"straight shot to the beach"
We love the Doubletree Hotels, so we expected this one to be as nice as the others. It was lacking in more ways then many others, but was not horrible. The hotel was very reasonable for the price. It was a short distance away from the boardwalk and they offered a shuttle service that ran every 30 min which was convenient. It was amazing, I wanted to get away to VA beach as a surprise trip for my boyfriend who is going away for college to Louisiana. He was estatic and couldnt get enough of the cookies! Everyone including matience was very friendly. Everyone made sure that our stay was very warming. The rooms were very clean, the only downside was if you were staying multiple days they didn't clean your room until 4-4:30. But then again they have over 200 rooms to clean. "What a dump!"
First of all, lett me just state, that a place has to be pretty bad for me to say somthing. I am not picky. However, this place.... I've got a list. lol. No seriously. 1.There was BLOOD ON THE COMFORTER. 2. We found out on the LAST DAY OF our stay, that we could request a refrigerator and microwave, then got an attitude when we asked for it. 3. The […] Ice machine was empty on several occations. 4. Room service didnt show up until 430pm, at which point, we just asked for some clean towels and made the bed ourselves. 5. Hallways were full of debris and cluttered with bags of dirty towels, vacuum cleaners and other room service items in the hallways. 6. The front desk staff was exceptionally rude. "not what i was expecting for a double tree/hilton"
The hotel is nice inside and out. Our room was not. We had a running toilet all weekend. We complianed twice a day for 3 days and it finally was resolved our last night. Our carpet had black stains on it and the room smelled like smoke. We searched our floor for the ice machine that was indicated by an arrow until we could not locate it and called to […] the front desk. THere is no ice machine on our floor, it was very annoying. They could not do anything for us regarding the toilet to accomodate us because the hotel was sold out and we booked through a 3rd party. the location was ok. It was nice beacuse there was a shuttle to and from the beach, but it stopped at 10 pm so we walked most nights and it was about a mile walk. It was OKAY all in all. "Double tree not a good place to stay."
I will not recommend this Hotel for two good reason. 1.The room that I had has no cooler and microwave. 2.I was placed close to generator at tent floor. Welcomed immediately by frustrated staff, (I blame the obnoxious customers) however, they kept their bearing and treated me very well.. Free cookies to boot! Out of the three elevators only one was operational our entire three day stay, so getting to and from our room to the lobby was a waiting game. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable, […] my only complaint is the blinds covered all but about a half inch of the window allowing sun light to pour in every morning... right in my eyes!!
