Lady from desk was a mess. Someone was trying to call her to confirm my reservation and she just kept hanging up the call. Even worse she did it in front of me and in top of that I told her that they were calling her but she just kept doing it. Yes, it's relatively new and clean-----but too many things went wrong and weren't fixed: smoking room, when I had paid for non-smoking non-functioning ethernet (who still has ethernet???) in the room, so I had to spend hours in the lobby. there's no restaurant, so you either have to venture out of the hotel for a snack or rely on the vending machines-----which […] were broken the recumbant bicycle broken the remote on the tv didn't work right the AC wouldn't allow just a fan setting, so the room was either too hot or too cold or there was no air circulation somehow several channels (like the weather channel that I rely on) didn't work None of this was horrible. but together it added up to a bad experience, especially since the staff was largely uncaring and uninvolved. When I am looking for a hotel on a budget, I always stay at Hampton Inn. I have never had a bad experience at a Hampton Inn. The hotel was clean, bed was comfortable and hotel staff was very accomdating. We picked this hotel based on the close proximity to LaGuardia. Shuttle service was very efficient. Hotel was extremely clean - beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms was recently re-done with a large shower stall instead of the bathtub / shower combination - very nice! "Fall over and you're at LGA"
This branch of Hampton Inn is consistent with the decent, comfortable, but generally basic level of quality one expects from Hampton Inns. Pleasantly, there were no surprises (other than a minor reservation mis-communication that was remedied immediately upon being brought to their attention). The location couldn't be much more convenient to LGA -- […] I could literally see the control tower from my window, and the shuttle ride to airport is very short. The rate seemed pretty high for a Hampton Inn, but I think that's just the location (ironic, given that the immediate surrounds of LGA aren't exactly a vacation paradise). Apparently you can get a lot of mileage out of being "in New York", no matter how uninspired your actual location is.
