"great for visit to Jerusalem"
Hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance from the Old City of Jerusalem. The hotel staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants and activiities. The views were excellent. Breakfast buffet was also excellent with a large range of slads, hot dishes, pastries, and local dishes.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Most beautiful and historic hotel in Jerusalem"
My wife and I booked it on a recommendation, we got upgraded to a suite when we got there. "Not a good choice for us...we made a mistake"
We were not aware that breakfast was not included, as all are other hotels did include breakfast. The charge for breakfast was $26.00 each even if we just had coffee. Unfortunitely there is no place near to go for breakfast. I would never stay at this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walking Distance to Old City"
Mt Zion Hotel is within walking distance to the Old City, parks and excellent restaurants on Emek Refiem. The view of the Old City at sunset is breathtaking. It makes you understand the meaning of Jerusalem the City of Gold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good bargain"
Hotel was better than I expected. Front desk staff very helpful at all times. Always at least 3 clerks behind the desk, so no wait to get any question answered or have a taxi called. Location of hotel was excellent, a 10 minute walk to the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. Drug store conveniently 5 minute walk away and a good restaurant and movie theater […] within a 3 minute walk. Breakfast was good, with waffle and omelette station. Juices were too watery and there was no skim milk offered. Dining room staff very attentive. Bathroom was large, modern with excellent shower with strong water spray. Room itself better than average. I really have nothing negative to say about it. I found it a very good value. "Mt. Zion Hotel review"
This hotel is located within walking distance of the Old City. The walk is great exercise down the hill and then up the hill to the Old City. We were within a 15 minute walk to the Western Wall. The views from several vantage points of the hotel are outstanding. The staff was very accomodating and provided nearly anything we asked. The breakfast buffet […] was very good and consistent every morning with a European feel to it with many fresh fruits and unusual choices for Americans. There are many good restaurants within a short distance of the hotel. The German Colony has several good reasonably priced and casual restaurants and of course being within walking distance of the Old City for dining is also a plus. Our room was comfortable not spectacular but we did not plan on spending much time in our room and with all the things to do and see in Israel it was a good call. The work out facilities are OK but the steam room was great. Pool and spa are good. Parking for our rental car was free across the street from the hotel. Occasionally the lot would get pretty full. We spent six nights at the hotel and plan to stay there again when we go back to Israel as six days and nights doesn't give you enough time to see all there is to see in Israel. We can't wait to come back to the Mt. Zion Hotel! My wife and I are in good shape and enjoyed the walk up to the Old City but for some who don't like to walk they may not enjoy the hotel as much as we did. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was a lovely boutique hotel in a beautiful neighborhood. The view from the lobby windows was spectacular. Morning meals were delicious and offered a very large selection of scrumptious food. "Biggest room I've ever seen for the money"
The hotel was very nice, and I was flabbergasted by how large my room was. It is close to Emek Refaim and to the old city, which was my requirement, but when I walked out the door, I realized there's nothing really there! No restaurants or convenience stores or anything like that. It is, however, across the street from free public parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming Hotel"
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. First of all, the decor is exotic and beautiful - you feel like you're in the Near East, not in some chain hotel. Second, the breakfasts are fantastic - HUGE buffets with everything you could want (except meat - it's Kosher Dairy). Third, the staff was very professional and helpful. Fourth, it is a very quick […] walk (15 minutes) to the Jaffa gate, probably the best-known gate to get into the Old City. Fifth, the views of the Old City from the hotel are great - and even if your room doesn't face the Old City, you probably have a pomegranate tree and a palm tree outside your window. Do bring a swimsuit, they have a jacuzzi that you can sit in under the stars and have an unobstructed view of the Old City! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location"
The Mt Zion is located conveniently near the Jaffa Gate to the Old City, and although any walk in Jerusalem can be rather strenuous given the hills, the walk from the Mt. Zion to the Jaffa Gate is doable. The same cannot be said for other area hotels. Staff was friendly, room was fine, buffet breakfast was fantastic. "I don't recommend the Mount Zion Hotel"
Don't stay here if at all sensitive to scent. Walked into a room that had been so heavily sprayed with perfume that it made me feel ill. After 24 hours with windows wide open, it became barely tolerable. Rooms plain; breakfast only fair for Israel; dining hall staff rather rude. I will not stay here again. Also didn't like their wifi policy. I had two […] wifi devices with me and would have had to pay double to use both, even if not simultaneously. Thus I had to shut off the wifi on my iPhone. "From a Repeat Guest"
We like to stay here - there's no view in Jerusalem quite like the one from this hotel, and it is handsome and comfortable on the inside too, though not knock-your-socks-off luxurious. The breakfast is outstanding. But, be forewarned: WiFi on your laptop and on your iPhone will run you two days of extra connection charges ($30) per day, and I found […] it disappointing, and, frankly, petty, that the manager preferred to pocket a few dollars and not adjust the bill to satisfy a customer. we stayed for a wedding... breakfast was really good compared to many other stops in Israel. a/c in the room was finicky and the bathroom sink was stopped up upon arrival, but both were repaired after notification. nice pool, turkish spa was nice but not overwhelming, other spa pay services seemed reasonably priced. $15/day for internet access was a […] bummer. "close to all must see sights"
I was disappointed with my stay at the hotel. The hotel staff where not at all friendly and when asked a specific question would answer with "over there" or "that way" and the room itself for the money in which I paid was not at all of the standard that I would have expected. The food though was very good and well presented.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for exploring the Old City."
This hotel is close to the walled city of Jerusalem and has a history that makes it more interesting. The hotel was originally a hospital and was critical to getting supplies into the old city during the 1920's blockade. We walked from the hotel to the old city everyday during our stay. Now, it's a luxury hotel with many features and comforts. The staff […] was most friendly and welcoming and the towels! The towels are thick and huge - makes a shower feel wonderful! The beds are comfortable and clean. We stayed for six nights in November 2012. Because of the season, the heating was on and air conditioning was not available. We found the rooms too hot, but the staff quickly found a floor fan for us to use. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointing and unkept."
We paid for an upgrading room, and paid quite a lot more for this, however, very disappointed with the room that we received. Although this had a balcony which was a bonus, it was a very basic room and not very large. The room was not deluxe which we were expecting and certainly not worth the extra money that was paid. The room was not very clean and […] furniture needed updating. The breakfast was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. Having walked to the other side of the hotel to the right of the entrance door, the foyer and communal areas were far superior to the left hand side of the hotel, were our side was drab and by the service lift, with an old painted piano stuck at the top of the stairs. The staff were helpful and the bar snacks very good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect spot for the Old City"
Perched on a picturesque hill close to the Jaffa Gate (10 mins walk), the Mount Zion hotel is in a gorgeous location. Rooms are fairly spacious, reasonably up-to-date, though bath fairly small. Breakfast was not the most extensive (compared to other Israeli breakfasts), but really no complaints - and excellent breads, homemade marmalade, lovely cheeses […] and eggs made to order. Staff at the front desk were helpful and well-informed and made our stay just that little bit smoother as well. No hesitation to recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice location, nice shared area; Grandma's house!"
The location and architecture of this hotel is really lovely. All the shared area's of the hotel are wonderful. The flowers around the pool area are beautiful. The rooms are very dated however, this may be a style choice; we commonly referred to it as 'Grandma`s house'. The double bed was two twin's as opposed to be a double, an occasional leg was lost […] down the gap as can happen, for this reason alone I gave 3 points for comfort but my girlfriend was very happy with her bed. I did not find the staff particularly friendly, I would have liked some information on the area, which I asked for and was given but there was no understanding of the needs of new visitors, as an example I would have liked them to mention where the nice hotels where, how to get through the old town and what time you need to get up to join the queue for the temple mount #very early BTW#, none was offered and from an expensive hotel it’s not unreasonable to expect this. Also internet was not included and the business centre was not working so we could not check our flights without paying for a whole day. Tellingly I did not feel comfortable asking the front desk staff if they could check for us. For this reason a +4 rating does not seem justifiable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal for old and new city"
This hotel is a hidden gem facing the old city. It combines old charming buildings with new (so rooms vary) in beautiful gardens with a stunning view (They moved us to get us a bette view). It isn’t one of those international chains so has a special Jerusalem feel that make staying part of the travelling experience. Slightly off the main roads but not […] too far from shops and restaurants and quieter as a result. It’s not the cheapest place but well worth the extra you have the budget. "Attractive hotel with interesting history"
We found the overall design and furnishing of the hotel very interesting, and its history (make sure to see the museum with the cable car). On our first night we found dirty pillowcases in the room, which we had to ask to be replaced. Cleanliness in the bathroom was not great - no-one ever seemed to clean behind the basin, where bits of rubbish were […] lying. The grounds were spacious; some of the sunbeds had seen better days, and were partially broken and did not adjust properly. The hotel is close to the German Colony, with many restaurants. We walked to the Jaffa Gate a few times, but feel it is easier to take a taxi, as rather tiring walking uphill in the heat. Overall we liked the ambience of the hotel, and would stay there again. there were some beggars around hotel area asking money. I gave one some coins but he kept following asking "paper money". A hotel security person said it's ok but the bagger made me very scared. Be careful when you walk around the area from the bridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location, Location, Location!"
This hotel is clean and the citadel rooms are an okay size. The pool is great but open only from 9:00AM until 6 PM. Lifeguard on duty and pool side menu/food was excellent for a reasonable price. We could walk to the Old City and Kotel in 15 minutes from our hotel and could view it from the hotel lobby window. The morning buffet that is included was […] exquisite. Local fruit, veggies, omelettes, hot buffet choices and excellent service. They even had a slice of a honey comb at the buffet to taste fresh honey with your breakfast. If you want to go to the Yad Vashem or the Israel Museum, then a taxi is a must. However, it may only cost 23 Shekels at best with a 20 minute taxi ride. This is not a logistic problem at all because a taxi can always be flagged down right in front of the Mount Zion hotel. The Mount Zion hotel was worth staying at just to be near the Old City in Jerusalem and see it in the day and night time. We walked to the hotel at 12 midnight and there was still so much traffic on the road that it was very safe. I don't recommend the walk with little ones because it is straight up hill to the Holy Old City at the Jaffa Gate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Mt. Zion Hotel - great location, mediocre room."
We stayed one night. Good: - Great location - Building is beautiful - Room (in the old wing of the hotel) is very nice. - AMAZING view from the balcony over the old city. Bad: - The room was connected by a double door to another room, in which a family with small kids stayed. Soundproofing was VERY BAD, so we didn't get the rest we were hoping for. - […] Water pressure in the shower was very low, and the water were barely hot enough. Summary: We expected more comfort for the price we paid. Still not bad, make sure to get a room which is not connected, and check ahead for the shower conditions. "Great potential, but current state is underwhelming."
On the positive side: - Excellent breakfast - Superb views - Quite close to major sights - Public areas are rather nicely decorated - Conveniently located for West Jerusalem - There were, indeed, one or two very helpful members of the staff On the negative side: - We had the misfortune of a rather dirty room (e.g. blood-soaked handkerchief on the floor) - […] Rooms can be rather loud (in particular if your room is near the service entrance - which is true for quite a lot of them - be prepared for a wakeup noise between 7 and 8 am stemming from delivery trolleys being pushed over an uneven floor) - Rooms can become rather warm (be warned not to turn on the "AC", because it is supposed to HEAT the room and has no cooling function) - There appears to be enormous space for improvement in terms of a "service-orientation" of most of the hotel staff - Pool is existing, but not in operation (or at least not in March) - Don't bother turning around seat cushions in the outside areas in the hope of a cleaner side - this has apparently already been tried by hundreds of guests before you.
