The hotel was old, dirty, and being renovated, so there was a lot of noise at times. Hotel was on the freeway, and the rooms on the freeway side were very noisy. Neighborhood was sketchy. Beds were comfortable and staff was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Terrible - DO NOT stay here"
Terrible. The first room I stepped into the heater was rattling so badly I returned to the front desk for a new room. The second room I went into smelled like a brothel. House keeping had sprayed so much perfume into the room my eyes nearly watered. "Not impressed"
The first night of our stay was terrible because we could not get ANY sleep. A local radio station had an event, and the party was extended on to the hotel room floors. We complained to the front desk, however it did not do much good. The following night was a lot quieter. "False Advertising on Hotel's Website"
In the dead of winter, all we wanted was a hotel with hot tub. Easy. This hotel seemed perfect because they boasted a hot tub AND sauna on their website. So, we booked and headed for the warmth! Then... we arrived... 1/4 mile AWAY from Town Center (not walking distance in 30 deg weather!) to a broken down (closed) hot tub and separate saunas for women […] and men. My husband and I were beyond bummed, as we didn't want to spend our "night away" in separate saunas. When we mentioned this to the girl at the front (which we had to because she saw us walk into the pool area and immediately walk out), she was unapologetic and rude to say the least. She acted like I was a spoiled snob asking for the world handed to me on a platter. We asked for other area hotels with the proper facilities and of course, she had no idea. So, we were forced to order shrimp (the ONLY thing not fried) and mojitos from the bar and sit in our room. Much like we would have done for way less money at home. I will say that the shrimp and mojitos were tasty; however, we will not return to this hotel or its subsidiaries for business or pleasure. If the employee had offered to upgrade our room, provide a dinner, provide complimentary vouchers for local restaurant/ cab, we would have been a repeat customer and forgiven the misrepresentation/ advertising mistake. Room was not very clean. When I booked room I was to have 2 double or queen beds because I have 2 teenage daughters. When I checked in I was given a king suite with a pull out sofa. My girls both couldn't fit on the pull out sofa.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I was a bit disturbed with the condition of room"
During check in I was told the carpets we damp because they were cleaned earlier that day. My hotel carpet ended up having a lot more water than I expected and by day 2 I was stepping in water puddles. "Dissapointed"
We chose the Crowne Plaza because we had such a great experience at a Crowne Plaza in Izmir, Turkey... Nothing about our stay in VA Beach was the same. We were hoping to get an early check in at the hotel (we were taking a red eye flight that would get is into VA around noon) and called 2 days prior to request one... the hotel wasn't willing to accommodate […] us at all. Our Room: The room was really stuffy unless the AC unit was on, and then it was very loud). Our small refrigerator in the room was so loud we requested that it be looked at... maintenance didn't show up for several hours and ended up replacing it. There was no vent in the bathroom, so hot showers made the entire room very humid. The wallpaper was missing in places. The bathroom walls and ceiling were speckled with old water marks and weird yellow flakes. The only plus was that the bed was very comfortable. The Staff: On the 2nd day we brought our lunch leftovers back to eat later. We asked the front desk for plates - they sent us to the restaurant. The Restaurant said they couldn't help us so they sent us back to the front desk. We just gave up. When housekeeping came by on the 4th day I asked for an extra mug, they gave me a dirty one and said, "You'll just have to clean it." There is a breakfast menu in the hotel booklet, but room service isn't available until after 5 pm. There's a strip mall down the street we ended up getting our food from. I was shocked at the condition of this hotel considering it was shown with a 3 1/2 Stars rating. The floors were filthy, the ac vents in the lobby were black with either mildew or dust, could not determine which. "Crowne Plaza, Virginia Beach, VA"
This Crowne Plaza was far more inferior than the upscale Crowne Plaza as I have known it from the past. To begin with, staff was not friendly nor welcoming upon check in. Then I found my room to be unacceptable due to noise from highway traffic, a dirty bathroom (coffee grinds in the trash can, and a dirty tub), and noisy plumbing in the shower. The […] first night, I was worn out from traveling, and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed. When I complained, the night manager merely brushed me off and offered me a free breakfast. She was not very understanding or compassionate, but when pressed further, indicated the possibility of providing another room the next day based on availability. The next morning, the day manager was more understanding, accommodating, and apologetic. She extended us the opportunity to move to a room on the other side of the building, out of earshot from the traffic. This room had better and more comfortable bedding (mattress pads vs none in the first room, cleaner bathroom and trash cans, flatscreen tv vs an older tv in the first room). Although there was no noise from the pipes in the new room, I could hear noise from pipes in surrounding rooms. On a more positive note, the bartender and maid were friendly, and the hotel was in close (driving) proximity to Town Center, restaurants, and stores. In the future if I have a choice, I will NOT stay at any Crowne Plaza. It didn't come close to meeting my expectations of the quality of Crowne Plaza As I have known it in the past. "Crown Plaza in Virginia Beach-3.5 stars?"
Entering the lobby of the Crown Plaza in Virginia Beach we were impressed with the hotel. That was the end of the good impressions. The carpet in the room felt damp. In the bathroom there were rust spots in the bath tub and stains on the ceiling. The couch had stains in the fabric that kind of gave us the creeps. The pool area though, took the prize. […] There was dirt in the bottom, hairs floating on top and the surrounding area needed to be picked up(a bandaid was among several things that had been left behind for us.
