I booked this hotel for our first night in Cape Town. Our flight arrived at 11 PM and we did not want to stay out near the airport, but did not want to struggle on our first night trying to navigate through the city to find our hotel. The Upper East Side was a perfect solution - easy 15 minute drive from the airport, easy and reasonable parking, lovely […] bar and restaurant for a nightcap and breakfast, then a 10 minute drive to central Cape Town after a refreshing rest. The service was friendly and professional and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is somewhat remote from the city centre - not easily walkable - and the surrounding area is not equipped for tourists but the hotel itself offers all you need to settle in at night and to get you going in the morning. If you have a car it is easy and quick to get into the centre of town. There is a shuttle to the V&A waterfront but you need to plan your day if you intend to use it because it is not frequent. We needed a hotel close to the airport for a day/overnight for an early flight. There are few hotels near the airport. This served our purposes very well.
