"Close to just about everything"
I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn NYC during my stay, I attended the Kelly & Michael Show. The room was very clean upon arrival however, the beds were a little too hard. The friendly concierge administered a wake-up call for my room and he hailed me a taxi. The taxi was less than seven bucks! Its hard to find a good hotel online but I found a winner in the Hilton Garden Inn. It met my needs: a block or so from Penn Station, walking distance to Times Square and Rockefeller Center, and Central Park. The staff was friendly, room clean, great view of the Empire State building, loved the shower bc it was roomy with a tall shower head (im 5'11"). […] Our luggage was kept safe before and after check-in with a man on duty all day watching it. Bed was very comfortable for me and room surprisingly quiet to be in nyc. Stayed here for 5 nights while visiting NYC with a friend. The location was excellent. Just steps to Herald Square where you can catch all the yellow and orange subways. A quick block and a half to the red lines. Herald Sq. is a great little park for having morning coffee and there are a couple of street vendors right there to buy a muffin or bagel. […] The room was clean and not a bad size based on NYC standards. It would have earned 5 stars for accommodations if it had a seating chair. There was a desk chair, but no chair just for lounging, although I am not sure there was room enough for one. In room safe was convenient and free WiFi was a big plus. Beds were very comfortable and the pillows were awesome. Linen was fresh and clean. Rug could have used a good spot cleaning and was the only visual detraction in the room. Personal amenities were adequate. Bathroom was a good size with plenty of counter space. Instant hot water and I mean, very hot water. Only complaint would be the low flow toilet that we had to flush twice just to get the paper down. The staff was very helpful with any questions we had. We tried breakfast at the hotel one day only. It was okay, but overpriced even by NYC standards. Get a bagel off a cart or there is a diner a block away that is pretty good. I will definitely consider this hotel, for any upcoming stays in NYC. Great hotel right next to Macy;s few blocks to Times Square, fifth avenue, Empire State, etc. We walked to just about everything except Battery Park which we took the 5th avenue bus for $2.,25 you could also take the subway which is a few steps to the right as you exit the hotel. The hotel let us leave our bags in the hotel baggage room when we arrived […] early and after we checked out while we walked around the city. Nice modern rooms with a spacious modern bathroom. Room was very clean and typical size for a midtown NYC hotel. It's located 3 blocks from the Path station and 2 subway stops running downtown. "Hilton Garden Inn West 35th St. NYC - Herald Sqr."
Hotels.com gave me a great rate on this hotel right after NYE. It's located super close to the subway, literally steps away from the Herald Square stop. The hotel staff was really nice and accommodating, they let me leave my bags since my flight arrived very early in the AM before check-in. We got a room with one king and the room wasn't very large, […] but the bed was comfortable, everything was clean and fairly new and there was a flat screen tv with cable when we wanted to relax at night. The bathroom was clean and all the fixtures/shower were pretty new looking and kept clean and in good condition. The only drawback was that our toilet required multiple flushes and no matter how many times we flushed, the toilet bowl water had a yellow-tinge to it, which was strange and a bit off putting, but we just kept the toilet seat cover down to avoid reminding us of it. The key cards are quite sensitive and I had to go downstairs and get new ones twice during our 5 night stay so that was a bit frustrating trying to get our keys to work, but the hotel staff was always really nice about it and gave me new keys right away. Location is a big plus for this hotel since it's right next to a subway entrance and a stop away from Times Square. I loved, loved, loved our hotel primarily for it's great location (it was SUCH a convenience) and the cleanliness/quality of hotel for the price I paid using hotels.com.
