"It's a Budget Hotel"
The hotel was pretty much what I expected for the price. No frills. The biggest problem was the "restaurant" where the continental breakfast was served. This hotel is not that bad at all for the price. 89$ a night is heading to motel prices which means dirty, disgusting rooms. But this hotel felt like a 150$ a night room. "Pathetic maintenance"
Room phone did not work, had ot walk down to lobby everytime needed something. Television in room did not work either. Room was spacious but nothing worked and when asked to get it fixed said they couldnt do anyting about it at the time. Single queen rooms are very small, if you need the heat on in your room the window unit style heater only heats the room from 4 feet above finished floor to the ceiling. while the staff were lovely and the room spacious and clean the exterior of this hotel is NASTY. The parking is minimal and I did NOT feel comfortable or safe going out into the parking lot at night by myself. The whole hotel needs to be updated inside and outside. "Great value, location, and staff"
The staff at the Hicksville Days Inn were great. We were on vacation when Hurricane Sandy hit and during those difficult days they kept hot coffee and donuts around even with no power. I was very excited to be running my first half marathon on Long Island. I was also excited that I snagged this great deal until I quickly realized you get what you pay for... Check in was fine. Cheezy decor but clean. No problems. Then we get to the room and there was what i am pretty sure was either vomit or feces outside of our hotel room door. It […] remained there for the whole 3 days we stayed there. The room itself was pretty clean but dated. On the day of the race we returned back to the room and there were no linens in the room. I figured the maid was mid cleaning so i called the desk to find out for sure. After running 13.1 miles all i wanted to do was soak in that tub. The front desk explained that the maid was washing the linens and would be back soon. That was an hour later. After that we just put up the do not disturb sign. Over all it was ok. First night was OK...the guy at the front desk was nice and professional. Gave us good tips about the golf courses in the area. The beds were made, bathroom was clean, and plenty of towels were available in the room. The breakfast the next morning was so-so. The room where the food was seemed creepy and the staff never acknowledged us when we walked […] in. We left for the day to golf and returned about 8p. One bed was made and all the towels were gone. They left a wet towel on the unmade bed. We called the desk for towels and they told us to come get them. We were tired and a long walk from the front desk so we did not. We ended up using blankets as towels the next morning before grabbing some food from their creepy breakfast room, with, again, no greeting from the staff at the desk. "Served its purpose"
For the rate that I booked the room for, I knew not to expect much. The main purpose of my stay was to get ready for my cousin's wedding and to have a place nearby to crash without having to worry about driving all the way back home that same night. Unfortunately, due to "overbooking" I was not able to check-in at earlier than 3pm. (Even at 2pm, rooms […] weren't available) However, it did serve the latter purpose and was a comfortable enough place to crash for one night. The whole place looked a little dated -- like your typical roadside motel that you see in movies, but not as sketchy. However, it looked like they were under construction, so I suspect that they're updating their look. There was nothing spectacular about the room other than leftover KFC in the microwave from the previous guest. And the front desk, though unable to check me in early was courteous and helpful enough. room was old and not kept well. wasnt as clean as it should be dirt on the floors in the corner. bed was very old and hard not a good nights sleep at all. my phone charger was stolen from the room right from the outlet. tables were not wiped down during the coarse of our stay at all. fridge didnt work well and the humidity in the room was horrible.
