The hotel is new, clean, in a great location to Harvard Square and Cambridge. We were disappointed at the size of the room. We stayed in the deluxe queen and there was hardly enough room for our suitcases. We called the front desk when we saw the size of the room and had decided to only stay one night instead of the three. The receptionist said he would […] call us back. He never did and never acknowledged our unhappiness with the space, though we saw him several times over the next few days. We used valet parking which proved to be a real convenience, though pricey. The hotel was having widespread issues with drainage, so the bathroom sink wouldn't drain. Kind of yuck. And, while there is an individual thermostat, the room was overheated even with the unit turned off. The staff was very nice at check-in and the room/building are pretty. Location is excellent.

we got upgraded from a petite queen room to a queen room. the room size is small for boston but slightly above average for nyc. free orange juice and water are pluses. one negative in line with other reviews is that the bed is too soft.

We checked in New Years Eve for one night stay, not very busy, I had reserved a Queen room, upon check in young lady told me they had upgraded us to a balcony queen, room #401, I should have know something was up, Balcony, in January with 8" snow on it??? Room was next to the elevator, shared a wall, but it was no problem. However, we think the air […] handling unit or something was right above the room, all night, we thought shortly a helicopter will be landing on the roof. We did not get much sleep. Also, Room 401 is very small, may because it is carved out of a corner. I was able to park at a meter right in front, next day was new Years day holiday and did not have to move the car or put money in the meter. We will give one more chance to this hotel, I like the location and the boutique feel, if not satisfied will go back to Charles. Read more

This is a nicely furnished, conveniently located hotel with a very helpful staff. The rooms are small, but mine felt cozy rather than cramped. The staff should pay slightly more attention to routine maintenance -- the drapes were coming off the hooks, and one of the lamps didn't work properly.

The room (which was one step above the base room) was very small. Because of the size of the room there was really no convenient place to open or store our suitcases. Once we added a couple shopping bags we really were challenged walking around the room. In addiiton, our room which was on the main floor close to Mass. Ave., was relatively noisy.

A nice hotel, if no other Hotels have space, but: The rooms are TINY!!!!! We were on first floor. Evidently the subway trains passing with a roar throughout the night every hour or so were about a foot below our room. - a grotesque note: Upon entering our room for the first time, we noted that the glass top of a bedside table was cracked, and seemed […] to have been smashed. We called the front desk, and they sent someone over. "Oh, they are all like that, it is thought to be charming." The glass decor throughout the lobby is distressed, with copperish spots. Again, a "charming" effect. A nice fire was in the fireplace in the lobby. The heating/AC in the room was either freezing or roasting, and we tried to enjoy the interstices in the times in the middle. A very nice bathroom(tiny) with a great shower. Pristine and clean. Very nice. Appears to be recently updated. Very convenient to Harvard and Harvard Square. Lobby and rooms are clean and well decorated. However, we stayed in a Petite Queen room and it is not meant for more than 1 person. Advertised as 175 s.f. But that has to include the bathroom and closet. Bed takes up most of the room. Great hotel, perfect location- a very short walk to all the main points of Cambridge (Harvard Square, campus, etc.) I used earplugs at night, so the subway noise mentioned in other reviews did not bother me. The only complaint was the size of the room (#106) - it was tiny and dark (the window faced a wall across from us), but we did make a last minute-same […] day reservation (and got a nice discount), so should not complain too much. Plus, at this location, you would want to spend as much time outside as possible. Otherwise, the hotel feels very upscale; the condition and decor of the rooms and main areas is perfect. Complimentary coffee and juices are a big plus. There is no gym on the site, but they do give you passes for a small cute facility across the street (opens at 8am.) Bottom line - everything was great; the only qualifier is if I am paying full price, I'd make sure to ask for a bigger room and the one that is facing out, not the back wall of a building next door. Nice new hotel, in very good condition, and very convenient to Harvard Sq. and transport. Staff were friendly and helpful, gave me hints on how to avoid their $34 parking charge. Parking in Cambridge during the day is a real hassle, so you may have to pay their parking charge. Rooms are small, European style. Hotel staff are all wonderful. The room is small but clean. Very close to Harvard Univ. and subway station, very convenient. Everything was good but one -noise. My room was facing to the main road and I heard a lot of noise except Sunday morning. (I stayed from Friday night to Tuesday morning)

I stayed only one night as a weekend stop over after a meeting in the area as a treat. Although I arrived at 10am this was not a problem and I was very conveniently able to check in early with no extra charge. The hotel apperarence was as promised from the web page. It felt like a welcoming and caringly different experience, and the effort that has […] been made in this repect has paid off. All very nice staff. I had a Queen size room which was ample size wise for my needs, very tasteful and comfortable. Loved the bathroom. Possibly a few too many gadgets for me personally as they were superflous to my needs, although a coffee maker in the room would have been nice (the OJ and cranberry juice available in reception more than made up). Maybe there was a radio in the ipod dock alarm, or on the tv, but I could not find it and I do not have an MP3 player compatible with the dock. I never set up my messages on the phone and so a red light flashed through my stay. Maybe I did something incorrectly but having enjoyed a film as I went to bed, when I turned the power of the TV continually faded in/out at a low level all night. I failed to check in for my flight using the computer in the business center as it would not show the Virgin checkin page due to a security issue(?). The cable internet in the room did not seem to be working. Minor technology issues apart I really enjoyed my short stay in this carefully presented, conveniently located hotel and would definitly recommend it. Read more

In the hart of Cambridge, a very good business hotel. Next to the metro in reach of Boston city. Very friendly, no-nonsense. Free WiFi, no breakfast but Starbucks just a coner away. Happy to go back again anytime.
