The hotel/condo was good for our needs -- easy access to the gondola and ski slopes and a pool for post-skiing play with a six year old. Read the fine print re the $20 resort fee per night -- that surprised us at checkout. The rooms show a little wear, but are overall very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Right in the center of town close to shopping and food. The gondola is right at your feet and drops you at Canyon Lodge. The bed was super!

The Good: This hotel is right in town making the access to shops, restaurants, bars, & the gondola to the mountain literally steps from your room. There are several large jacuzzis, so you can usually find an empty one for a relaxing soak. Our room was very clean. My husband and I had a really nice time staying at this hotel. We loved having a full kitchen in the condo to be able to cook and save a little money by doing so. The staff was very helpful in terms of directing us and letting us know what free services were available in the area, as well as good hiking areas. When we arrived at the hotel the toilet was clogged, and we requested that someone come to fix it for us as there was not a plunger in the room. It's a nice place and very conveniently located. The rooms seemed a little tight, but clean and nice enough. The hotel staff was also friendly. There is no a/c in the bedrooms (at least not in ours), which made leaving the window open at night essential. Well, the restaurants and bars are right under neath you, so you are up as late as everyone outside […] is up. For us, that was 2am-3am each night. No rest. Stayed in a studio and an one-bedroom suite. Very clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies. Fireplaces are turned off for the summer (kinda bummed on that) and the room(s) has a portable A/C which sufficed. Front desk staff, notably Michelle, were excellent considering they were short staffed. All other staff from maintenance to maids were friendly […] and accommodating when the need arised. Both nights had rooms facing the outside of the establishment, no problem with noise. We just came back from Mammoth. The mountain was partialy open and the village was like a ghost town. We could not enjoy skiing and snowboarding much and we were disappointed to choose this destination around this time of year, but we are very happy with the services provided by Michelle at the front desk. It was very nice for a mountain resort. No musty smells (which is always good for a hotel that can be very damp). The maid service was great. Pool and spa were not very well located. They were in the middle of the Village (a bit too exposing for my taste). Didn't want to walk through a publicly traveled "mall" in my bathing suit and robe. The Village Lodge is a beautiful property, conveniently located at the bottom of the Canyon Lodge gondola (the lower altitude is also a plus). The lodge is a full service resort property with spacious heated swimming pool, several hot tubs, shops and restaurants. We booked a studio for three nights with two King beds; however, the beds were queen size. […] We found a great deal on Hotels. com and the room was probably the low end in the Village Lodge, however, it provided plenty of space for three and offered a nice kitchen area for meals. The room was is a noisy location near the entry door and laudry service, but because there were so few guests at the end of April, the noise was not a bother. In another circumstance, I might have complianed and requested another room. The restaurants on the property were fair; the Smokehouse being our favorite. The service at the restaurants was mearly adequate. I recommend walking to the Westin and dining at White Cedar or driving to town. We are a bit spoiled by our previous stay at the Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek, but the Village Lodge property has the potential to be a great resort with an upgrade in the quality of the services provided in the village; in particular, the restaurants and activities (other than skiing). I will return to the Village Lodge. Read more

This hotel is in a prime location next to the canyon gondola. It's also next to many restaurants, shops and bars. This is both a plus and a minus. It becomes very loud at night from 8pm to 2am, especially on weekends. My children woke up scared several times at night because of the loud yelling. Great place to stop for a few days on a road trip in the area of Yosemite. The Village is lovely and the Hotel matches it . Studio type room large but very cosy and clean with balcony. Open fire and lots of wood . We loved it. Lots of outdoor activities and great for summer or winter break. Friendly staff and atmosphere in Hotel and Village.

we stayed at the Village Lodge for one night on our way to Vosemite national park. The hotel and room was comfortable and spacious, which made for a relaxing night. The room had a kitchen, which allowed us to enjoy a 'home' cooked meal in the comfort of our room.
