"Comfortable"

Nothing wrong with it, nothing special either, convenient since the trolley stop is there, we went to the nearby W. Wilson home. Neighborhood is fun during the day (thrift shops, a hobby shop (everything about trains), a neat family diner - "Mariani's Luncheonette" (boothes, locals, run by a mom and her 7 yr old daughter), a Domino's across the street […] for those in a hurry - could be sketchy at night though. "nice stay"
Our family enjoyed our two night stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast selection had a little to be disired (no hot items like eggs, meats, waffle iron) but was adequate, well kept and clean. "Close to center of town"
I was hoping for just a decent room at good old “HoJo’s” for a short getaway weekend but ended up being pleasantly impressed with our stay. It is easily located just 3 blocks from the main street of town and plenty of parking right in front of the hotel. Room was clean and looked well maintained. It had TV, refrigerator, microwave, Wi-Fi, and good water […] pressure in the shower (often on of my traveling complaints). Could not find a problem in here. The management was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. My wife and I spent at least half an hour with the manager as he gave us a tour of the landscape area, which he had turned into a garden. There were neatly arranged and well kept rows of tomato plants, carrots, peas, herbs, and too many things I could never have named. My wife (the gardener) was thrilled. The continental breakfast was very basic with cereals, toast, waffles, fruits, and coffee. There are nice, cute restaurants in town for more variety. Value for the stay and service was excellent. I was very pleased with my stay even though I had heard some negative comments before I had gone. The gentleman that runs the hotel is extremely nice and was a wonderful experience. "Labor Day at HO JO Staunton"
We needed two basic rooms near Crozet for a visit with my son's family. Both rooms were old but clean and in good shape. Staff and service were good and friendly. Breakfast was basic but a nice plus for the low price of the room. The only problem was elevator noise, recommend a room at least three doors from the elevator. "You get what you pay for"
I chose this hotel because it was inexpensive and I had to book it about 24 hours in advance. I got what I paid for: a cheap place to sleep for the night. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but the room was large and the staff very pleasant. The "continental breakfast" was a joke, so I had to buy breakfast elsewhere. "Stay was good"
As said by some of the other reviewers, the palce is hard to find, as it is in the middle of a silent, historic downtown. But for me, my GPS lead me straight to the hotel, without any issues. After taking the exit it may be 10 minute drive because of reduced speeds and traffic lights. We had booked for one with 2 queen bed and one with King bed, both […] non smoking. The room with king bed was very nice spacious and comfortable. But the other room I got was very smelly and the bath tub was slippery. Soon I approached the front end desk, and the staff there was very smiling and helpful. Immediately he swithced the room. The new one was very nice, and everyone liked it. Beds were very clean and comfortable, but outside needs a bit of paint and clean up, which I was not bothered, as, once getting into the room, I never came out until morning. Decent, older, enjoyable, friendly folks and one of the lowest prices around. Great location for an enjoyable walk around the downtown area. Which includes the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson and a small museum for his presidency. Great vintage car viewable through a full glass wall. "Decent hotel for the price"
We have stayed here several times over the last year when visiting family. The service is alright and the rooms are clean. This last time we stayed though the service could have been a little better. At check in the person at the desk was on the a personal call the whole time and barely acknowledged my husband who was checking in. Also, the bathtub […] had obviously been remodeled and they didn't bother taking out the old tub so it looked strange, so I decided to skip the shower completely. "Odd"
Overall my stay was fine, but the tv got no reception - all static. When I called the front desk, he said the whole hotel was experiencing this due to the windstorm the night before. When I went downstairs moments later for breakfast, the man at the front desk was watching tv with no problems. I asked him about it, and he said only a couple channels […] were working. So in the breakfast room, I flipped through all the channels and they were all good. I asked the guy at the front desk again, and he acted like it was a miracle, and suggested that my tv should be fine now. I went upstairs, and it was still not working. I called the front desk again, and he suggested that I wiggle the cable. When I checked out, a different guy was at the desk. I told him about the useless (and possibly lying) front desk clerk from the early morning, and he apologized, but offered no remedy (like a discount, for example). Otherwise, my stay was fine.
