The rooms were very spacious and it did the job considering we didn't stay in the room too much. The room wasn't very clean and our door to the patio was broken and very hard to open. There were cigarette burns in our curtains and stains in the carpet.

This hotel is old and never been fully updated. A Queen bed was all that was available so it comes with a handicap bathroom which takes up half of the room. Wallpaper was peeling, plaster falling of the ceiling, the fill spout in the tub almost fell off when I pulled the lever to turn on the shower. Carpets smelled and looked very old. The linens appeared […] clean so the maids did a good job with what they had to work with. The one chair in the room was covered with stains. Also the safe in the room did not work. The daytime desk clerk was not the most friendly, but I am finding everywhere that desk clerks lack customer service skills. The staff was very nice and tryed hard to please. However they were not able to. This hotel is in need of a major overhaul. I stayed at this hotel with two family members for three nights and we each agree that we would never stay there agaian. The carpets are in dire need of replacement and we had roaches in our room. We complained about the bugs and […] were allowed to switch rooms since they said they were going to spray it. We moved into what was supposed to be another "non-smoking room" but it reeked of cigarette smoke. Each of the two rooms had drainage issues with the bathroom showers and sinks. We had to stand in water over our ankles while showering. The price might be right, but the room definaitely is not. Also we were told there would be free breakfast, but what we got was a voucher for the Ihop restaraunt, which provided a very limited menu with the voucher. Read more

Compared to the Ambassador we stayed at in the center of New Orleans, this place was tops. The beds were soft and the pillows- puffy. The place was really close to New Orleans so we didn't pay much in gas to go back and forth and the free parking helped out. As far as the appearance, it's nice but a little worn out. It's much better than it's other […] chain on East 1-10 Service Road. That place looked dumpy. This one was well kept, but in the rooms you could see were some people didn't treat it well. There was off coloring on the paint where holes were patched, some cigarette burns on the curtains, and new paint was put on a broken piece of our door (which wasn't dry when we accidentally touched it). That can be expected from a cheap hotel, though, so it didn't bother me much. Service was good, though I don't like the cleaning woman who banged on the door two hours before check out to ask if we were leaving. The place was nice and comfy and had a lived in feeling. That's why we were able to feel relief when we'd come back from a busy and tiring day out in the city. I'd definately book this hotel again. Unfortunately I may not be able to because it's not pet friendly. My best friend (who travels with me) wants to be able to bring her dog with us on trips from now on. Read more

Great place to stay, just a quick highway ride right around the Corner from Downtown New Orleans & all the action! Great room & had complimentary breakfast, which was wonderful from IHOP!

Rooms need a bit of remodeling. I had to switch rooms due to the toilet's flusher handle being broke but the staff was courteous and swapped the rooms without any questions. An ihop being located in the hotel was a plus! Located about 10-15 mins from the French Quarters.

I read practically every review posted and still booked this hotel I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived early. The desk clerk allowed me to check in at 1:00 pm instead of 4pm. My room was nice and clean, housekeeping was friendly and attentive . The desk clerk was exceptional, very helpful with local restaurant info directions. I would stay there […] again. This hotel is old and in sore need of updating, but it was clean, which is after all, the most important thing we look for. We did have a toilet that wouldn't flush all the way, and although the maintenance staff was very prompt, they couldn't quite fix it. The amenities are adequate, however, I will say that the breakfast is nothing more than a coupon […] at Ihop for coffee or juice and oatmeal or cereal, which was fine, but you should know that it is nothing more than that unless you want to pay for a full breakfast at the attached Ihop restaurant. The front desk staff was not very friendly and seemed like we were bothering them we we would need anything. In fact, when we would ask about the breakfast, it seemed that they really did not want to give us the breakfast coupon as if it were coming out of their pocket. All in all, we would probably not stay there again as I think for a couple of bucks more a night you can find a much better updated hotel to stay in. Read more

Nothing special about this hotel, but they have all the basic amenities in the room and pretty clean. It is convenient hotel to stay. There is i-Hop in the hotel and many restarants and shops etc if you drive 5min. Pretty convenient location to drive to downtown New Orleans!

There was one clerk handling check in as well as booking the party room/problems, etc. and the check in she had to go through (copy the license, etc.) was awkward and took some time. Also, the access from the highway took several turns to get to the hotel, but the rooms were good and comfortable.

There were ROACHES in the room. Peeling wallpaper, globbed on caulk around the sink. Hall needed vacuuming. Dirty drapes, and with cigarette holes. There were 3 burn marks on the ceiling from probably a cigar. Bedskirt was very wrinkled. Just starting to look run down and like no one really cared. We checked-in about 4pm. Our clerk first seemed ploite. The room was very comfortable and accessible. It had a small balcony view of the pool. I loved the room. We left and went to Bourbon Street and the River Walk like most tourists do. When we returned that night our room keys no longer worked. We went to the front desk and one guy was on the phone...that […] was ok he at least headnodded us while on the phone. The other guy stood there shuffling papers, then looked up at us and walked off like we were not standing there waiting to be helped.....Really???? How rude. Other than that our stay was pleasant. The hotel is connected to a IHOP. The restaurant was very hot and crowded, but our server was the best in the world. She got a 30% tip and deserved it. Read more

on a short weekend trip to new orleans, my boyfriend and i were re-routed to this hotel because the one where we had originally reserved a room was over-booked. hotels.com was great about this change (they called us to let us know about the mix up, arranged for everything else, and got us a much better hotel--our original was closer to the airport whereas […] this one is in the french quarter). the hotel's location is great: you can walk to everything, but it's not so close to bourbon st so that you would be bothered by the loud music and partying at night. the room was very clean and the beds comfortable. the only problem we ran into was at breakfast. we wouldn't have normally eaten at the holiday inn restaurant, but a voucher for free breakfast made us change our minds. though there weren't very many people in the restaurant (btw, they only serve breakfast), the wait staff was *extremely* slow coming to take our order and bringing our food. the food was not good--as it is to be expected i guess at holiday inn--but you would think that they could at least be speedy. they may have just had an insane morning (because there was a conference there) and we did get in closer to 10:30, but nevertheless... i say, free breakfast or not, it was not worth it at all. furthermore, i wouldn't say that the food would be as good and much less better than what you would get at nearby restaurants that are comparably priced. next time, we're skipping the holiday inn restaurant, but staying at this hotel again! and bringing our bathing suits: the (heated) pool looked great, as did the small courtyard it is located in! Certainly not a five star property, but decent and clean. Obviously an older facility but fairly well updated. Staff responsive and courteous. Convenient to many areas if you have a car. Pet peeve: no towel racks in bath.

One of the good things about the location was the st. patricks day parade was right outside the hotel on the streets. We arrived in Metairie for Mardi Gras just before some major rains. The rooms were clean and available for check in as soon as we arrived. During the night the rains came and the thunder was spectacular and it caused flooding all around the building. Cars were stalled and even my room had some flood water seep in through the sliding glass door. We checked […] out the next day to travel home however we ran into some car trouble and ended up having to stay another night with the car at the dealership.
