to Banff & Lake Louise.

My wife and I stayed at the Solara during the final stages where in construction. Given that not all the amenities were completed, the price reflected that. We received more than the value expected, and the area that the resort is in is quite quiet. It could only been improved by the soon to be spa and restuarant.

The advertisements indicated that there was televisions in each bedroom; this is not true. There is only a television in the childrens (or second bedroom). This television is equipped […] with a DVD player for movies, but the primary television in the living area is not. Light fixtures are sparse in some areas; the bedrooms and bathrooms are quite dark. Despite these shortcomings, the rooms are very clean (complex is new), roomy, attractively finished and well appointed. Suite was equipped with washer and dryer, wine fridge, a very large refrigerator/freezer, range, dishwasher, and dishes. The suite was very quiet althought the hotel was not overly busy. We arrived at the hotel in the wee small hours, so didn't know what was around. First thing in the morning, looked out the window at the Candian Rockies. I could get used to that view. The hotel was clean and way comfortable. A two bedroom suite, one with en-suite, and a huge living space including a kitchenette and even a wine fridge. Also a washer […] and dryer. The resort was still under construction when we stayed, so many of the facilities weren't open but that wasn't a problem as we picked based on location to Banff (20 minutes drive) and the national park (a day trip to the Glacier). There are restaurants and take aways close by, as well as a supermarket if you want to self-cater. Only issue was the previous guests leaving stuff in the dryer - and that was quickly sorted out.
