"Details matter; stop being cheap"
When we arrived, there was what appeard to be a small motorcycle gang by the front door. Turns out 3 of them worked there. That was the first sign of this being a little odd. The rooms are very small, but clean and comfortable. It was the other details that made it questionable. . The hotel advertised a "free shuttle". Turns out the shuttle ONLY leaves […] at the top of the hour. You can't use the shuttle to come back and you can't use it even though it sits idle for 45 minutes of the hour. Onenight I went to the bar/restaurant in the hotel. It's name is the "24/7" which is really strange because it is open only from 7am to 12am. Everything I tried to order either the restaurant was out of it or it costs extra to have things added... The waitress kept asking if it I still wanted a burger if it was an extra $1.50 for lettuce & tomato. Breakfast was even worse--it was a complete after-thought. I ordered eggs and rye toast and my son ordered pancakes. Instead, the waiter brought dry white toast with watery eggs, and a couple of cold pancakes. Not only did he not leave syrup, jam, or utensils, but after he dropped off the food, he just plain disappeared. Never saw him again til he dropped the check, which included an 18% service charge! (which I refused to pay). My recommendation: if you want t cheap room and have a cheap rental car to get there amd to get to a dcent place to eat--the location is convenient. Otherwise, stay away. "Great Value"
It is rare to find such a clean, large room in or around NYC for the price I was able to get at the Z on Hotels.com. "Nice but improvement to be made"
Overall my stay in the Z hotel was very nice. However, there were a few grievances I would like to make. I had arranged with the hotel have a car service picked my family and I up at the airport on arrival. I had made the hotel aware that there would be seven people with luggage and was told that they would have to organise a minivan at an additional […] charge. This was understandable and I was in total agreement. On arrival at the airport there was no sign of my pick up. Finally after 40 minutes later and two phone calls to the hotel our pick up arrives arrive however for a maximum capacity of 6 people with no luggage. In short we had to pay for an additional taxi for some of the people travelling, I was still charged full fare originally quoted for 7 people despite the fact that the pick up could not take all passengers and the hotel was unsympathetic and unhelpful despite the fact I had arranged the pick up through them. A few other petty things I wasn't too impressed with: having to wait for coffee at breakfast as they only had one flask and it was always running out, one two sliced toaster at breakfast to cater for 100 bedrooms, air conditioning unit leaking in room, TV channels in bedroom frozen intermittently and finally no kettle in bedrooms which is very inconvient when you have to walk for a least 10 minutes to get a cup to coffee due the remote hotels location. While the decor is lovely and the view of Manhattan exquisite, basic amenities such as an iron, ironing board and mini refrigerator were not available in our room. As a result, I spent my whole visit of four days feeling uncomfortably wrinkly (the one time I didn't pack my travel iron). Der holdes tid til anden fest på taget, med unge udefra. Der spilles overordentligt højt musik til ud på natten. Vi boede på 6 sal, og taget ligger på 12. Vi kunne ikke falde i søvn pga musiken. "Flott hotell for de som ikke MÅ bo på Manhattan"
Z Hotel er bare ett år gammelt og fremstår som veldig trendy, fint og rent. Alle rommene har utsikt mot Manhattan. Beliggenheten ute på Long Island City er ikke til noe større ubekvemmelighet - hotellet har gratisk shuttle over broa til metroen ved 59th/Lexington Ave. hver time og er flinke til å sette opp nok biler når det er stort belegg på hotellet. […] Det går både E- og 7-tog fra metroen noen kvartaler unna som går helt til downtown Manhattan. Det er to stasjoner i kort gangavstand fra hotellet. Avstanden er heller ikke avskrekkende for en taxitur fra Manhattan. Nabolaget er for det meste industri/verksteder, men det ligger dinere/kiosker /butikk noen kvartaler unna og avstanden ned til Vernon Blvd/Hunters Point hvor man finner flere barer og restauranter er en grei spasertur eller en kort taxitur unna. Betjeningen er svært serviceminded og står til tjeneste med det meste. Kvelden vi ankom var hotellet overbooket den første natten, men det var allerede ordnet med rom på et tilsvarende hotell i nærheten og de kjørte oss til døra. To negative ting: hotellet har nattklubb på taket i helgene (fredag, lørdag og søndag) frem til klokka 0400 på morgenen. Restauranten i underetasjen byr på heller tragisk og dyr mat sammenliknet med andre tilbud. Sandwichene var små i forhold til hva man forventer i NY. Som et pluss er ikke minibaren alt for dyrt priset... Drar absolutt tilbake til dette hotellet ved første anledning, føler ikke at man har noe behov for å lete etter noe annet. Die aussicht aus dem Zimmer ist der Hammer. Man sieht die ganze Skyline! Das Hotel ist neu! Moderne Zimmer, alles vom feinsten! "Hotel Z New York - utsikt Manhattan"
Nybyggt fräscht designhotell där tom gratis utlandssamtal ingår och limonsin över till Manhattan varje timme. Området kan kännas osäkert att gå i på natten därför kanske man inte tar tunnelbanan 10 min promenad. Taxi är billigt eller också kan man bli hämtad på Lexington Ave fram till 23.30 varje kväll. Ok frukost men inte bacon/ägg och bara mjukost […] som pålägg. Flertal brödsorter och muffins/croissanter, youghurt (inga flingor/musli), nypressad juice, te o kaffé. Ta med el-adapter då det är amerikanska uttag. Vi tog taxi typ 45 dollar från JFK när vi kom men tog tunnelbana och flygtåg när vi åkte (8 dollar/pers). Vi havde en skøn uge på Z Hotel. Fantastisk udsigt fra tagterassen og fra værelserne (især de højtbeliggende værelser naturligvis). Meget venligt og serviceminded personale. Der var en afslappet stemning hos det unge personale, og vi blev taget utrolig godt imod. Ikke kun ved vores ankomst, men hver gang vi havde et spørgsmål. Selvom restauranten endnu […] ikke var åbnet da vi var der, var der en fin continental breakfast. "Hotel Z à NY :proche de Manhattan, facile d'accès"
L'hôtel est situé tout juste de l'autre côté du pont de Queensborough, dans le Queens, l'environnement immédiat est surprenant au premier abord, un hôtel tout neuf de 11 étages au milieu de garages et d'entrepôts, proche du bruit du métro ; la première impression peut désorienter; mais très vite les avantages font oublier ce décor provisoire peut-être […] si la zone se développe. La vue des chambres est superbe, vue sur Manhattan et sur le pont, de nuit, c'est magnifique surtout du bar situé au 11è étage. Le bruit du bar et sa musique peuvent gèner certains résidents, il vaut mieux alors choisir une chambre pas trop haut. Le petit déjeuner, compris dans le prix, est un avantage certain et est de bonne qualité. Un service restauration le soir sera sans doute apprécié. Le personnel est disponible et nous avons apprécié leur gentillesse. La climatisation est bonne mais trop bruyante pour dormir, dommage! Je me suis interrogée sur l'étanchéité de la porte qui donnait sur le couloir directement en contact avec l'extérieur, ne risque t-il pas d'y avoir infiltration d'air froid l'hiver? La mise à disposition d'une navette gratuite est un avantage également. Intervention efficace du personnel au cas où des résidents se montrent trop bruyant, c'est un avantage dans le choix d'un hôtel.
