Very underwhelmed with my stay at the EconoLodge in Helen, Ga this past weekend. The room was ok, it worked for a family of 4. The bed was hard, pillow flat. A/c was too cold, but the room got too hot without it. The shower head was disgustingly dirty. Breakfast was decent if all you drink is bad coffee, no juice and very little milk. The Plus - Friendly staff. Quiet area. Close to Helen, but not directly in town. The Downside - The beds are advertised at Queen, but they are Double sized and not very comfortable. Sheets were so thin you could see the mattress through them. Very close to waste water treatment facility. Overall - Decent hotel for the money if it's a short stay.

We checked into this room, we left to go find another place to stay. We found another hotel in town that ALOT nicer for not much more a night. The room was dirty, the bed was flat and hard as a rock, the wallpaper was bubbled and peeling, the bed comforter smelled like it had not been cleaned. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Econo Lodge is what you'd expect for the price with older furnishings and linens. The grounds and rooms were clean and well kept. Overall a good experience for a very low budget.

Check in was a breeze. The room filled our basic needs. Queen beds had two pillows each; would have liked four. Was close enought to shops and attractions yet far enough away to be restful and quiet. We only stayed one night but would again.

The lady at the desk, Dawn, was cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. The hotel is a good value for the money. The room was clean and the AC/ heat worked. The outside of the building was clean and neat. The location was convenient for downtown Helen, GA.

The air conditioning unit must have been broken or something. It would either freeze you out or it was too hot. There didn't seem to be much in between. This isn't the fault of the hotel but we had some neighbors that went in and out of their room many many times throughout the entire night and slammed the door every single time. Room was dirty, hair was in between the sheets and stuck on bathroom walls, it was gross. Hotel staff was less that customer service oriented, could not speak English and did not communicate well.

we arrived at 12 noon hoping to check-in and were told check is was not until 4 pm. no problem, we left and walked around helen until 4.00 pm. we returned at four o'clock and and waited in line behind two other couples. one couple paid cash and received room keys. another couple received keys but were told there was a problem with there room and it […] would be just a little while. we were told that our room was not ready and that it would be an hour but we could go swimming if we cared to. we swam until right about 5 pm. guess what? room was ready. we were given our keys and proceeded to the room. when i opened the door, i saw that the room had not been cleaned at all. the manager came upstairs at that time and saw the problem. the ladies that were to clean the room were not to be found. then we were told that they had quit on their first day on the job. at this point, the manager found other people to start on the room. on young man left to get a toilet plunger and returned, left again, only to have a toilet snake tool. when they finally left we were told that the room was ready. the first thing i did was to check the toilet it still did not work properly, i had to remove the lid and flush by pulling up the stopper and holding it until it hopefully flushed, the fridge did not work at all. two t.v.s in room one did work, sheets were clean, water was hot and breakfast was not bad at all. the owners appeared not to have a clue what was going on around them. The hotel is a good value for the money, however keep in mind what you are paying. The location is great, next door to the Helen Tubing water park, however it is a little far from downtown, but walkable none the less. The refrig didn't work and the toilet leaked. The towels and wash cloths were old and had holes in them. The desk person was hard to understand and to get information from them. There were many signs of wear, the exhaust fan didn't work in the bathroom and the rooms had holes in the wall. There was not sufficient parking around the hotel for the number […] of rooms. We went to Helen to spend the weekend at a cabin for one night with some friends and decided to make a weekend out of it and stayed one night at the Econo Lodge because it was very reasonably priced. The room was clean, the service was friendly and prompt. The free breakfast consisted of toast, biscuits, and fruit. We opted for the Huddle House right […] down the road. Beds were comfortable, pillows were fluffy and clean. There is no elevator for the second floor, so if you can't handle a flight of stairs, make sure to request a ground floor room. My search criteria was simple, pet friendly, smoking room, inexpensive. I booked a room with the econolodege and thought I was set. I WAS WRONG! The motel was both pet friendly and had smoking rooms available, BUT NOT TOGETHER! If I had kept my smoking room I would have had to pay an additional pet charge of 75$.
