We stayed 5 nights at the Doubletree Chelsea over Thanksgiving 2012. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would happily stay there again. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms aren't huge but are nowhere near as small as some have made it sound. There was more than enough space in our King room for 2 adults and 5 days worth or luggage. […] The rooms themselves were in good condition although the carpet and showers were starting to show their age a little bit. The bed was one of the more comfortable hotel beds I've encountered in a while. The hotel was fairly quiet although we were able to hear some construction noise from outside early in the morning and few late-returning parties in the hallway one night. The staff in the hotel was excellent. Everyone we encountered, from the desk clerks to the restaurant staff, to housekeeping was incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. David at the concierge desk deserves special mention for his helpfulness in arranging dinner for us before a show on Broadway. The hotel's location is convenient, with 3 subway stations within a short walk and plenty of places to eat nearby. In all, we found the Doubletree to be a perfect base of operations for a sightseeing trip and would be happy to stay there again. Read more

The room was very comfortable albeit small, but all amenities were there. Hotel lobby too small to be comfortable and talk with guests, but was okay. The room was the important thing.

Accidentally booked the wrong weekend, but the hotel staff worked with hotels.com and got us a room straightaway without any fuss at all. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and convenient for us. One issue was that they were working on the elevators so trips up to the room on the 26th floor were a little slow. Definitely recommend.

We stayed on the 24th floor and did not pay extra to see the empire state building. So instead our view was of the new WTC under construction. It was amazing. The room was great. Beds super comfortable. Bathroom was very clean. The room was tiny but you expect that in the city. Parking across the street. I will definitely stay here again. We got the room for a very reasonalble price! Check in was simple and a warm compilimentary chocolate cookie was waiting for us at the counter! Rooms were a little small but beautiful! Comfortable beds nice flat screen TV! Hotel was in a nice location! Overall a great weekend!

I loved my stay there. The beds were especially comfortable. As far as location, there is an N train and 1 train station nearby and I was in Times Square in about two stops. The only complaint was that the doors are thin and you occasionally could hear noise in the hallways. The front desk staff is VERY helpful.

This hotel was without a doubt the best location for locals and tourist alike. The 1 train was around the corner on W 28th Street and Penn Station was a few blocks up on 34th. There were PLENTY of options for food and shopping. Staff was extremely friendly and efficient. In double tree fashion warm cookies were provided, which were AMAZING!! My only complaint is that during my stay, someone's car alarm kept going off during the night. Also, the room was a bit on the small side. This hotel is in an awesome location right around the corner from Madison square garden and penn station. There is LOTS to do in this area. Although it is not IN Times Square, it is very close. I have read some of the other reviews and while some of the points raised are true, it did not bother me at all. For example, staff and guests of the hotel were talking loudly in the halls at times but in my experience they quickly passed and it did not impact my stay. My tv worked the first night and the second night it did not and the front desk told […] me there was a cable outage on the block? Not sure if I believe that since so many other people mentioned that their tvs did not work but on the other hand it worked the first night??? Not so great when I wanted to wind down before going to sleep however I had a great book to read so not a total disaster. Many people mentioned waiting for elevators for a long time but I did not have that issue. I lived in NYC many years so the neighborhood did not worry me but it is the kind of area that is very busy during business hours and just kind of quiet and deserted at night. I walked there alone one night and when I was out late the next night I simply took a cab to the door. Overall the stay was fine and I got a great rate for NYC! Read more
