To the south and southwest of downtown, this family-friendly region claims some of the city’s greenest pastures. Hayhurst’s 52-acre Alpenrose dairy complex boasts a stadium and a velodrome. Inside the Western-replica town of Dairyville, visitors find a doll museum and opera house, among other venues. Toward downtown, Portland Children’s Museum offers still more activities for the young folk.

"Best fix this one up!"
Hotel is dark and dingy. In need of updating. Beds were old and carpeting is dreadful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Breakfast was horrible.. Could improve a lot on that side. More healthy options would be nice. Scrambled eggs and hashbrowns and omlettes with vegetables would be better!! Embassy suites Breakfast is much better!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Never Again"
Can't believe this motel is rated an avg of 4.7. The entire facility is worn out. Wall paper missing, musty smell everywhere, inadequate lighting, hole in the bathroom door. Exercise room no longer exists? Staff unavailable for check-in for about 10 minutes after arrival. Outside temp was about 58 but could not get the AC to reduce the room temp to […] sleeping comfort. Beds were lumpy, soft and worn out. Worst night's sleep in a long time. Breakfast however was very good with a wide variety to choose from. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Not a good hotel for Portland because it is far from everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Suites, Not Sweet, not fun for kids"
This hotel was both great and horrible. First the good. The beds were very comfortable. The temp was easily controlled. The staff was extremely nice, friendly, and accommodating. There was a microwave and refridgerator in the room. There were fresh cookies at the front desk at night. The internet worked great. The breakfast was plentiful, diverse and […] loved by he kids. There is a mall and plenty of restaurants around. So - it serves its purpose and if you are just looking for a comfortable night, with lots of shopping nearby, and hearty albeit cheap breakfast, I say go for it. Now the bad . We paid alot for the amenities listed (nearly 2x some others) . When we arrived however, to this "pet friendly" hotel with our pet, we were relegated to the "pet rooms" AND charged a fee to have her with us, and signed a contract to pay for any added cleaning needed due to our pet. I understand that pets can carry an added risk or burden or even smell for a hotel and I understand the need for the contract, as well as a fee or a "pet room" but BOTH? Which is it? A nastier room for a nice room price or a fee? Well, we paid both and drove around to the "back entrance" where we were asked to enter and exit. The carpet on that hall was mysteriously always damp (3days long). The queen "suite" (which was your typical 2 star queen room setup with a love seat beside the bed and one small tv in front of one bed) had a strong chemical smell upon entry which developed into a thick sometimes unbearable smoking smell. Our window viewed a nasty solid concrete wall two feet away from the bldg. We arrived to find a used toothbrush and some hair in the bathtub - otherwise a spanking clean room. The microwave was very weak (took 25-50% longer to cook most things on high) The refrigerator had no freezer. So if you plan to bring your family for the "kitchenette", think again. It took us over 40 minutes to heat up 3 small entrees and a bag of popcorn from Trader Joe's. There were only 2 small drawers in Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good place to stay for pet owners"
I had a non-smoking room which nevertheless smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel was booked as pet friendly but I had a room on the third floor and the area surrounding the door to outside was not good for walking dogs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
