My husband and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon. It was a nice place. The room was great and service was good for the most part. However, The amenities list a hot tub and, since it was our honeymoon and we were kids-free, that was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. From the time we checked in until the time we took the shuttle to Lambert Airport the staff treated us as if we were family. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was a good one. The stay was satisfactory, with the exception of the in room heater not working, wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't in the low 30's outside. We chose this hotel because of its price and proximity to the cemetery at which we were burying a family member. The best thing about this hotel was its employees. They were friendly, accommodating, and helpful - from the staff at the front desk to the breakfast workers and maintenance staff. The rooms were comfortable and seemed clean, but if you looked closely you could tell that they were surface clean only - all five rooms we had needed some serious deep cleaning. Window sills, dust ruffles, carpeting around the baseboards - things like that really needed some attention. Also, someone had spilled coffee or soda in one of the elevators, which I reported to the front desk on the first day, and on the fourth day when we left, the spill was still there, though it had dried and was now just a splashy stain on the floor and walls of the elevator. When we did have a serious issue with one of our rooms, however, the staff responded immediately, decisively and positively to our complaint. Also, the hotel took quick action to evict a couple of guests who were causing problems for other guests. The Wingate's customer service is outstanding! The hotel was nice with a few minor issues. Water in the pool was very cold and the hot tub was out of order. Kind of ruined the relaxation time. The air conditioner in the room was extremely loud which made sleeping difficult. If we turned it off, the room was 100 degrees. Other than that the hotel was just fine for our needs.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Labor Day holiday. It was clean, quiet, and cheaper than staying in St. Louis without being too far away. We didn't have much interaction with hotel staff other than checking in/out and to get some more supplies for the room (I left the DND up while I was gone so nobody came in the room other than 1 day) but it was […] pleasant when we did. The location is right next to a very nice convenience store/gas station and some fast food (though we didn't eat there). Our room was decent though the air conditioning seemed to be inconsistent when set on high (I like it cold and often found myself checking to see if it was turned all the way up) and in the bathroom under the vanity there seemed to be some previous water damage and the sink spout could use a little calcium remover. Place was great, very clean and comfortable. Only thing that wasn't very good was the intrernet connection. They advertise high speed, but for my 3 days there is was very slow and unreliable.
