The Welk Resort San Diego is located on 600 tree-lined acres in a picturesque valley in Escondido, Calif., 40 miles north of San Diego. The resort is positioned 6 miles from downtown Escondido in the North County Canyons, 20 miles inland from area beaches. A dozen wineries are within 15 miles of the property.

This scenic resort offers indoor/outdoor dining at the Canyon Grill Restaurant, which serves American cuisine with mainstays including classic beef dishes, chicken, and seafood. The Welk Resort San Diego offers two 18-hole golf courses, 4 outdoor tennis courts, 7 spas, volleyball, and a theater that features Broadway-style productions, comedy acts, and magic shows. A museum is housed in the resort as a tribute to its founder and namesake, Laurence Welk. The resort provides 5 outdoor pools and the waterpark features 140-foot waterslides, interactive playgrounds, and a club house. Spa services include massages and aromatherapy. Guests enjoy complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the resort. On-site parking is free, and designated areas are available for motorcycles, recreational vehicles, and trailers.

The one- and two-bedroom villas of the Welk Resort San Diego feature living areas, dining areas, and kitchens with refrigerators, microwave ovens, two-burner stoves, dishwashers, and coffeemakers with complimentary coffee. Dishes, utensils and cookware are provided. All of the 438 villas feature cable television with VCRs. Patios and balconies offer views of the golf course, canyons or outdoor pools. Some villas have washers and dryers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. Housekeeping services are available for a fee.

Welk Theatre presents live entertainment throughout various seasons of the year: Welk Illusions staring Anthony Hernandez, Tongue and Cheek staring Kevin Johnson, and variety shows. Also, every Monday is Farmer's Market and every Tuesday evening is Festival Under the Lights.
The sprawling Welk Resort San Diego is built around 2 golf courses and 4 recreation centers. Golfers choose between the 18-hole, par-54 Oaks course and the 18-hole, par-62 Fountains executive course. A pro shop offers lessons (surcharges), rentals, and tournament arrangements. 4 lighted outdoor tennis courts are complimentary, and the pro shop also carries tennis equipment and clothing.
4 recreation centers offer outdoor pools, tennis, volleyball, fitness centers, spa tubs, and lounges with TVs and DVD players, pool tables, and ping-pong tables. The resort's waterpark has 140-foot waterslides and interactive playgrounds. A small lake offers complimentary catch-and-release fishing. Guests can also play half-court basketball, bocce, or shuffleboard.
A daily activity program for all ages includes arts and crafts, water aerobics, movie nights, and welcome socials (surcharges may apply).
Pacific Ocean beaches, approximately 27 miles from the resort, provide a myriad of year-round recreational activities.

Escondido's agricultural roots thrive in the city's wineries. East of town, important research takes place amid the safari setting at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. There, researchers work to save endangered animals, such as giant pandas, cheetahs, and rhinos. Casinos line the road that leads to the Palomar Observatory. Open to the public, its centerpiece is the 200-inch Hale telescope.

The check-in time is 4:00pm and it was crowded but organized and seemed to move along. The property is clean, but everywhere you go it is over crowded and not relaxing. The queen size pull out bed had to be made. We only had twin sheets in the room to put on that bed, after calling housekeeping and getting voicemail, not a real person they were very […] slow and did not tell us they had dripped the bag if top sheets at the front door. Follow up was not acceptable. The pool area was clean and nice, however there weren't enough chairs and shades to accommodate the weekend crowd. Our linens for the queen size sofa sleeper are provided in a sealed container on the shelf in the closet. This is done to meet sanitary guidelines. We apologize that the wrong sheets were provided to you. Further, we offer bed making, and this will be discussed with our operations team.
