We generally stay in Marriotts, but I was tired of paying Marriott prices, so I chose the La Quinta instead. For the price, you get a lot more at LQ...breakfast, wi-fi included. "Clean, Comfortable, Convenient"
The LaQuinta - Greenville is VERY nice. The room was clean and comfortable and quite large. There was a microwave and little refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. We tend to prefer to walk after a long drive. The hotel was an easy walk to a large shopping mall and several restaurants (but you can't assume S. Carolina drivers will yield to pedestrians […] regardless of a clearly lit "WALK" light!). The hotel is also convenient to I-385 which gives you a straight shot right into Greenville. "Convenient but poor service"
I was very disappointed in the service. The room was up to date and clean when I arrived. However, I was there for two nights and there was no evidence that the cleaning staff made any attempt at servicing the room. Just because I hung up my towels and left the "clean sheets please" sign off of the pillow shouldn't mean they don't make the bed, empty […] the trash cans, or wipe the counters in the bathroom. This was such a nice hotel. We were moving from Austin, TX to Raleigh, NC. We had been driving all day when we got to the hotel. Front desk wasvery helpful with check in and food delivery in area. The layout of the room was great and it appeared to be nearly new. very clean and comfortable. The only downfall(s) was the breakfast didn't have much to offer... the normal waffles, cereal and yogurt but not much more. La Quinta provides good value for the money. I stay there most times when I got o SC. The breakfast bar is still a problem as far as choice and quality is concerned. Also, the staff seems more interested in the morning paper than in maintaining food levels.
