Service was impeccable. Staff was so accomodating and helpful. Bayside room, while it was a joy to overlook the watrer and sleep to the sound of the crashing waves, the open courtyard is available to anyone off the street and it was obvious that people who were not guests were utilizing the veranda and sitting outside of our room, late at night. It […] was disconcerting to say the least. Also, the noise form the veranda was a little imposing in the late evening (9-12pm). You are inclined to leave your doors/windows open to enjoy the sounds of the bay but the people on the veranda are not very considerate of their neighbors. Walls were thin... next door neighbors were early risers and it was impossible to sleep whioel they were getting ready for their day. Room service was excellent. I loved the hotel view, the location, and the service. I just didn't like the weather, but no one can control it. I wished it was a little hotter to complete my boyfriend's birthday. The hotel was clean and furnished beautifully. The bed was a little high for me, but I am 5'1. The restaurant inside the hotel was delicious and fancy.

We've visited the Monterey area for decades, but never actually stayed at the Monterey Plaza. We finally decided to try it out and we SO enjoyed our stay! Bf & I were on our 10 yr anniversary n decided to splurge a bit since we're no rich folk. We stayed in the Oceanview King room. The view was beautiful. You can open the windows a bit to hear the waves crashing but you can hear it even when closed. Something to be aware of: They don't have a parking lot. It's either free valet or park on the street and […] be submitted to paying the meter. We didn't do valet because of past experiences with valet at other hotels and because we were going to be in and out of the hotel a lot. Meters were on 7 days a week, 9am-8pm and $1.50 per hr. Also, the hotel has 2 buldings. We stayed in the building that didn't have the Spa so we ended up not going since we didn't want to walk across the plaza just to get there. The tub in the bathroom is a bit bigger than normal and we both fit in for a short soak. I'd stay here again for special occasions. Read more

Very nice building and great location right on the water and Cannery Row but still a little overpriced. Also was not told about a 100 dollar incidental charge to my debit card that takes 5 days to drop off so be prepared for that. food was okay at the restaurant but the staff was very unorganized and slow. with the exposed kitchen we could see and hear […] cooks fighting right in front of us lol would not recommend and definately would not repeat unless they were running a deal on the price. The property sits on the edge of the water, you can hear the gentle crashing of the water and the sounds of the seals. The waterfront rooms overlook the plaza and makes you think that you are in Italy! From the dolphin fountain to the cozy fire pit the area is inviting. In the mornings you see the early coffee drinkers, the exercise nuts, the children […] burning off energy before hitting the aquarium and the hotel staff sprucing up the area for the day ahead. In the evening you see the couples dressed for dinner, people saddled up next to the fire on the couches and chairs, tired tourists savoring a hot coffee or an adult bevarage while the sun goes down. The valet parking is included and the attendents recover your vehicle quickly, even if you don't call ahead. Even with the hotel hosting 2 weddings everything seemed quiet and under control. Walking to the Cannery shops is a short and easy walk. The Aquarium is at the end of the road and you can get 2 day tickets at the front desk. When you depart in your car the attendants ask if you need directions or recommendations. All in All everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. We will stay here again the next time we are in town. :) Read more

A very nice hotel on the coast in Monterey, just a block away from Canery Row and local shopping and Aquarium. Room included binoculars for sea otter viewing from our window (one of the highlights). Our only complaint was the bed. Although the king was comfortable at first, my wife and I both woke up each morning with aching backs and by the 3rd night […] couldn't hardly sleep. 3 days later and my back is still aching. On the same trip, we stayed at a similar hotel (price point) on Cannery Row. Although that was a nice stay, it pales in comparison to Monterey Plaza. I loved Schooners for dinner and breakfast. We had a bottle of wine and unwinded at the fire pit at night. Rooms were perfect! Definitely will return there again.

From the moment we pulled up to valet parking, the staff at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa were amazing. Sure it did cost us a little more to stay there, but the level of service was some of the best we've seen. We paid a visit to the on site spa and all I can say is that they were the best. They managed to find us an appointment that fit our schedule […] and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Upon check in we asked the front desk staff if they had any recommendations for activities in the area and they suggested whale watching. It was not something I probably would have thought of, but they booked a trip for us and it was an amazing experience. The hotel is right on cannery row and there are many terrific shopping spots within walking distance. Our room had an ocean view and even though it was cloudy all week end, it was well worth it. I had read that this was one of the top 25 hotels in the US, so I had big expectations for this hotel. Overall, it was a good experience and very few flaws. The only issues may be my inflated expectations with such high ratings. It's an above average hotel, but probably not even in the top 10 I have visited in the US (none of the others were in the […] top 25 list either).
