"TDay @ Virginia Beach"
Only complaint is the sound proofing between rooms. Was in 614 on the end and when the guest checked out of 615, the following morning the alarm cloock went off around 6 am with no one to shut it off. I called front desk & they sent someone up but the front desk said they could hear the alarm over the phone when I called. Following night at quarter […] to 10pm I was playing some cd music & new guest with small children called front desk & complained we were too loud. I'm 55 & pretty responsible ... 10pm isn't real late and the music was not that loud ... however I'm sure they could hear so I turned it off but I felt like I was limited in enjoying my room becuase of concern over the sound carrying to the adjoining room. "Family with small children"
We enjoyed our stay with our two small children(3 and 1). The pool only goes to 4 feet and was perfect for our 3 year old. Several of the staff reached out to our kids to make them feel right at home. The staff are friendly and very quickly responded to our request to have some things in the room fixed. The hotel does have a well used feel to it and […] I would not be surprised if most rooms have something slightly broken but still useable. The rooms are also clean but far from immaculate. Be aware that you are responsible for taking out your trash and exchanging any dirtied linens. "Over priced"
At first arrival to the Ocean Sands Resort, the front desk attendant treated me like she was doing me a favor by letting my family stay in "her" hotel. Not once did she say hello or welcome. She ran through all the "Resort" rules and shoved a contract in my face to initial and then sign. There was no mention of the requests I made 2-3 weeks earlier […] to Expedia during booking for the type of room I preferred. I asked the attendant about my previously requested room preference, she made an excuse, and put the room keys on the desk. Once I laid eyes on the old room (oh yeah, I mean suite) I paid way too much per night for, I felt like a fool..OMG and the rest of the old hotel (oh yeah, I mean resort) looks like it was probably beautiful in the 70s early 80s with their old pool towels with the once blue now dirty looking stripe down the center.... It looks like the old hotel used to have balconies but decided to close them in to be able to call the the room a suite. "Exceptional!"
Absolutely EVERYONE we met on the hotel staff went the extra mile to be helpful, courteous, and friendly. We were very pleased. The room suited our needs, we enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi, it was nice to have a fitness room and ATM in-house, and there were multiple things to do within walking distance. It cost a bit more than we are accustomed to paying--but […] it was so excellent that we both said we would save the contact information for our next trip to the area. We had some rowdy teens who rented a room nearby, and the staff responded quickly and successfully to our request for assistance to address raucous partying in the wee hours--it is our understanding they were re-routed to an activities room more suited to late night merrymaking. Good location, comfortable small suite for 2 people with well-equiped kitchen, staff was always cheerful, polite and helpful. They bent over backwards to answer questions, give directions to places of interest.They made us feel very welcome. The staff at the desk were cheerful and friendly. The room was spacious with a well stocked kitchen, full sized fridge, cook top stove, coffee maker, dishwasher and microwave. There was a dining table to seat four and a sleeper sofa in the front room. The bedroom had a huge window overlooking the ocean. We slept with the windows open at night listening […] to the waves roll in. There was a large parking garage with key card access to the hotel (once our key card didn't work) and an elevator right inside the door. The halls and elevator were the only areas of the hotel that looked a little dated and had kind of a musty smell. The room itself smelled very fresh. We made good use of the hotel's gorgeous pool area and the complementary tanning bed. The tanning bed was a very old model but it was sanitized before each use and worked very well. The hotel also has a massage therapist available by appointment that was excellent! My husband and I both had hour long massages and enjoyed every minute! Guests should know there is no room service during their stay but towels can be exchanged at the pool for fresh towels. There is a vacuum in the room, extra toilet paper and tissues, as well as dish soap/sponge, dishwasher tablets, little salt/pepper shaker (thimble sized), soap and shampoo dispenser in the shower and by the sink. The hotel was great. Large spacious room with full Kitchen and seperate bedroom. The room was very clean and well kept up. The bed was comfortable and the lenens were great. Lots of pillows. The hotel even had a quaint little bar / resturaunt which was very convinient. The only draw back of the hotel was there was no balcony. When you go down to the […] beach to me that is a big deal. Nous avons passé un très beau séjour. Comparativement aux autres hotels avoisinnants il était plus abordable pour ce qu'il offrait. Par contre, il faut savoir aussi que comparativement aux autres hôtels, quoique toutes les chambres ont une vue sur la plage, aucune des chambres n'a de balcon. Aussi, il n'y a pas de ménage quotidien de la chambre à moins […] de demander ce service, et ce moyennant 50$/jour de plus. Toutes les chambres contiennent une chambre fermée + un salon/cuisine avec sofa lit. 2 TV. Nous nous y sommes trouvé très confortable. Même s'il n'y a pas d'entretien quotidien il y a un aspirarteur dans la chambre si vous voulez enlever le sable qui se serait accumulé sur les planchers à votre retour de la plage et vous pouvez aller échanger autant de fois que vous le voulez les serviettes souillées ou mouiller pour des serviettes propres à la piscine de l'hôtel. Nous recommandons fortement cet hôtel pour son confort, propreté, la proximité de la plage, et la cuisinnette qui nous a permis de mieux manger que dans n'importe quel restaurant à proximité.
