Monterey, immortalized in John Steinbeck’s novel Cannery Row, once had a thriving fishing industry. Today, visitors to Cannery Row find restaurants, a popular fishing dock, and the acclaimed Monterey Bay Aquarium at its north end. Bay cruises launch from Fisherman’s Wharf, home to seafood shops, restaurants, and Monterey State Historic Park, site of historic adobe buildings and a museum.see all hotels in Monterey
Has potential They have made exterior and interior updates, but not as clean as it should be and the beds were more like hide away beds in comfort. My wife would not let me book there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"close to my business location"
it was fine nothing really great rooms were overpriced for what you got and parking lot is very smallGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Monterey Ocean Side Inn was surrounded by beatiful flowers, however, which was located side of HW. We enjyoyed driving to the beach for 10 minuites. Let's enjoy practicing to the beach! Staying fee wasn't cheap because of vacation season. Let's go to Monterey in winter season!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel could be a nice one with some simple room décor changes and a LOT of attention to basic cleaning. (The top of the hair dryer housing was very dusty and there was a thick layer of dust on the lamp shade, etc.) There is no welcoming atmosphere at the front desk. The exterior of the building, however, is covered with charming vines & rose bushes […] are maintained well. The location, is midway between Seaside & Monterey, which is convenient for race track fans. After cleaning the room myself, we were ok with it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A place to put your head down"
Old and small. On the third day the shower handle broke.Genuine Expedia guest review
Tears in the bedding, hairs in the bathtub. It was nice that the sink and vanity area was outside the bathroom. We chose this hotel bc of low price and location is really close to sites we wanted to see.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a place to stay"
The hotel was in a great spot if you are looking to hang out at the beach. The people were nice. They did not make up the room and i had to ask for fresh towels the second day. The worst part was the beds were aweful. We didnt spend much time at the hotel so if you just want a place to stay close to the beach it aint half bad...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was dirty - carpet stained, tiles broken, the bathroom was just wrong. The place really could use a complete makeover. I would not recommend staying here unless all other hotels were completely booked and you had absolutely no other choice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"needs a makeover"
the place could really benefit from some investment. finishes, fixtures, bedding, towels etc are all worn out, literally tattered, water-stained, etc. i expect a coffee maker in even the lower end of motels these days, or at least coffee available in the lobby at 6 am or so, but that is not the case here. seems they are charging for location, not a […] menities. "under average hotel"
This hotel advertises a continental breakfast and all that they have is coffee. No coffee in the rooms so you have to go to the office.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Hotel's name is totally misleading."
No where near the water or fisherman's Wharf or Cannery Row. Dumpy, cheap, garbage hotel. The name of the hotel is Oceanside Inn. If you look at a map, it is close to the ocean as the crow flies but unaccessable to the water. 10 to 15 minutes to get to the beach or other sights in Monterey. I would not stay here for free.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheapest in the area, but also the worst"
There are a lot of things wrong with this place, but the main thing I want to point out is...For some reason they did not have any fitted sheets for the bed so they just took a flat sheet and folded it in half. I am a heavy sleeper so when i woke up the sheet was bunched up and my face was directly on the bare mattress. When we checked out they took […] the key and went straight to the room to check it and clean it. The only thing they changed was the used towels, garbage, and the bottom sheet. "perfect place for closeness to attractions"
The heaters didn't work. The hostess continued to convince me to give it 15 to 20 minutes to warm up. While I was going back and forth with her... There was another gentleman that came out and gave me another key to another room and the heater in that one fired right up. The fans in the bathroom are horribly loud with squeeking piercing noise that cannot […] be stopped until it decides too, so don't even think about going to the bathroom with the light on without waking your significant other and getting a headache. The free breakfast....do I really need to go there. The muffins that were there after our second morning looked like the same ones left from the day before. The bottom line is in my opinion, if you are looking to stay in Monterey and you are looking to be close to cannery row, spend a little more and get a better hotel :) If you just need a place to crash and no one needs to be impressed with the BASICS, then have at it. FYI the broken heater room was 4 and the room with the loud bathroom fan was room 7. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Manager did not know how to use reservation computer and did not seem to understand English. Room was very small and did not have a reading light. Area was commercal with no restaurants. However it was well booked ; must be a competitve rate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If cheap is the object."
We've stayed twice. We were in the room only to sleep, bathe, and leave. It is a very convenient location for our needs. There has been a problem with our reservation both times. Communication with staff can be very difficult. We took extra towels with us, knowing the few, worn towels they did have were not sufficient for two people.Having said that, […] we might stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Awful bed, would not stay here again."
Although the location is pretty convenient, and the room is a decent size (we had friends on fremont street that could barely walk around the bed, their room was so small) I would not stay here again due to the quality of the beds. We barely slept all night and had horrible back pains in the morning. The bed was just horrible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Paid More than Hilton/Embassy per Night For This?"
Recently rented a room and paid a good chuck of change per night. Not sure what was going on in town to make prices so high. For the price I paid, I was expecting a decent room and breakfast having stayed at Hilton/Embassy Suites for less. Room was less than Motel 6 quality with a TV that must've been rescued from That 70s Show set. The continental […] breakfast was a muffin cut into 4 squares, and the coffee tasted like it was from yesterday's grounds. The walls were paper thin and I heard the family next door allowing their kids to bounce on the bed and shout loudly past midnight. I eventually banged my fist on the wall to get them to quiet down. I do not recommend this hotel and will not be rebooking this hotel on my next trip to Monterey regardless of where it fits on the price scale. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the beds was uncomfortable. Not enough towels. the toilet got blocked I spoke to the manager and he told me it will be taken care off when we leave. I told him we want to use the toilet. It did not get fixed. We leave at about 9 am. Breakfast was very poor in presentation. Just muffin milk, juice no tea and a little jug of cereal. Didnot have fruit. […] I have had continental breakfast before it was much better. The Hoilday Inn Express was really good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
""Weird carpet stain""
As I first walked into my room, I noticed a giant weird-looking carpet stain in the entrance of our room. I didn't really mind it and went to walk around town. I came back late and was tired but I counldn't help but notice a few things; the sink was dirty, the toilet was splattered with brown stains and to top it off the bed was super uncomfortable. Also, […] the "continental breakfast" was a joke. My advice: If you have a few more dollars to spend and want to spend the night in a nice & comfy place, please stay away from this hotel!! "Monterey Oceanside Inn"
Didn't know a bed could be so uncomfortabe, and they don't have fitted sheets so they kept coming off. Location was very convenent to CSUMB campus and Fisherman's Wharf.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Minimum Hotel at a moderate price"
It was a minimum level hotel at a moderate level price. It was very primitive disguised as something more modern. The shower was a trickle, there were no drawers, and a 15 inch tv.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Only for a night's sleep"
Only stay here if you literally ONLY plan to sleep. I recommend getting drunk in town, passing out, and rolling out first thing in the morning. It is very close to a walking, running path, so that was the most redeeming thing about it. It's about a mile and half from downtown Monterey. My husband and I walked into town -- it was a safe walk -- and took […] a cab back. Don't stay here unless you have to. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
