From its beginnings in the late 1800s, Coconut Grove has been a magnet for tycoons, artists, writers, and musicians. Once a city in its own right, this Miami neighborhood now caters to foodies on the search for everything from apple martinis to zeppole. Nearby, Coral Gables displays a striking blend of Spanish colonial and Mediterranean architecture. Its Miracle Mile offers designer shops and art galleries.

"Pretty but not that clean"
This is a beautiful hotel. Housekeeping was subpar for the price point. The room was dusty and we had to call for wash clothes, which took an hour to receive. The maid also forgot to empty the trash when she cleaned the room. For such a beautiful establishment housekeeping was poor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and architecture"
This hotel is an interesting place and a great location. However, the service was questionable. The room was generally clean, but the phone was filthy. In addition, my wife and I asked for the hot tub to be set up (which takes 90 mins to heat) so we went out to walk the neighborhood. When we got back the tub water was running but no water was in the […] tub. So we called down, and one person showed up to set up the tub correctly, of course now we had to wait another 90 mins for the tub water to get hot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not your average boxed hotel room"
Love the rooftop pool area-has a great view of the bay. Staff was friendly and the location is great. We had a king suite and liked the funky layout of the room except for the disabled vanity area. They had capped off the electrical outlet and the area had no light or chair-that was kind of odd.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old glamour of Mayfair is gone"
Front desk/door staff were cold as ice; not helpful. We were asked twice if we really wanted to valet park the car rather than park ourselves. We knew that we had to pay for parking, but if we didn’t, he didn’t offer information. No doorman or bellman at front door and since we were pressed to move the car we grabbed our own luggage. At 12 noon we were […] told room isn’t ready; if we give our cell number we would be notified when ready.I asked for a fairly quiet room as it was our anniversary and were looking forward to a quiet relaxing long weekend.I was told I will get what I reserved (?!). No call came; at 4 pm I called and was told the room was ready hours ago (!).Our room was almost next door to a suite of bridesmaids and a bride to be, need I say more about noise level?Lush green plants that covered balconies are dried up exposing dirty wood they climbed on.I was sad that a gardener would not be hired to upkeep the lush plants that gave the hotel its charm.I felt that our room was smaller than what was described in the website (and pictures).I had an emergency and called front desk to have item sent up.It took 2 hrs and 3 phone calls to have it delivered. An omelet at Spartico arrived lukewarm an hour later when we told our waitress that we want to cxl and asked for check.Much to my surprise, there was no Concierge in the lobby.Mayfair proudly displays a 4 diamond award in the lobby.Sadly, service was not on par.Too bad since Mayfair is a most romantic and beautiful property. "Charged $520 for Preexisting Room Damage!!!"
After booking a suite for a great price on Hotels.com, and paying before the stay, I was glad to see a modern, interesting hotel. My room was fantastic, except for the filthy Japanese soaking tub (which costs $30 to use, no thank you) on the patio. Upon arrival in my room I noticed the sliding glass door to the private terrace had that super shattered […] look in the glass. I asked my partner if there was something wrong with it, and he assured me that was the look, for privacy. The glass was smooth to the touch, so I agreed. Other than a complete lack of electrical outlets in the bathroom, the room was fine. I checked out, and less than a week later i was shocked to discover that the hotel CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $520.00 FOR GLASS DAMAGE!!! I have called the hotel three times now to ask questions and discuss this, and the phonecall I am waiting for from the engineer still hasn't came. THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED TO TELL ME THEY WERE TAKING $520 FROM MY ACCOUNT!!! I can't even speak to anyone about it! They said they didn't have my contact phone number, and when I suggested that they should have contacted Hotels.com to get my number in a case like this, she said she didn't think of that!!! So now I have to dispute the charges, and cancel my credit card and get a new one. And wait for my $520. And still no email or phone call from this hotel. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. "Great hotel"
This was a great hotel in that everyone was super nice and the rooms are really clean. However, we were told upon our arrival (2 pm) that we could not check in immediately and that they would call us when our room was ready. They never called us and said they forgot. Also, be aware that the rooms do not have many outlets; the bathroom had 1. There was […] a coffee maker but no place to plug it in! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place...beautiful facility...lovely rooms"
This was my second time staying at the Mayfair. The first time we were blown away by what a great place it was for the price. The seecond time there I was no less impressed with the quality of the hotel. First it's in a fantastic location. Lots of shopping and dining right across the street and within blocks of the hotel. Second, the hotel has an awesome […] asian-inspired theme. It's very tranquil with an open air atrium and plenty of spaces to sit, listen to the running water within the facility, and soak in the tranquility. The rooms are wonderful as well with enormous japanese style hot tubs in every room and modern stylings throughout. I'd recommend the Mayfair to anyone I know that's travelling to the Miami area and wants to avoid the congestion of the South Beach area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We had a nice night at the mayfair. Japanese style hot tub was a +++ just awesome. Great room service and employees charisma was notable. Extra charge for minibar, hot tub and miscellaneous stuff( toothbrush , wines, snacks, etc) great hotel overall for a romantic stay...not for party peopleGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable and stylish hotel!"
I liked my stay at the Mayfair. The staff was very friendly, and the accommodations were very luxurious and comfortable. I'm not kidding here... When was the last time you stayed at a hotel that has TV's in the bathrooms and a private porch with a hot tub in each room! I liked the location as well. It's a short trip to the beach and all of the major […] tourist sites, and the neighborhood that it's in is fun to visit. Is it a cheap place to stay? No. Was it worth it! Yep! "Amazing location, beautiful hotel."
The Mayfair is an incredible hotel at an amazing value. The location is second-to-none and it made for the perfect spot to lounge and relax, both before and after going out on the town. I marked the hotel down for only two things: 1) I had to remind the front desk 5 times one night that I needed ice before someone finally brought it up, and 2) The elevator […] needs to be air-conditioned, it's too uncomfortable in the Miami heat. I will definitely consider staying in this hotel again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed"
For the price (a 50% off bargain deal) it was acceptable, but my experience didn't match the pictures/description online. The people at the hotel were nice, but not very helpful - they were out of non-feather pillows, balcony hot tub wasn't filled after requesting it in person at front desk, never got extra towels (ended up taking some from pool area), […] and called downstairs for ice and it never arrived (the ice situation is aggravating - ice machine is on certain floors behind a door marked "Pantry - Employees Only" - ended up getting myself anyway). The pool area is much smaller than it appears in the photo. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad service, avg rooms - stay somewhere else."
I booked the Mayfair over a month ago. Prepaying my room through hotels.com. I booked a room with a king and got a double. When I called the front desk to change my room, I was told that there were no kings available, but was told by the front desk that I did get an upgrade on the room because there was no king beds available. My upgrade consisted of […] a larger size room, which I did not need. The front desk also could have said something when we checked in. Strike one. The message light on the phone was blinking, but the phone would not connect to the message box, so we unplugged the phone to make the light go away. There was also no hairdryer in the room and it took two calls to the front desk to get a hairdryer sent to us. Strike two. When we got into bed, we were surprised with a pair of sox (not ours, nor was it a gift from the hotel). Strike three. To make matters worse, at checkout we were asked about our stay and we told the front desk clerk what happened. The phone and dryer I could live with, but the dirty socks was a problem. However, it was very late at night so we just jumped into the other bed. The front desk clerk apologized and asked us what they could have done to remedy the issue. Obviously it was too late, we were checking out. But worse of all, was that the individual proceeded to charge us for parking and a bottle of water from the mini bar. Not, "I'm sorry let me take care of the parking for one night and the water from the mini bar", but you owes another $35 bucks. A good hotel would have discounted at least the parking and mini bar and would not have asked me first how they could have remedy the situation. They would have done and then asked me if there was anything else they could do. Had the hotel done that this review would've ended in a positive note for the hotel. There are too many other hotels in Miami at the same price point that provide much better service than the Mayfair. "The Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove"
The hotel was great itself, the rooms very nice and well stocked. The layout is interesting in that you are outside until you enter your room. Each room has a suite name and custom design that I found to be nice. The balcony is very private and is where the Japanese Soaking Tub was. Although the balcony is technically outside (in our suite) it is walled […] off just 6 feet from the edge. You can see sunlight if you look up, but a wall if you look out. This was fine with us because the balcony would look straight in to the suite and ruin the private feel. The soaking tub has to be requested to be filled and there was a one-time charge for that. The only real gripe we had was the parking. If you park in the "Mayfair Hotel" parking (not using the valet at the front door" you will be charged $24 per day. I was a little dissapointed to find that the Mayfair hotel was not affiliated with the Mayfair Hotel parking garage... so no reduced rate or validation. I never checked into it, but the valet is probably not any better. Overall, the great location and very private rooms would lead me to suggest this to anyone wanting to be in the heart of the Coconut Grove area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Mayfair Hotel & Spa just OK"
Room looked fine until you started to notice it was not very clean. My husband walked across the floor in white socks and they got black on the bottom. The bottom of the door to the bathroom and molding looked gross. The phone did not work a lot which made it impossible to call for your car when going out. Parking was $26 a day with valet only which […] meant you had to add a tip on to the $26 each time you went out. No hot water the first morning. Tub (i.e. showers) was so difficult to get in and out of safely especially if older. Charged $13 a day for Internet connection. No suitcase stand made it so hard to deal with my suitcase esp since I didn't want to totally unpack. The room was so quiet it was great! The TV was wide screen and perfectly placed for watching from bed. Safe in room was easy to use and so convenient. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not bad...but not too good either."
Maybe my expectations were off but I always thought The Mayfair was a great hotel in Miami. I have heard of quite a number of celebreties who have stayed at this hotel. Well, maybe that was in the past. This weekend my wife and I were disappointed about a few things. My understanding when I made the reservation was that a free breakfast was included. […] The Hotel said it was not. I guess they felt bad and gave my wife and I a free continental breakfast only. We were disappointed with this. Also, the list of television stations offered in the room was not available. I had to ask for it twice. It seems like a minor thing but given that this is a 4-star hotel, I expected better service. Finally, the hotel needed pressure cleaning BADLY. It seems ridiculous that a 4 star hotel had such dirty walls. The food in the restaurant was good and the room was clean. We stayed in a suite. The hotel needs updating very badly. The elevators were really OLD and slow. The pool area was OK. My wife and I made the best of it and had a good weekend. But, considering the reputation of the hotel, I was disappointed. The parking was ridiculously expensive. The overnite valet is $26 PER NIGHT. We parked accross the street at CocoWalk for $10 per night. I probably won't stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Wonderful service, comfortable room, great price and luxurious upgrades. This is a terrific hotel, with convenient valet parking and a hospitable staff. I enjoyed my visit and had a wonderful stay. "Great Hotel"
I live close to the MayFair Hotel, less than a mile. I have never chossed the hotel, until last friday. And i am asking my self, how could i have missed such a nice place all of this time?. The room was confortable, inviting to stay in it. The design is a bit different than usual, meaning the position of the bead(in an angle). My girlfriend arrived […] latter on, and she would not stop mention how nice everything was. Great bathroom, double sink, TV, marble floors, bath tub-shower conbination(specially the shower head). There is also the terrace jacuzzi Spa(extra charge) very well placed , my girlfriend make sure of that. You can not see into any of the other adjacents rooms. Nice TV, nice table for two, decent mini bar, and a very nice all american breakfast the following morning. Overall, very nice. Coco Walk just right across the street, plus all the restaurants and bars in Coconut Grove just right there. I am looking forward for my next stay, i think i am going to become a regular.

"Great hotel, location not as good as expected"
We had a great stay at the luxorious hotel. The room was great, nice big bath, big room and big TV. Hottub on the balcony we didn't use because of fee of filling it with water. Parking was very expensive. The pool at the roof was great, but the prices for drinks where very high. We thought the hotel was closer to the airport, but that was probably my […] fault. Inspite of these things it was really a great luxurious hotel with great rooms and service. But extras do cost big extras.
