"Super cool, compact, convenient to Harvard"

I got a last minute deal and great price at hotel Veritas. Service was great. When checking in I found they had already upgraded me, and when I asked for a quiet room they upgraded me again! Although the rooms of this property are small, the building is most likely a former boarding house for Harvard students. That said, the limited space is adequate and the bed comfortable. It meets a warrior's needs unless you want to work in your room for any length of time. The hotel was having widespread issues with drainage, so the bathroom sink wouldn't drain. Kind of yuck. "New Years Eve Disappointment"
We checked in New Years Eve for one night stay, not very busy, I had reserved a Queen room, upon check in young lady told me they had upgraded us to a balcony queen, room #401, I should have know something was up, Balcony, in January with 8" snow on it??? Room was next to the elevator, shared a wall, but it was no problem. However, we think the air […] handling unit or something was right above the room, all night, we thought shortly a helicopter will be landing on the roof. We did not get much sleep. Also, Room 401 is very small, may because it is carved out of a corner. I was able to park at a meter right in front, next day was new Years day holiday and did not have to move the car or put money in the meter. The stay was fine but the "upgrade" was actually a downgrade. On line we paid for the most expensive room on offer. The upgrade was a tiny room next to the elevator with a "queen" bed much smaller than our queen at home. The room (which was one step above the base room) was very small. Because of the size of the room there was really no convenient place to open or store our suitcases. A nice hotel, if no other Hotels have space, but: The rooms are TINY!!!!! We were on first floor. Evidently the subway trains passing with a roar throughout the night every hour or so were about a foot below our room. - a grotesque note: Upon entering our room for the first time, we noted that the glass top of a bedside table was cracked, and seemed […] to have been smashed. We called the front desk, and they sent someone over. "Oh, they are all like that, it is thought to be charming." The glass decor throughout the lobby is distressed, with copperish spots. Again, a "charming" effect. A nice fire was in the fireplace in the lobby. The heating/AC in the room was either freezing or roasting, and we tried to enjoy the interstices in the times in the middle. A very nice bathroom(tiny) with a great shower. Pristine and clean.
