"inexpensive and a short drive to downtown"
Art Prize was going on so no rooms available Downtown, so I checked in here on a truck route. Spacious room, comfortable, and helpful staff. Easy 3 miles to the heart of Art Prize. I'd use it again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Only one pool unless staying on the first floor"
Info said it had an indoor pool and an outdoor pool but it does not tell you that the outdoor pool is for first floor guests only. 5th floor pool was VERY Cold. Beds were not comfortable at all. Everything else was nice but not what I would have expected at a Howard Johnson hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It needs an overhaul."
There were some drunk, rowdy people in one room that could be heard throughout the hall. The owners haven't put much money into the hotel in the four years we have been coming there, so there is deferred maintenance and it's starting to look grody. It's not in the best part of town. It was cheaper than downtown, though, and only 3 miles south. We won't […] go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A little rough, but it did the job"
Rough neighborhood, room okay, pretty run down infrastructure. Time to invest in or sell.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Howard Johnson Grand Rapids 28th Street"
Our only complaint, in the second room we were in, was the cleanliness of the bathroom floor. The room was adequate size. The first room we were assigned was a handicapable room, which we had asked for, but we had also asked for a king bed which apparently is not available at this hotel. Therefore we had to seek a transfer to another room since we cannot […] sleep in a regular double bed and haven't in 45 years of marriage!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
