"Still in need of attention"
This LaQuinta is not in as good of shape as the one next door. I was placed in a smoking room, next to the elevator shaft and was extremely disappointed. They did move me the next day to a non-smoking room. The TV's were very nice and the location was convenient for my business trip, but I would probably not stay there again. It's my understanding it […] had recently undergone renovations, but I would say they are not all complete and I'm not sure the minimal upgrades were enough. The room was decent. The hotel had a musty smell in hallways. There was no fridge in the room. One day housekeeping didn't finished their work in my room and left me without clean towels. The air seemed to run all the time to keep the room cool. I travel for work and like to try new hotesl as much as possible. The rate was good so I decided to give it a try. The hotel room was clean and comfy but the stairwell and hallways were nasty. Many smokers stand right outside the entrances which is unkind for non smokers. The smoke smell filled the lobby area. The hotel staff were not as helpful as […] they could be. "Convienent Business Hotel"
I needed a hotel near Broward College. This hotel is a 15 minute drive away. This time of year most hotels in South Florida are very pricey, but I found this La Quinta to be reasonable. "In spite of discriminatory behaviour, a good value for the money."
LQ,Sawgrass/Sunrise was a mixed experience for me. Firstly, my daughter and I had to walk across the street with all of our luggagae because my taxi had left me at the wrong property because there were two identically named hotels side by side. Secondly, the towels smelt really badly on my first night. i was too tired to complain. Thirdly, the Manager, […] when we went for breakfast Pedro told me that i needed to go back to my room since i got there at 9.05 am and breakfast was over at 9.00 am. I appreciated being allowed to take remaining food items. However, while in the room at least three other individuals came in and were allowed to have their breakfast without being asked to return to their room. My daughter is black, i am Indian, the other guests allowed to stay were caucasian/latino. This caused great embarrassment to my 14 yr old child who felt uncomfortable since the other guests were laughing . I feel it was discriminatory behaviour. Other than these events, i was pleased with the location, and especially with the friendliness , helpfulness and outstanding professionalism of Gladys, and the kindness of Shelly front desk staff. "Did not meet my expectations."
The staff, night and day, were both very polite. Other reviews of this hotel seemed to be mixed with concern to cleanliness of the room. I chose this one based on more recent reviews thinking that staff had changed; however, my room was loaded with disgusting things. There was hair, possibly pubic, in the tub, on the shower walls, long ones on towels. […] The bedding was cleaned, or smelled clean, but there were stains. The room smelled musty and there as sticky stuff on the carpet, like syrup. Upon close examination, you could see streak marks left behind from obviously careless cleaning of the room to match the rest of it. I was tired, the guy at front desk was so nice that I didn't want to bother him, so I just took a sleeping pill and nigh nigh I went. The bed was very comfortable. The plumbing drained well.
