The room had a trash filled with trash. The shower curtain was dirty with hair and shampoo residue. The bathroom floor was sticky. I reserved non-smoking room and was put in a room that had recently been converted from smoking to non-smoking. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. "just how big are those dogs"
We were very careful to make a phone call to the property to assure ourselves that even though the hotel was listed as pet-friendly our two golden retrievers wouldn't be a problem. Imagine our surprise when entering the hotel we were stopped and asked, "Oh, how much do those dogs weigh?" I responded, "About 65 lbs." When I asked for contact info for the GM the lady at the desk at 5:30 on Saturday afternoon told me that she was the GM and I would have to deal with her. Hotel was fairly new so the facility was clean and fresh. There was some major road costruction going that made the hotel very hard to get to, not their fault. The beds were uncomfortable. We all thought they were too soft. Something was wrong with the equipment at breakfast. The coffee maker did not work. The scrambled eggs were cold. This hotel has no elevator. Did you realize that was legal? We had to change to a room downstairs due to the fact that my girlfriend had a medical boot on her foot and couldn't use stairs without suffering pain. There were two rooms available downstairs, both smoke-friendly rooms. Just to be comfortable in the room, we had to spend a our time and money […] masking the terrible smell. If we had decided not to stay we would have only been refunded for one of two nights, so we bought an automatic Airwick sprayer and batteries. This was after I asked for whatever deodorizer the staff uses, but only got a near-empty bottle of normal Febreeze--the cleaning staff was gone and the woman at the desk couldn't find a spray bottle for their concentrated deodorizing solution.
