West Chelsea with its hundreds of galleries and studios is the center of New York’s visual arts community and the neighborhood is also home to a thriving gay community. For its string of nightclubs, West 27th Street is known as Club Row. Historic sites have found new purpose like Chelsea Piers, which was converted to a sports complex, and High Line, an elevated rail line transformed into a park.see all hotels in New York
"Great except for..."
All was fine with the Chelsea Savoy...except for the Wi-FI connection...painfully slow or couldn't connect at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
$5 cab ride to penn station and times square...great 24 hour snack place across the street! Clean basic rooms, perfect if you're there to see the city and just want a nice, clean, safe place to sleep and shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
good basic hotel would be nice if the bar was operationalGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centered location at a decent price"
Great location for a decent price. The red line was right out the door. Flatiron district is down two blocks along with Eately.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Chelsea Savoy was okay"
Not a 5 star hotel but it was fine. Good location for what I wanted. The only complant was the wifi didn't work very well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, good value"
Nothing particularly special about the Chelsea Savoy, but nothing to complain about, and for a place that, when I looked, offered the best price in Manhattan, that's saying a lot. I was expecting a dingy shoebox of a room but it was plenty big, and nice and clean. There were two sets of towels in the room when we got there, and four of us, so I asked […] for more towels, and they brought more towels! This seems like a small thing, but I'd say the hotels I usually stay at—in the La Quinta/Hampton Inn kind of range—bat about .250 on requests like that. Also, there is free wifi, and I always appreciate it when hotels don't nickel and dime you for stuff like that. Or nickel and $20, as the case may be. No frills here, but for price and location it was more than fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location - Budget Hotel"
Booked this hotel for two nights, as I had business at Chelsea Pier. The hotel is conveniently located and makes it easy to get both uptown and downtown, as it is right on the Red Line subway. It is also close to Chelsea Pier. The hotel is clean and the people are very nice, but there are no special amenities and the rooms could use some updating. I […] felt as if I was in a 3 star European Hotel, which you might call "quaint" in Europe, but definitely below US standards. Hotels were scarce when I booked, so I settled. Probably would not book again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location out of the bustle of Times Square"
The hotel was very accommodating and organized. The room, with 2 double beds, was MUCH larger than anticipated. The bathroom, somewhat newly updated, was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant choices on both 7th and 8th Avenues were many and varied and the easy access to 2 different subway lines was very helpful. Overall the stay at the Chelsea Savoy […] was better than expected and I would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a tired room"
The hotel is in a great location, but it's really not all that great. The room was worse than Motel 6 quality! And for this we paid $300for one night! But it IS in Manhattan, in a pretty cool neighborhood, with half-block access to the subway. So I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. (And we DID have a really great time in NYC.)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, location, location!"
Loved my stay at Chelsea Savoy. The location is perfect. Go one direction, your downtown, another direction and your at the High Line. The people who work there are very friendly and will help you make the most of your trip with suggestions for day trips. Will stay there again my next visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pleasant hotel, reasonably priced, nice neighborhood convenient parking near by, lots of restaurants to choose from. It was convenient for an appointment in the area. I would definitely recommend it for a shot stay in New York.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel in Chelsea"
Spent 2 nights. It is a very basic hotel, similar to a motel room, but older in decor and bed linens. It has everything you would need for a room to bathe and sleep in.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice room in a great location at a decent price."
Stayed there for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. It's a pretty basic hotel, but it's clean and comfortable and a pretty good value. If you want more than a nice, basic room that's clean and comfortable, then you may want to look elsewhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good value for location"
Room size was large for NYC - we had 3 adults, and were v comfortable. Hotel is not mod-stylish like much of higher priced Chelsea, but perfectly adequate and clean. Had signs in hallways indicating "no smoking in hallways", which I think led some to believe that smoking in elevator was OK. Our room had no smoke smell, so we didn't care - sort of that […] NY spirit! And friendly, competent staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great place to stay at a fair price"
Great location, nice sized room (especially for a NYC hotel), location perfect, nice unobstructed view of 7th Ave., great restaurants all within walking distance, definitely will stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very conveniently located if one likes to walk around in Manhattan (and if one is tiered of walking, there is a subway station right next to the hotel), this is a nice place to stay: rooms are not too small, very clean, mattresses are hard (which I like), breakfast is not fancy but the coffee is decent enough, receptionists were friendly (though we […] didn't really need to interact much with them), and the money you safe if you stay there rather than in a more fancy hotel can be used to pay for a very decent dinner in one of the many restaurants that can be reached with a five or ten minute walk. Rooms were great. Breakfast was handy, pastry, bagels, and muffins with coffee and tea. Close to shopping, restaurants, HiLine, and Broadway. Parking garage half a block away was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Mid range hotel. Room was clean and staff was courteous. Nothing special and few amenities. Good location. Not the kind of room that you would want to spend much time in. TV was low quality.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Better than expected..."
We were a family of four and stayed in a room with two double beds on the 6th floor. The room was much larger than we expected. There was one large closet. The room had a small fridge, but not coffee maker. The television was a large LCD panel. The room was clean and the hotel staff was great. There is Wifi but it was really spotty - it allowed you […] to check email but nothing else. If I depended on internet access for work this would not have sufficed; we ended up using our smart phones for internet access. The free breakfast was coffee, tea, a couple of danish (which were never replenished) and bagels. The location is good - lots of eating options, grocery stores, ect. "pleasant small hotel"
well-located for our plans, and we liked the neighborhood. The hotel has pleasant rooms with free wi-fi,and serves continental breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Chelsea Savoy is an ideal place to stay when visiting NYC. Being on 23rd st, it is steps from the subway station on the 1 line. Getting around from this central location couldn't be easier, Macys is two subway stops away, and Times Square is three subway stops away. Chelsea is a great neighborhood full of great restaurants and great people watching. […] Check out the Donut Plant located two doors down in the Chelsea Hotel, you won't be disappointed. "very good for the price!!"
i expected a hotel with less quality, and the staff were very pleasant. They let us to store our luggage for free.Genuine Expedia guest review
Small room even that i ordered for 4 peoples with 2 beds, beds are poor and unconfortable. Outside metro like moving in the hotel. Desk are poor service. Morning coffe and bakery are beyond poor. The only thing is excellent is an location. No parking, even that in site it's signed like hotel got it's parking, 4 days of parking cost me 150 $.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location. Good economy hotel."
Rooms were clean, location was good. It was actually better than we expected, but it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. The beds were a little hard for our taste but overall it was pleasant and we would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location and good value"
Our flight in was early and we got to the hotel early (around 8:30 AM) while check-in time was not until 3:00 PM. I had called earlier to confirm that our luggage could be held until check-in time. However, even better, the front desk clerk accommodated us and let us in our room right away. The hotel is in a good location in the Chelsea area and there […] were 3 subway stations nearby, with one right across the street to get to the downtown area (South Ferry train). Most of the places we wanted to visit were within walking distance, including the Penn station from which we had to catch a train. There are plenty of eateries and convenience stores nearby. The room was comfortable and served its purpose since we were out during most of our stay. The free breakfast was decent, especially if you are into bakeries. I would stay there again. This hotel is in a great location but is in dire need for a total renovation. Hallway rug was filthy as well as the elevators. Overall old and grungy rooms and lobby. Not the kind of hotel you want to go back to. We were really dissapointed. The furniture in the rooms were gross. They do have a continental breakfast that looked good, muffins, bagels […] etc. If you like cream in your coffee bring your own. They only have skim or whole And they were in gallon containers. Weird. Twice the maid service left our morning coffee cups on the nightstand. I travel to NY at least four times a year. I was so disappointed with this hotel And I'm not a picky person. "Great value, great find"
In looking for a hotel that fits price, location, and cleanliness, it can feel like a crap shoot. This one met all standards. We couldn't be happier. I recommend it highly.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was fine except for the continental breakfast. The breakfast did not have anything to offer except bagels that were not fresh and cream cheese and coffee. No fresh fruit, or juice. No water either. Not much of a continental breakfast. Other then this the stay was OK. But, we did choose the Chelsea mainly because it did offer a breakfast option. So, […] this was a huge let down. "Clean and neat"
Not necessarily located in the center of the tourist attractions, but a decent hotel non-the less. Clean and helpful staff. Unfortunately not too well sound proofed. "convenient location in Chelsea and comfortable"
Family of four doing the Tourist thing in NYC - we chose Chelsea as it was near a lot of things we wanted to see (though actually, we took the subway all over anyway) and this hotel for the price. It was comfortable and quiet (we had a room at the back). The breakfast bagels and coffee aren't too exciting but that's fine; a bit of food in the morning […] and lots of restaurants nearby. Also a fridge in the room and a Trader Joe's around the corner. Very near all the subway stations on 23rd St. We'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Conveneient for enjoying NY"
The location of this hotel is very convenient for various activities. I enjoyed, of course, Musical, Cruising, Shopping, etc. It was very good having complimentary continental breakfast (breads, coffee, milk), as I had bought fruits beforehand at stores neaby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, affordable hotel in convenient location"
I thought that, for the price, the hotel was great. The room was clean. The bathroom was decent, and the shower was sufficient. Not the best, but what could you expect? The flat screen tv was a surprisingly nice touch, given that the hotel is on the older side. "Didn't love this hotel for the price we paid."
We needed a hotel in Chelsea and this location was good, but for the amount we paid for the room it was disappointing. Our room/furniture/bedding, etc... was kind of strange and really unattractive and the bed was not comfortable at all. The bathroom seemed clean but smelled moldy. We were glad that we didn't have to spend too much time in the room. […] I have stayed at much nicer hotels in NYC for the same price - and definitely will next time. Every time I have visited NYC, I always stay in an expensive hotel in Manhattan-----so I was very apprehensive about staying at a different hotel/differnet location. I was quite surprised how clean and accommodating it was! I will definitely stay there again. I also loved the location---Chelsea area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced and disappointing"
The chelsea savoy has reviews saying that it s clean but small. Well, clean is a stretch. The room felt like a dirty room rented from a slezy motel. Secondly, when we came in the room, the air conditioning was off and it took 1 hour to cool the room down from 95 degrees. Mind you, this is July. Third, the pillows were very flat and looked like they […] were 20 years old. We got some of the blankets to help supplement that. Fouth, the COUTAINS WOULD NOT CLOSE. There was no way to keep privacy or keep light from the NY street. If you want any kind of comfort or peasantness, AVOID THIS HOTEL! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to Penn station"
As a family, we had a quad with two double beds, and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room given how small hotel rooms usually are in Manhattan. The room was very well maintained and clean. The hotel location in Chelsea allowed us to walk to Empire State, Time Square and Rock Plaza. I intentionally booked a hotel close to Penn Station so […] that we didn't have to lug our suitcases in the subway stations that are not equipped with elevators or ramps. It took us about 10-12 min to walk to the Penn Station. Overall, the best feature of this hotel is its location, but everything else about it was pleasantly surprising as well.
