"necessary for my business"
It was pretty normal for this hotel! Asked 3 times for a luggage rack and hangers - none. The room had been freshened since my last stay but there was no closet - just a amoire - which didn't handle coats/rainwear well. "Any port in a storm"
We were pleased to be able to rent a room cheaply after a "weather delay" at La Guardia, which diverted us to Newark for a next-day flight. Once we arrived at the property we discovered that it was in a state of refurbishment in the hallways and, let's say, poised for refurbishment in the room itself. Everything was functional, but well worn, giving […] the occupant that feeling of needing to scratch oneself and shower frequently. The 2:30 am fire alarm, which put us out in the winter rain, was no extra charge. The kitchen had apparently burned a pizza. If this were a Quentin Tarentino movie intended to create a sense of discomfort, I'd rate it four stars. "This Hotel Need Work"
They are in the middle of a room refresh and it is pretty torn up. during the day the elevators were alway full of furniture being moven in and out. My room had been redone but it looked like they did not finish. I did not have an alarm clock or working phone. The food at that was served at the breakfaqst bufffet was very bad. "Intersting"
I will give the hotel credit, they are still remodeling the room. however, upon check in was given my key card and a room number placed on the card pack. Went to the designated room key card didn't work. Went back down stairs, card was reprogrammed. Still nothing. Was given a different room this time. Went to my trade show the next day came back key […] didn't work for new room. They had never changed my room number in the system and still showed me in the original room. Was given a new card for that room and that is when I discovered the reason it probably didn't work the night before. The card was assigned to we'll say room 36 but on the packet it was 38. The location of the hotel, while close to Newark Airport and has a decent shuttle service, is next door to a NJ State Prison. If you do not have a car, there are no restaurants or convenience stores within walking distance. In fact there is nothing of that nature that I could see close. The on site restaurant was decent. "Lousy experience. Lousy customer service"
Arrived with about fifteen other people from Newark Airport. Four clerks when line started, then one by one, clerks went on break, leaving one to process about eight to ten others. Internet in rooms out. When I enquired, they said "they were working on it." After an hour, I enquired again, and again I was told, "they're hoping to have it up in an hour […] or so." Later, I spoke to the manager who told me the the internet had been out for over a week. Internet was available in the lobby, but with everybody in the lobby, eventually, it froze up. I asked where I could go to get internet, and they suggested going back to the airport terminal (where internet is $4.98.) I said internet was crucial, and would they consider adjusting my bill, and they said, "It's not up to us, it's up to hotels.com. Take it up with them." No ice in any of the ice machines. Went bar to ask for a cup of ice: "Ice is for customers. You need to use the ice machines." When I said the ice machines were empty, they said, "talk to the front desk." "Skip this one"
The hotel was awful. The first room they gave me, the toilet was dripping but they did let me change rooms. In the next room, which was a bit bigger an nicer, there was a dirtyj towel left on the sink and an ironing board left open in the middle of the room. Also, the advertised free wifi wasn't working the entire 3 days of my trip. And there was no […] mini-fridge in my room. One night we asked the front desk to call a cab and it never came.
