"Needs updating!"
Room furniture and decor needs some major updating. Polyester, quilted bedspreads are usually offered at much cheaper hotels. The beds were HARD and low. The windows did not have any drapes that closed, only cosmetic, allowing too much sun streaming into the room in the morning. The desk staff was not friendly and seemed annoyed when I shared with them […] that the drain in the shower was super slow and backs up into the tub. I also shared that the shower makes a loud whine sound unless it is turned all the way hot. I would definitely NOT stay here again. The only real plus was the location. "Comfort, convenience and value"
Hotel was simple but so clean and comfortable for very good value. Really nice location close to major attractions by foot or subway; Times Square , Greenwich village , Chinatown , etc. not too far from La Guardia airport$40 max in traffic. Great eateries around the neighborhood as well as food market. I would stay again. Hotel staff were fine not too […] friendly but not rude either. Answered all questions but did not offer more. All in all, a pleasant place to stay for a reasonable price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

No problem - we stayed here mainly for the location, also it was not expensive as NYC hotels go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location location"
Not a fancy place, but all we needed was a place to shower and sleep and didn't require $500/night luxuries. The subway is directly across the street and there are plenty of places nearby to eat (Irish Pub next door was great!) The room was big enough and clean. Great bagels in the morning with coffee, tea, hot chocolate. I'd go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My comments"
In the overall very good hotel, good location in manhattan. Very nice to have the subway right there. The windows are weak so the noise is load from the street. But so tired after a day in manhattan we have sleep well I have been missing a free wifi.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location"
This hotel is conveniently location. Rooms are good by NY standards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Convenience and Cost"
Hotel is very convenient to subways and Manhattan sights. It is probably the lower cost of full service hotels in Manahattan but still very expensive by our standardsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Times Square. Very next to Subway Station"
Good location in Manhattan. Very close to Times Square, Penn Station. Good neighborhood. Hotel was good. The breakfast at the hotel is very poor quality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, so-so hotel"
The room was relatively clean, overall, but run down, and the carpet and bedspreads were kind of gross. The air conditioner barely worked, and the street noise (we were on the second floor, facing 7th) and noise from the hallway were also a problem. The staff (excepting housekeeping) was rude, and the breakfast consisted of bagels, stale doughnuts, […] and weak coffee. Parking is down the street, $43/night. For Manhattan, I suppose it wasn't terrible for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Staff Experience"
Our bus arrived in New York at about 9:30 and only a couple of blocks from the hotel, we went to the hotel to see if we could put our bags in storage and the front desk clerk was very, very accomodating. She said the room we were assigned to was not ready but she did have a room she could put us in immediately. The room was very pleasant, a good sized […] and clean bathroom and a decent view. There were some cigarette burns on the nightstands which seemed a little strange for a non smoking room but there was no smell of residual smoke. The neighborhood was great and the red line subway stop was directly across the street. The neighborhood was fine, lots of eating establishments, the streets were clean and uncrowded. When we checked out on Sunday the front desk staff accomidated us with holding our luggage and giving us suggestions of what to do on a free afternoon in the city. We would definately stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel at a fair price"
We were in NYC for a family vacation and didn't want to spend a ton of money on a hotel we wouldn't spend a lot of time in. The Savoy fit our needs, nothing glamourous, and the breakfast was carb only, but the service was fine, subway across the street, great Chelsea location and good space for a NY hotel. The roll away cot was pretty lousy, even for […] our 11 year old and the hallways were not air conditioned, but it was clean, safe, and a good deal. Street noise was not bad, typical I assume for any stay in NY. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean hotel & Price was very reasonable"
I have to say that the one thing the hotel really needs to work on is their breakfast that is included in the price. We had tickets to one of the sites at 8:30 and they don't open for breakfast until 8:00a.m.! Which I find whether you are on vacation or a business traveler that breakfast should be available much earlier and with a little more variety […] besides bagels. There were a few croissants but were always gone by the 3rd person and never refilled which should have been a sign to them that the customers were wanting more of a variety. "Perfect for daughter's first trip to NYC"
My mom, 8yo daughter and I stayed here during my daughter's first trip to NYC - the hotel was just right for our stay. "OK for Chelsea, but there are better in NYC"
The hotel is located right on the red line subway which was great. The staff allowed us to check in early even though they were booked the night before. However, the room was small for four people and the beds were small and not that comfortable. The plumbing fixtures in the room were outdated and gathering rust on occasion. "good location"
The hotel's location is great, close to subways and restaurants. The "breakfast" is no such thing: brown water that should have been coffee and a roll. Thankfully, plenty of eateries were nearby. If there was a coffee maker in the room, it would have been perfect. But overall we were satisfied with the room and hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location"
We stayed here with our 8 month old. We wanted to stay in the city to see the Christmas sights. The staff was friendly and helpful. They provided us with a porta crib and bedding without an issue. We've traveled through Europe and the US with our daughter and we were provided with everything we've come to expect. The room wasn't large but the crib fit […] easily and we were able to walk around it. It's always nice to not have the crib pressed against the bed. "Nice Surprise"
Have you ever experienced this at a New York hotel? The doorman welcomes you into a lobby that you find quite impressive in design, elegance and scale. "Wow", you say, "this looks like a really nice place." Then you enter your room and find you have to turn sideways to get past the bed in order to get into a bathroom that you can't turn around in. Well […] the Chelsea Savoy is nothing like that. From outside, the hotel is rather non descript. It took us a few minutes to find the door that leads to the lobby. Sorry, no doorman. Once inside we found a clean and well lit space with a small front desk and two elevators. Nothing fancy but totally adequate. Upon entering our room we were quite surprised by how big the room was. The bathroom was bigger than the norm as well. The room was very clean with a flat screen hdtv, a desk and chair, two full size beds, hair dryers, make up mirror and a view of the building next door. It was everything we needed as a place to call home during our visit to the city and the rates made our stay even more satisfying. The staff wasn't overly friendly but they were always professional and willing to help when asked. We'll definitely use this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It just didn't feel comfortable."
The furniture was somewhat dated, the AC did not work well and was tucked away in a corner of the room. I kept having to get up in the middle of the night to go stand in front of it to cool off. The carpet felt dirty, the halls were kind of dingy and the room had a slight musty odor. I think that it is really past time for hotels to charge for wi-fi […] access as well. The economy hotels offer it for free and the expensive ones, because they know the clientele can afford it still charge. That ship has sailed. It should be complimentary like cable tv. "Good Location but...."
We arrived with two kids (4 and 6) and 11 pieces of luggage and none of the two young men behind the counter moved to open the door or give us a hand with the luggage..... The carpet in our room was full with stains and walking barefoot made your feet turn black, very nice with kids who like to play on the floor. The bathroom was also not cleaned properly, […] we had to remove hairs from all over. The location is extremely convenient if you use the subway. There is a station right in front of the hotel. Also an evening walk to get some dinner is safe, nice and interesting. The breakfast is good if you like bagels and other bakery. We bought our stuff in a grocery store and ate it in the hotel. We could leave our luggage in the hotel until our flight departed and the ladies behind the counter were helpful to get a ride to Newark. I think it is too expensive for the quality offered and would not recommend it for families with smaller kids. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Go for the location"
The Chelsea Savoy is just OK in terms of room comfort. The beds are somewhat hard; the mattresses are on boards, not box springs. The size of the room is good by NYC standards. The location is outstanding, right next to a subway stop, and the neighborhood is nice and interesting, with options for entertainment within a short walk. If all you do is sleep […] and shower in your room, then it's a very good option, at an affordable price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Booked this property based on price, amenities, and location and was not disappointed. The room is mid-sized with a full bath, closet and plenty of drawers. We were really satisfied with this hotel, since it has a great location and close to interesting places. We used subway most of the time (red line 1,2,3) you can go to Time Square or downtown easily. "Great location, few frills but suited us fine"
We were only in New York for 2 nights, arriving very early one morning - before official check in time. The hotel staff were great, letting us leave our bags and even offering us breakfast. The location was ideal for us - a 5 minute walk from the 23rd St Station on E Subway line (cheapest link to JFK - only a 40 minute ride away) and 2 other subway […] lines. A 15 minute walk up 7th Avenue and you're in the heart of Manhattan - Empire State, Madison Square Gardens. 20 minutes and you're in Times Square. The immediate vicinity of the hotel is great - close to the High Line and trendy spots like Chelsea Market. Our room was clean, well equipped - if we had to find fault it would be with the size of the bath towels - which were teeny, but such a minor point! Breakfast was OK, bagels and coffee in a rather dingy dining room but at least it was included. We'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, but don't look for friendly service"
In many ways a quality hotel, but front desk is grudgingly given. This hotel and its staff seem to have aimed for better things, and to have given way to a kind of permanent sulk that expectations have not been met. Our room was spacious and clean, but a wad of ancient chewing gum on the carpet near one bed was disconcerting. Like most people, we didn't […] come to New York for the hotel, and our needs were met. "Family Trip - first timers"
We stayed at the Chelsea Savoy Hotel for 6 days/5 nights (was able to get a great bargain!) in a Quad room. The location of the hotel is somewhat central - about 10 blocks (10 mins) to Empire State, Port Authority, Madison Square Gardens, Times Square and about 5mins to Chelsea Piers and Meat Packing District. Alternatively, just catch a cab to Times […] Sand you end up paying no more than $10. The room itself was fit for 4 adults with big suitcases. During a previous enquiry the hotel is able to provide an extra cot for another adult; however, 4 people in the room was already pushing the space! We were provided with daily towel changes and room up-keep; however, unless you specify the room to be cleaned they do not change the bed sheets. We found a couple of the front desk staff unhelpful whilst others were quite helpful. Do not bother with the breakfast as it is just mainly pastries/bagels and hot drinks. There are many cheap places around for breakky. Overall I would stay there again. TIP: Get water food and snacks at the Whole Food Store a couple blocks away as the hotel only provides water once. "Chelsea Savoy Hotel."
I was here for 8 nights. I was lucky to get a room with an interior view so I had no street noise at night. The room had two double beds and was OK in size and was clean. The staff were not overly friendly but I only dealt with them twice and they were OK. I do have two issues: the bed mattress was very hard and uncomfortable since it is supported by […] wood rather than an under mattress; and there was quite a small amount of water that came out of the showerhead -- I really had to run the water for a while to make sure that I got rinsed off properly.
