"Great for a Place to Sleep"

"Good Spring Training Hotel"
We go to Port Charlotte for spring training every year. Punta Gorda is close and has the nicest amenities. The Sheraton is very reasonably priced, within a VERY short walking distance of many really fine restaurants. Rooms are nice, view of the marina is pleasing (as long as you are above the 2nd floor where the roof of the portico can block your view). […] My husband wanted dessert when we got back from dinner. We had a great stay here. The pool was open 24 hours (which is nice for late nighters). Our rooms were clean and staff was great. we also had a short walk to the marketplace and tiki hut. "Great overall location"
The location is what drew us here in the first place. Downtown Punta Gorda is a great weekend getaway for us...great restaurants, lots of activity, entertainment. This hotel in on the river and has a great Tiki Bar. There is a river walk along the river for several blocks and Fishermen's Village is only a short distance away (we walk it - about 3/4 […] of a mile). "Wonderful place to stay"
We stayed one night and our room was lovely and quite comfortable. The decor was delightful. The cleanliness was good; however, I did find a hair on the floor in the bathroom. Perhaps the housekeeper needs to have her eyes checked. I know I, myself, need to use my reading glasses now whenever I clean my own home because I'll miss something if I don't. […] I was disappointed that we didn't have a view of the harbor, but there are only a few rooms that do. We had dinner in the restaurant. $18 for steak that was just OK. We opted to find a restaurant outside of the hotel for breakfast as they charge $8 for a continental breakfast and I don't eat bagels. "Waters edge, walk to marina park, boat cruise!"
Great location in Punta Gorda. Nice views from most rooms with waters edge an easy stroll. Rented a boat for a wonderful personal cruise/site seeing from Debbie in hotel lobby at Destination Boat Club desk. Made friends with Rick n Deb as we did many people around hotel. Guests and employees always seemed to be smiling anywhere we went. Kayak or power […] boats make a fun outing. Beautiful at night although Rt 41 is noisy when at the pool and spa area. Pool area was empty most times. Bathrooms right next to pool and towels in hall on way out. Nice gym area inside near pool. Tiki hut other side of parking lot is lots of fun and a great place to relax and chat with friends next to the water. Crab house and marina right across street. Other restaurants and bars within a short walk. lobby bar kinda boring and music system needed tweaking. Breakfast in lobby area nice but closed at 10am. Breakfast buffet deal pretty good considering fresh fruits, juices, pastries, cereal, bagels, etc. Eggs can be added for extra charge or skip buffet for a choice off the menu. Only minor issues with no towels at pool once in evening and "no charge" bottle of water not replaced each day. Bathroom wasn't cleaned up great during our stay but not that big of deal since it was us that dirtied it. Very modern, nice room and a great location. The only complaint we have is the cleaning or our room. The first night it was never cleaned. The second morning we complained to the manager on duty and he noted everything down, this was at 6:30am. We told him we would be back around noontime. "Nice hotel for an overnight business trip"
A well-kept newer hotel with subtle, nautical design touches. Like other reviewers, I was surprised at the lack of baggage assistance, especially when you are required to park in a public lot to the side of the hotel. I reserved a King Deluxe but when I checked in at 6 p.m., apparently it had been given to another guest. The hotel gave me a "free upgrade" […] to another room --- with 2 Queen beds (not sure how that was an upgrade, but the front desk clerk assured me it was). It was comfortable, but not what I reserved. I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the food was quite good, especially for the price. "Good hotel wiht a few things to keep in mind"
I liked the hotel but there were a few things to keep in mind. I chose this hotel based on the photographs and convenient location for an over night stay for business travel. I arrived around 5:30 pm and there was nobody at the front desk. After waiting for about 5 minutes, someone came by and I got on my way quickly to my room. The decor is nice and […] modern as advertised. The room has the usual amenities, coffee machine, iron board, toiletries and a complementary bottled water. The bathroom appeared clean with the exception of a few hairs on the counter-top and shower. Around 8 pm, a loud noise started going off, probably from a transformer or a panel from the electrical room next door. I called front desk to ask them to check it out and within 20 minutes I got reassigned another room. For breakfast I had their continental buffet, but it was nothing special. Muffins, bagels, toast, cereals, yogurts, juices and a limited selection of fresh fruit (melon, pineapple and grapes). At check out time, again, there was nobody at the front desk and waited around for about 5 minutes. Not a big deal but when you are pressed for time, it is not ideal.
