On Kauai’s south side, Poipu is known for its gentle waters, which make snorkeling and swimming ideal; Mahaulepu Beach and Shipwreck Beach are among the favorites. Nearby, the Kauai Coffee Company, Hawaii’s largest coffee plantation, is open for tours. West of Poipu, sweeping vistas greet visitors at the Waimea Canyon, while the surf and lava collide at the Sprouting Horn.

"Wonder why it's cheap?"
Took a chance on this place; it is exactly what you think it is. A tired old property, trying to rebrand itself as new and hip (eg: Lava's and "Rum Fire") though based on the pace they are tackling "Rum Fire" with don't plan on enjoying it until 2014 or so. Poipu is a great location and this property was probably awesome when Reagan took office; which […] ironically was when our room was last remodeled; it now features "4 star" features like: moldy carpet, mildew scented tile/drywall in bathroom, popcorn ceiling, no screen door on balcony, and my favorite walls/doors that allow you to hear every word from your neighbors and their tv. Lava's is okay but don't spend $20 on the breakfast buffet; do yourself a favor go to koa kea (should have stay here it's beautiful and the staff is great) or anywhere else. Poipu is the best place in the island in our opinion; just kicking ourselves for not trusting our gut and going with koa kea..... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tough Luck"
I had a medical condition that didn't allow me to fly for several weeks. I had to push back my vacation two weeks, and I lost my 3 nights payment due to the no change, no cancellation policy. I've stayed here before and it's nice hotel(ocean front rooms are great), but be careful when booking a room here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Sheraton Kauai Resort"
Should not call themselves a resort. Only 1 restaurant and 1 bar. Tiny pool. Buildings too spaced out. One tiny salon. Room service only available 5 hours each day. No on site store for snacks or toiletries. Small gym with rusted old non-functioning equipment. No wonder it was a steal. Only thing they did deliver o. Was the ocean front view.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Under too much construction"
The Sheraton will be beautiful when their construction is complete. They have the whole ocean side shut down for construction and the rooms are in the convention side of the hotel - older rooms - very small rooms. We have stayed at Holiday Inns nicer than this at 25% the cost of the Sheraton. Additionally - they have no dining area - you eat in the […] convention rooms - even though they offer you free breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel at all until remodling is completed (which the Sheraton states it will be June) - but by the look of things - I think it will be much later than June, 2011. "Joke"
It was awful. The general manager lied to me. Promised they wouldn't have construction during my HONEYMOON. Everything was closed- beach access was blocked off, and they still had audacity to charge full price and a $25 a night charge for "parking" - Would NEVER STAY THERE, EVER. "A waste of money"
It was loud and the hotel was dirty. I think it was a rip off. I have traveled to many exotic locations and feel that this hotel was unimpressive.Genuine Expedia guest review

Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very disappointing experience"
We had great expectations for our stay at Sheraton Kauai but from the first moment we were let down by the staff. A 26-hour flight and bus ride is long so the last thing you need is queue at the check-in desk - Sheraton only had 1 employee to take care of everything related to check-in and check-out. Come on... Sheraton told us that they charged a […] small daily fee when we checked in. No worries, we thought it was going to be small, only to realize that they had the impudence to charge 22 dollars a day. (!) That's extra compared to their already premium prices (that are far too high compared to what you get; we know now). Over last the few years my girlfriend and I have stayed at many similar priced resorts in Hawaii, Mauritius, Dubai, Koh Samui, other parts of Tahiland and in Europe so we know what to expect; Sheraton is not on par with any of these. Sheraton was doing some expansion work of some kind that was extremely noise (trucks mostly). We don't blame them but we would surely have liked to have been informed before our stay (that could have saved us a terrible experience at Sheraton in the first place). We thought we take some lunch at Sheraton after we arrived. I ordered a Corona and my girlfriend a cocktail. They served it in plastic cups - whaaat... Shortly after we were shocked to see that they also served the food with plastic forks and plastic knives! And the food was rubbish - absolutely inedible. I don't like typical US food in particular - it's too fat, has too much sugar and lacks dedication - but of all the cheap (and expensive) restaurants that we have visited in Hawaii, Sheraton served the worst lunch. Their breakfast was decent, however, and for some reason the served in real glasses here. The beach and pool was not bad but I had certianly expected better. So, thinking about staying at the Sheraton Kauai? Don't. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
