"Reeked of smoke"
You have to walk through the smoke filled lobby to get to the hotel elevators. The stink of cigarettes wafted into the rooms and the blankets smelled that way, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"All around good experience except for housekeeping"
We enjoyed most everything about the hotel but were very unsatisfied with the housekeeping. We were there three days and all they did on a daily basis was make the beds - nothing was restocked. I literally had to call the front desk and ask for toilet paper. "Not bad for Iowa"

"Not bad, but some minor things."
I only had two things I wasn't fond of at the Ameristar in Council Bluffs. The first being the shower head not having hardly any water pressure, and the second being the beds (hard to compete w/since I have a memory foam mattress). Overall pretty good for the hotel section. The casino was a bit out of date compared to others but it is an older property. […] More table games would of been appreciated as we had a long wait for those. "glorified simple room"
Place to close 2 cig. smoke. BAD for allergies! View kinda ok It is close to steak +Lube rest. kids luv this rest. close to imax, + Kids Quest WONDERFUL! !Lots of OLDER Folks ,not to many children. "Smoke smell"
The smell of smoke in the lobby was, well, unexpected. I didn't know smoking was allowed. We are not gamblers so we didn't go in the casino. We didn't use the restaurants because of the smell of smoke that permeated the public areas. The room was great and there was no smell. The staff was friendly. If you are a smoker or don't mind the smell of smoke […] I would recommend the hotel. We will not stay here again simply because we smelled like smoke from just simply walking through the lobby. Response by Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs Smoking is only allowed on the casino floor and in designated smoking hotel rooms. It is not permitted in our restaurants or hotel lobby. I'm sorry if you felt the smoke was spreading from other areas. Our Facilities department does their best in maintaining the ventilation system to keep the air as fresh as possible. Hope you do reconsider returning.
"Room clean - service another matter."
Front desk personnel not happy. No tissue or towels in the room. Asked for towels, got them the next morning. Asked front desk at checkin for wake up call - never happened. Lobby/floors and elevators were full of smoke. Room was good. Temp in room set at 60. Tried to set to 72, would not reset. Multiple calls to front desk just rang and rang. Went down […] to front desk. Told that maintenance would check on it - nothing. Could not find a soda machine. Calls to operator no answer. Convenicence area in the lobby closed. We reserved a king non smoking room, however, when we got there the person checking us in said they only had a handicap room with two queen beds available. It worked out fine but I didn't like the idea of taking up a handicap room when there could have been someone who needed it. The casino boat itself is dark, and dirty appearing. "Ameristar- cruise-like atmosphere"
We were on a cross-country trip & this was an overnight stop. The staff were fantastic, friendly & helpful. The lobby was quite loud with rock videos pumping out of amplifiers. The only other complaint I had was the noise that people made in the halls late into the night/morning. Let me restate - the staff could not have been nicer. "Smoked Out"
I was not expecting how smoky it was. I knew it was a casino but it was an overwhelming, knock you on your butt, aroma of cigarette smoke. When we got home everything needed to be washed and even the suitcases needed to be aired out. I would never stay again because of that.
