In Queens’ western edge, Long Island City hosts a vibrant art scene, on display at PS1. Immigrants make up nearly half of the population of this New York borough. Jackson Heights is home to Little India. Jamaica has long welcomed African Americans and West Indians. Corona is the resting place of trumpeter Louis Armstrong, and Astoria has one of the largest Greek populations outside of Greece.

"No Phone System working during the entire stay!!!"
This hotel was close enough to the event I was attending that it looked like a great option for the price. However, buyer beware. The special rate we received was for a good reason that was undisclosed to us even after checkin. The entire hotel's phone and internet was down. So not only could you not call from your room but you can't call the hotel […] AT ALL. it says disconnected. and the WiFi / internet was not working at all which was a major problem. I was very upset trying to reach the front desk to find out information about check out since the conference was going to be running later than 11am. but we had to leave the event early rush to the hotel and upon telling the front desk the situation they just kind of nodded and said "Yeah we know, time warner is supposed to fix it". "Nice hotel in nowhere,NY"
This is a like-new hotel in the middle of nowhere in Queens. Its in an industrial neighborhood 6 blocks from the subway. There is only one restaurant (Irish pub) within walking distance. The upside is the hotel is very new, good beds, quieter than some other hotels in the area and there is dinner avail and a free breakfast. The downside is that there […] is nothing else walkable in this area, the area is a bit shaky at night, breakfast is super crowded and marginal-- the quiche looked like a big hockey puck and the OJ tasted like water and they ran out of coffee-- but hey, It's free, also they have yogurt and cereal which were fine. The hotel is overpriced compared to others in LIC. If you like a new or newer hotel and don't mind being way off the beaten path, prob will be OK for you.
