The hotel/condo was good for our needs -- easy access to the gondola and ski slopes and a pool for post-skiing play with a six year old. Read the fine... print re the $20 resort fee per night -- that surprised us at checkout. Not a super sound - proof building -- the place was only 40% full when we were there but I could hear neighbors moving around. More hotel-y than condo-y in that regard but if you can get a good rate, it seems good for Mammoth. Service was great too- someone really helped us with the faulty DVD player in our room, coming back three times. Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 12, 2013

    Dining

Campo Mammoth - Inspired by Chef Mark Estee's famed Campo Reno, recently named one of Esquire Magazine's 2012 'Best New Restaurants in America.' Campo is your neighborhood restaurant, a gathering spot for great food and drink, and sharing good times with friends and family. Affordable and family-friendly, Campo Mammoth offers the best in organic, local and seasonal ingredients, the menu features homemade pizzas, handmade pastas and handcrafted salumi. Craft beers and handcrafted cocktails are also on tap at Campo.
The Smokeyard - A classic American barbeque joint, Smokeyard features American comfort food as well as steakhouse fare. Featuring some of the best deals in town it is worth checking out even if you are on a budget.
Petra's Bistro and Wine Bar - Located in the Alpenhof Lodge. Features wine with casual fine dining. Restaurant menu changes daily. Experience Mammoths only wine cruvinet and enjoy 28 fine and unique wines by the glass.
Gomez - A Mammoth Staple since 1993 - this family run Mexican restaurant moved to The Village recently. But they still feature some of the best Mexican food in town - a great Happy Hour and tasty margaritas. It is a great choice for a full meal or a leisurely drink with some complimentary chips.
Side Door Cafe - Featuring European savory fare. Crepes/Paninis/Tapas. A wine shoppe and Bar offering a library of fine wines-imported and micro brewed beers-fresh coffee roasted in Mammoth Lakes-all in a relaxing and classy atmosphere.
Old New York Deli and Bakery - Features a full breakfast/lunch and dinner menu including omelets/lox from Brooklyn/deli sandwiches/burgers/salads/homemade Matzo Ball soup and breads/homemade pastries and more than two dozen varieties of bagels as well as free Wi-Fi.
Lakanuki - Like many other world class ski towns the male/female ratio is not exactly balanced in Mammoth so the owners decided to acknowledge the occasional lack of ladies in their restaurants name. Ironically this Tiki apres ski bar is usually raving with both genders. Swing by for their signature Mai Tai/Margarita or tasty Polynesian food.
Starbucks Coffee - Pick-up a specialty coffee drink before hopping in The Village gondola. And if you are here in the summer there are plenty of iced drinks to choose from. Of course there are always great pastries and baked goods too.
Clocktower Cellar - Clocktower cellar is open nightly and offers an extensive selection of tap and bottled brews, fine wine, pool table, games, big screen televisions and more.

    Recreation

The Village Gondola is just steps from the hotel and takes skiers directly to the slopes at Canyon Lodge. On property guests can enjoy a heated pool/five hot tubs/three fitness centers/a media room and an arcade. The best shopping/dinning/nightlife/events and entertainment in the area is right outside your door in the Village at Mammoth. The hotel/condo was good for our needs -- easy access to the gondola and ski slopes and a pool for post-skiing play with a six year old. Read the fine print re the $20 resort fee per night -- that surprised us at checkout. Not a super sound - proof building -- the place was only 40% full when we were there but I could hear neighbors moving around. More […] hotel-y than condo-y in that regard but if you can get a good rate, it seems good for Mammoth. Service was great too- someone really helped us with the faulty DVD player in our room, coming back three times. Read more

The rooms show a little wear, but are overall very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Right in the center of town close to shopping and food. The gondola is right at your feet and drops you at Canyon Lodge. The bed was super!

The Good: This hotel is right in town making the access to shops, restaurants, bars, & the gondola to the mountain literally steps from your room. There are several large jacuzzis, so you can usually find an empty one for a relaxing soak. Our room was very clean. The Bad: This is an expensive hotel, and for that high of a price, I expect better conditions. […] The room was showing age. Large frayed spot in the carpet (actually a hole!). Dingy couches. Even the in-room robes were frayed. And the bed was uncomfortable. Overall: If the hotel were to just do some maintenance to make the high price worth it, this would be a stellar place to stay. Great "ski in - ski out" location, definitely worth the money. The village has everything you might need, including covered garage. The apartment was kind of small, and in the same building with the night club, so a little bit noisy. All together, convenience of the location and easy access to the slops beet all other “flows”. We loved the room, full kitchen, though we didn't need it for one night. Staff was great - but the room was warm and even with help from the staff, we couldn't get it cool enough for us to sleep well (even in early November).

Loved it, but we would have liked to have known that there is no heat during this time of year because the fireplaces are turned off at this time of year. My husband and I had a really nice time staying at this hotel. We loved having a full kitchen in the condo to be able to cook and save a little money by doing so. The staff was very helpful in terms of directing us and letting us know what free services were available in the area, as well as good hiking areas. The only problem that we ran into was related […] to the timeliness of maintenance help. When we arrived at the hotel the toilet was clogged, and we requested that someone come to fix it for us as there was not a plunger in the room. Nobody ended up coming to the room or following up after calling three times. My husband and I had to fix it ourselves, which was a little disappointing. Overall, we had a really nice time. Read more

The Village Lodge has a wonderful location in the heart of Mammoth Village, where there are all kinds of activities and events for families. It's a nice place and very conveniently located. The rooms seemed a little tight, but clean and nice enough. The hotel staff was also friendly. There is no a/c in the bedrooms (at least not in ours), which made leaving the window open at night essential. Well, the restaurants and bars are right under neath you, so you are up as late as everyone outside […] is up. For us, that was 2am-3am each night. No rest. Stayed in a studio and an one-bedroom suite. Very clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies. Fireplaces are turned off for the summer (kinda bummed on that) and the room(s) has a portable A/C which sufficed. Front desk staff, notably Michelle, were excellent considering they were short staffed. All other staff from maintenance to maids were friendly […] and accommodating when the need arised. Both nights had rooms facing the outside of the establishment, no problem with noise. The following are improvements that could be made: Elevators can be slow Pool towels need to be renewed There were only 16 poolside lounge chairs. Would certainly recommend this place to others. We just came back from Mammoth. The mountain was partialy open and the village was like a ghost town. It was very nice for a mountain resort. No musty smells (which is always good for a hotel that can be very damp). The maid service was great. Pool and spa were not very well located. They were in the middle of the Village (a bit too exposing for my taste). Didn't want to walk through a publicly traveled "mall" in my bathing suit and robe. Underground […] parking a huge plus and secure entrances. Our tv's were at least 10 years old - not too good. Location was perfect. Walk to shops, restaurants, little grocery and the gondola. Location cannot be beat, your right by all the shops, Starbucks, restaurant and Gondola. Rooms are good size, there clean and have cabin feel even though there not. Hotel is very nice and a fantastic location. We were located on the 4th floor overlooking the village so it was quite noisy late at night (I had expected this though from prior reviews I read, anyone staying at the Village should just request a room away from the main drag, which I didn't do) but the main problem was that the room was HOT! We couldn't […] use the great fireplace that comes in each room and they had to hook up a portable AC machine and keep the windows open. But...it was still a great place and I'd stay there again. Negatives: Wifi was not good at all, room & 3rd floor temperature too hot. Nice, but expensive option to experience Mammoth Lakes. Central location in the Village, close to shops and the slopes. Very clean, decent but not spectacular amenities. The Village Lodge is a beautiful property, conveniently located at the bottom of the Canyon Lodge gondola (the lower altitude is also a plus). The lodge is a full service resort property with spacious heated swimming pool, several hot tubs, shops and restaurants. We booked a studio for three nights with two King beds; however, the beds were queen size. […] We found a great deal on Hotels. com and the room was probably the low end in the Village Lodge, however, it provided plenty of space for three and offered a nice kitchen area for meals. The room was is a noisy location near the entry door and laudry service, but because there were so few guests at the end of April, the noise was not a bother. In another circumstance, I might have complianed and requested another room. The restaurants on the property were fair; the Smokehouse being our favorite. The service at the restaurants was mearly adequate. I recommend walking to the Westin and dining at White Cedar or driving to town. We are a bit spoiled by our previous stay at the Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek, but the Village Lodge property has the potential to be a great resort with an upgrade in the quality of the services provided in the village; in particular, the restaurants and activities (other than skiing). I will return to the Village Lodge. Read more

This hotel is in a prime location next to the canyon gondola. It's also next to many restaurants, shops and bars. This is both a plus and a minus. We went to mountain bike in Mammoth for a summer trip and overall the hotel was great- clean, good location, large. Really love this lodge, however, we have stayed here six different times, and have always found it too noisy!!!! The noise level between midnight and 3 am is horrible! It doesn't matter which lodge location you stay in....the noise is really bad (winter and summer)!

What a gorgeous hotel. Large bedroom with kitchen and warm relaxing lounge room. Absolutely loved it. The restaurant downstairs is delicious.

Nice place. Nice big rooms. Wifi worked well. Great locatiin for exploring Mammoth. Only real negatives were that the $25 resort fee was a bit cheeky and it would have been nice if they served breakfast.

We used this location to break up a long drive. Wow, what a spectacular area it is! The Hotel is comfortable and clean, best of all it's right in the middle of all the action.

Great place to stop for a few days on a road trip in the area of Yosemite. The Village is lovely and the Hotel matches it . Studio type room large but very cosy and clean with balcony. Open fire and lots of wood . We loved it. Lots of outdoor activities and great for summer or winter break. Friendly staff and atmosphere in Hotel and Village.

we stayed at the Village Lodge for one night on our way to Vosemite national park. The hotel and room was comfortable and spacious, which made for a relaxing night. The room had a kitchen, which allowed us to enjoy a 'home' cooked meal in the comfort of our room. The room was big enough for us to enjoy our evening without feeling cramped up (like we […] would have done in a smaller room). We went off-season (end of September) so the area was very quiet. I imagine it would be a lively place to be during the season. There were plenty of bars and restaurants near by (all of which were still open, just a little quiet). Because it was off-season, there was maintenance being carried out to the pools and jacuzzis, which was a shame. Overall, a nice place to stop off on the way to somewhere else. Read more

Loverly accommodation unfortunatly nobody told us that everything would be shut during our 3 day stay. Managed to get dinner at a resturant and a drink at a pub on the first night then everything closed unitl November.

We (family of 4 from Norway) had a great time at Mammoth Lakes and enjoyed our stay at The Village Lodge a lot. Conveniently placed and spacy condo, with all amenities at arms length, this was a very ggod experience. Mammoth Lakes offered great out dors activities, such as MTB, Hiking and fishing.
