I booked this hotel based on the location and the pictures (and some of the other reviews). When we got there to check in (after the actual start of check in time) our room was still not ready, so they told me to just wait. That didn't sit well with me. We had been walking around Monterey and the aquarium ALL day and wanted to sit down and relax. Not […] to mention just driving through the parking lot to get to our room was a wreck. Worst parking lot ever. Then when we got to our room, I was so surprised. The pictures were so much nicer then the ACTUAL room. The floors were dirty, the bathroom is very outdated, and the grout and caulking were disgusting. The TVs were the old huge box looking TVs. I mean come on, it's 2012. We left for a bit to go to dinner and when we came back there was ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING for hotel quests. So when I went to the front desk to ask them what was going on all they told me was to park in a handicapped spot because its a private parking lot so I won't get towed, and not to worry. REALLY? Come on! PLUS we had a hard time sleeping because we kept hearing so much noise outside. This hotel was by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Read more

We were very disappointed, as the room looked like a relic of the photos on the hotel website. The room smelled like a hospital and was very noisy. The decor is very basic. Security were called to a family next door for making noise, which should not been heard if the hotel walls were sufficient. I could not get a coffee in the bar lobby area between 11.30-12pm as the staff were busy catering for a conference, there was also no room for me to sit outside because of the conference. the hotel bar and lobby area had a very strong smell of gas. The guy at the front desk told me the entire hotel is non smoking. I have two kids with me and one is 10 months old. I complained about the person smoking right outside our room, the lady at the front desk told me to come over at the lobby and she will switch us to a different room because that place is really a designated smoking area. When I got there, […] the guy who checked us in told me that everyone can smoke outside the rooms, that there is no designated smoking area so even if they moved us, it wouldn't make a difference. So the entire night, i could smell cigarette smoke because someone was smoking right outside our door. The guy at the front desk clearly doesn't have kids. Maybe he doesn't know the risk of SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome associated with exposure to cigarette smoke. Read more

We were confirmed a view of the pool for my birthday stay. We got a view of the parking lot instead and awaken to sounds of the local garbage trucks at 5:00 a.m.. No free contential breakfast like confirmed, the charge is $8.00. After being woken up by the help walking into my room before the checkout time, they began to work on the room next door w/ the loudest of noises. Called the front desk & was told siesta Time endes at 9:00am. Very disappointed to say the least.

very hard to find parking close to room, no #"s on spots no fan/vent in bathroom, very damp could not adjust room temp. very stuffy had to sleep with windows open pillows uncomfortable rugs needed to be cleaned will not be staying at this hotel again Homeless men at corner asking for money, did not feel safe walking around

The lobby is the best part of this Motel. This is not a Hotel. The room was tidy however the second you walk in to the room you get a waft a mold in your face. I have to say ," it can't be healthy". The decor is ?? nothing on the walls. We did have a fireplace but it was more a necessity due to the fact that there still the old louver windows and they […] allowed the cold air in. My wife was cold. There was a nice 32 in flat screen TV, unfortunately it wasn't working most of the time I think it had a short/ problem with connection. The maintance guy was very helpful but it was too late to fix the problem. There is a pool but no jacuzzi. Pool closed at 9:00pm We had a balcony but it over looks a parking lot. I'm very much dissatisfied with my stay in Casa Munras. I stayed there (with my wife) for one day and we both wake up shivering in cold at around 5 am. The heater was not working! I called the front desk and they sent us a space heater, but the room was very cold and the very noisy heater took more than an hour the bring the temperature to something […] manageable. We basically had to stay in until close to checkout time to get some rest, scratching off our sightseeing plans for the morning. I have developed a cold because of this which made me miserable for 3 days. Never going there again, and i recommend others the same. Aside from this bad experience, I must also say that the rooms do not really grant the dollar amount they are charging. The rooms are slightly better versions of the ones you see in other motel chains like Best Western, etc. Not worth the money even if you have the heater working. Read more

This hotel had an empty curtain rod with no curtain in the bathroom, the bed was the worst I experienced on our entire trip down the coast of California. There was not a picture hanging or a mirror. I felt like I was staying in a hostel even though the room was expensive. There is zero soundproofing in the rooms. You can walk to town which is good because […] the last place you want to be is there. Do yourself a favour and pay the extra money and stay at a real hotel. Reception and check-in went well. Everything was good till the next morning. We were woken up as early as 6.30am from guests checking out, loud noises from the bikers starting up their bikes, loud conversations from the guests, people on second floor "thumping" to & forth in their room above ours,and the vacum cleaning at work for the start of the house […] keeping routine.
