I have mixed feelings. Could have been great but it was so-so. The Aloft brand clearly tries to use lower end finishes to ape higher end design, and does a pretty good of that, with a few notable exceptions. Generally, the space has a nice vibe and pulse - I like the design of entering into a center of activity with the bar and food area. What didn't […] work for me was: 1) the contractor had an issue with wallpaper paste coming through the paper in my room. It looked like someone smeared toothpaste all over the walls. Note that the building was built in 2009, so it should have been taken care of by now. 2) the carpet needed to be stretched - there was a big pucker - large enough to be a trip hazard - in my room 3) the walls were paper thin - could hear the neighbor's kids and TV at 6:30. I've not experienced that level of poor sound insulation in decades. 4) similarly, could hear with great clarity the couple in 412 engaged in coitus in the hallway. Congrats, but didn't need to hear that. 5) When I told staff about the issues on my way out - politely, mind you - they were pretty apathetic. 6) pool area was kind of messy - young kids had been going wild - might be nice to have someone come tidy up at 11:00 for adult-only time. Guest Services accomodated us on a late check-out even the hotel was fully booked that night. Also, being pregnant, I crave pickles and the bartender was kind enough to send me back to my room with a dish full of them! "Weird electrical hum"
I was excited to finally stay in Aloft since they are usually out of my business travel budget. Perhaps my room was to close to the elevator or electrical room, but a strange hum kept me up half the night. "Love this new type of W hotel"
This is a new hotel, it has great interior design and the rooms are large. Everything is quality throughout... after doing everything so well, I was surprised that they skimped on the light in the shower/toilet area (which is separate from the sink.) No light in the shower and one dim cf bulb in the area. The mirror and sink area is nice and bright. […] Also, no breakfast included and the breakfast bar is a la cart. Every thing is a couple dollars, but if you get a few things it adds up quick. Overall awesome hotel and super friendly staff... loved my note from the housekeepers. Sharp, clean hotel. Well maintained, has a modern design. Room was a little small but nice. "Aloft GB -- Decent room and vibe, subpar service"
Could be a fine place to stay if the staff gets its act together. 1) Two of the three times I needed to speak to someone at the front desk -- including at check-in, no one was there. 2) On checking in I arranged for a late checkout, which the clerk apparently didn't note since another clerk called my room an hour before I was scheduled to leave to […] "remind" me that I was an hour past checkout. 3) During the first two days of a three day stay, my room was not made up. "Hybrid Spot was a golden ticket"
I have stayed at this hotel for many visits to the area for my job in the last year. On my most recent visit, I knew that we were expecting 3-5" of March snow one morning and was frustrated with the treck to the car.
