This was perfect for just wanting a clean, comfortable room without paying for luxurious furnishings. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. Even though we were only staying for a night and didn't really need a kitchen, it was nice to have. I especially liked the comfort of the room. The "handicapped" bathroom was very un-handicapped. There was a bathtub instead of a walk-in shower. The sink had no vanity and no place to put even a tube of toothpaste let alone a hairdryer or shaver. The outlet was about 5 feet from the sink . The bed was very uncomfortable and very hard. It's what you would expect from a room that you pay less than $60 a night for. The staff was fairly friendly, although we had to stand at the front desk and wait to be noticed both checking in and checking out. "Don't stay on the third floor if you don't smoke."
Requested a non-smoking room. Got a non-smoking room on the third floor, which is where the smoking rooms are. The room smelled fine, but the hallway smelled strongly of smoke. When turning on the bathroom light, the fan turns on, which draws the smokey-smelling air under the door into the room. Ultimately, we took to cracking the window and shoving […] a towel under the door. They need to either go all non-smoking, or make the entire third floor smoking. For a hotel that is usually a pretty good chain, we were not impressed and actually disappointed with many things. First of all, there were a lot of stains around the room, including "fresh" stains on my blanket....had to ask for a new clean one. Yuck. We didn't have any soap, shampoo, etc apon arrival. Tricky to get to this hotel from the south even with a GPS - exit highway to the east and continue onto a poorly marked frontage road and then cross over freeway. Very basic room with only two pillows but everything was very clean and linens smelled fresh. Small "queen" bed which was very firm. The room had a full size refrigerator, two burner stove, […] microwave, toaster, coffee maker and even a few dishes. Bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine and ran with the light switch. First room offered to me the air was not working and it smelled like someone had been smoking in the room. I was given another room only room available was a handicap room. Room cleanliness and linen cleanliness average at best. Carpet needed cleaning and the same for ALL linens including sheets/comforter. Reinforced all negative perceptions of never sitting much less laying on comforter on hotel beds. carpeting was high durability but overall feel of the room felt 'ready to be steam cleaned' or hot water washed. cost […] was average but with all extended stay hotels, having kitchen/fridge always better than NOT having them. Extra charge for internet connection of $5 / day was a bit offputting too given perceptions of room value with perceived/sensed cleanliness issues. Having washer dryers available were extremely beneficial. Staff at desk consistently above average to excellent and redemption for room to an extent. Location relative to Mayo Clinic/downtown Rochester was excellent. Perfect hotel for a long stay especially for mayo patients. I was very pleased with the extreme kidness of the staff.
