Overall this property is BEST for convenience. This is the best possible hotel for a passenger traveling on an early morning flight. You can place no price for this level of convenience. The main and only reason I ever stay at the MIA hotel (which is often) is for the convenience of being IN the airport. My room this time was terrible, extremely small and rather uncomfortable -- especially for the somewhat higher price than I usually pay. The room service fine, the room was clean, but in general the hotel staff was cold and/or uninterested, […] unresponsive (except for the room service waiter!). "Only if you have an early flight"
This hotel may have been fun several decades ago when it was new, but it is a dormitory-type of facility with slow check-in, a very tired and out-dated restaurant and small, basic rooms. I retuned from a business trip and was stucked in Miami for 10 hours waiting for an 8:00am aa flight. The hotel was a way more that we expected. The rooms were cleanned and very cozy. It has a flat screen TV and staff was very friendly. And best of all it was inside the airport a 1 minute walk to the AA counter. "Terrible customer service"
I came in on a redeye flight and called the front desk to ask how to get to the hotel. Three times they gave me incomplete directions. It took me 45 minutes to find the hotel when it should have been a 10 minute walk from my gate. Then, after waiting in line for 15 minutes to check in, I was finally given my room key. I went to my room only to find […] that the windows overlooking the runway were wide open. After climbing on the desk to reach up to close the windows, I realized that I couldn't find the light switch to shut of the fluorescent lighting in this concrete bunker of a room. I looked out in the hall and found some housekeepers and told them to tell me where the light switch was. They apparently have no clue where the light switches in the rooms are despite cleaning each room for a living. They said they would call the front desk. I waited 10 minutes. They never came. So I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. 15 minutes later, I was still waiting. By that time, I finally managed to find the light switch hidden on a wall in the closet. Almost two hours after landing, I finally laid to get some some sleep. Needless to say, it wasn't quiet. After 3 hours of tossing and turning I finally got up and checked out. For early morning flights out of Miami, this is the ticket. Take the elevator down and you're practically in line. The rooms are closet sized but comfortable. No desk to work on so not business friendly. Price point is just below what would drive you to an off-airport property. On the negative side, staff at front desk seems confused. "Convenient location, but.........."
This hotel is so convenient for travelers like me, who might arrive MIA late and night and are leaving again early the next day. the staff are very helpful and pleasant. But, oh dear me, the time for some maintenance and refurbishment to the property is long overdue. Having arrived from Tokyo, worn and jet-lagged, the first room I was given had a blocked […] bathtub drain. The staff at reception were very accommodating and apologetic. They immediately moved me to another room nearby, which was simply dirty. The toilet bowl was stained. I prefer to think that it was stained and not just filthy. The bath tub was full of rust. This is an excellently located property. Tell the owners to spend some money on making sure that it is more acceptable.
