"Will never stay here again!"
First time we stayed here was 3 years ago and it was fantastic - and the rooms were brand new. So we reserved a room again last year and found the room just okay - maybe we didn't get the "new" building. We just stayed here on August 6, 2011 and found the room to have recently been smoked in (again the law in Michigan since May 2010) and a party went […] on all during the entire night and after that we had to listen to a couple yelling & screaming at each other until early in the AM so we checked out at 4:00 AM and left for home. "Good for an overnight stay...if you can find it"
My son and I stayed here for the night after spending the day at the Ohio State Fair. When I booked the room, I thought it was closer to the fairgrounds, but that's my fault and not the hotel's. "Good hotel, bad customer service"
This is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in, but the lady at the front desk provides really bad service. I am the type of person if I put my card in your hand I would like for you to put it back in my hand when you are done with it, but she did not do it neither time. We got there a little after check in and our room was not ready so they […] send us to two rooms before we got settled. We were supposed to have a king bed and we have a box that had a queen bed. in touwn for the Holiday weekend to visit friends and family. Great location - restaurants within walking distance, and Polaris Mall 5 to 10mins away. Easton was about 10 to 15mins away as well. This hotel is satisfactory, however, I was disapointed with many things, such as: housekeeping skipped our room the first day. We had to go down to the desk that evening (when we got back from our day's activities) and request clean towels and toliet paper. The staff apologized but that's all. The queen bed was fine, the room very cramped. I disliked […] the dark colors of everything in the room. The front office staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. It was interesting to read other reviews and see similar difficulties such as problems with key cards, no fruit or eggs with breakfast, TV remote doesn't work (we even got a second one), no elevator made for long walks with the luggage. They have a exercise room which is small but decent, but we got kicked out because we were in there after 10 p.m. and the guy through the wall couldn't sleep with the noise (I guess we missed the sign). but a lot of little things didn't seem to be working quite right. The key cards for the door lock (both exterior door and door to the room) were very picky... The remote control for the TV barely worked (you had to get up from the bed to get close enough for it to work). The hotel was clean. The lady at the front desk was very friendly. We inquired about a local restaurant we had reservations at and she gave us a coupon to use. That was great. My only complaint is the only room available was a smoking room and we don't smoke. Non-smoking rooms were twice the price, and still, not available. All surrounding hotels were […] booked because of a festival in the next town so we took the smoking room. It really smelled when we got there. Opened the windows and sprayed air freshener. Thought that took care of it until we got home the next day and everything we had with us smelled like cigarettes. The breakfast area was nice and clean. Loved being able to make your own waffles, that was fun and pretty good for free. Again, the lady at the front desk very friendly - I have food allergies and she went to the supply room so I could read the ingredients on the bag to make sure I could eat the waffles. Overall was a good experience except for the smoke, and I think that smokers should pay more for a room than non-smokers, which would help with the cost of trying to keep them all clean and smell-free.
