The Hampton Inn on 35th Street blends modern accommodations with affordability--as well as the consistent quality guests expect from a Hampton Inn. The building's location lends it extra appeal--the hotel sits a 5-minute walk from 2 popular attractions: the flagship Macy's Herald Square and the Empire State Building. An easy 5 blocks north of the hotel, at Bryant Park, you can hop the carousel, eat a picnic lunch on the grass (weather permitting), or venture to the east side of the park to step into the New York Public Library. Walk 5 minutes west of the park to feel the pulse of Times Square's beating neon heart.
Venture a little farther afield to see the playful Art-Deco crown of the Chrysler Building, or Gothic-style St. Patrick's Cathedral; each is within a 20-minute walk. (If you have a few minutes to explore St. Pat's, check out the altar of St. Michael and St. Louis--designed by the New Yorkers known for their famously expensive little blue gift box--Tiffany and Co.)
Before taking on the town, you'll appreciate the complimentary On the House® hot breakfast, a daily buffet that includes eggs and meat, plus bagels and danishes. And with Hampton's On the Run™ breakfast bag (available weekdays), you're covered if you have an early Midtown meeting. Complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the property is an additional convenience for busy travelers. Both the business center and the fitness center are open 24 hours, so you can tackle your day on your own schedule. (Coffee and tea are also available 24 hours in the breakfast area.)
After a fully packed day of sightseeing, come back to relax in the quiet of your room. Watch premium cable channels, including HBO, on your 32-inch LCD TV, or listen to your favorite tunes on the clock radio. Comfy pillowtop beds and blackout curtains help ensure a good night's rest. Bathrooms offer shower/tub combinations with curved shower rods for extra elbow room. Weekday mornings, you'll appreciate the complimentary newspaper delivered to your door.

Some of NYC’s best-known landmarks are north of 14th and south of 59th—or Midtown Manhattan. Its western half is home to Manhattan's largest venues: the Javits Center and Madison Square Garden. While the location is good (subway 20 yds from front door) & staff pleasantly helpful, this Hampton Inn needs attention: AC in room faulty, cracked tile in shower, mold on curtain & we spotted a MOUSE scurry across the ground floor dining area (as a result, we DID NOT avail ourselves of the "free breakfast." The room was super clean, staff was great, room size was just right for a New York hotel. They let me check in early and held on to my bags after check out since my flight wasn't for several hours. Only complaints are the bathroom that had inconsistent pressure and water temp and the cleaning staff is a bit noisy in the morning (they make up for it […] by being very friendly). Itravel to NY once a month. My last stay was at the Double Treein 29, a great hotel. I liked this one as much as the Double Tree. a lot of good stuff to say. Great service, super clean rooms, quiet (except for super noisy neighbors, but that is not the hotel's fault...) convenient. close to everywhere you want to go in NY, subway, great food, entretainment. "Loved it, great location"
You can't beat the location and the hotel was very nice, clean and up to date decor. Breakfast in the morning was great, no need to spend money and eat out. I'd stay there again. The only complaint is the elevators were super slow during the busy times of the day. Otherwise great place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It is was so good and next time,i will stay there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Rooms were very nice, just not real large, which is probably common in NY. I would definitely stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed on the fourth floor and heard large containers banging around down on the street (like those large dumpsters) three or four times during the night. I don't know if that was a one-off thing or if it is regular garbage removal or what. It was loud enough that it woke me up each time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in convenient location"
This hotel was perfect. It's a few blocks from some great food in Koreatown (on 32nd St). The hotel was clean and comfortable. Good breakfast with real oatmeal. I had some water on my bathroom floor when I got there, and they sent someone to clean it up immediately. Very good service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wrong room, damaged room"
I reserved a room with a King bed and arrived late after work to find myself assigned to a room with two doubles. When I called downstairs, I was told simply the hotel was sold out. When I asked why i hadn't been given the right room, the woman said again that the hotel was sold out. I asked what she could do for me and she said she could maybe change […] my room tomorrow if I wanted to pack everything up and try to change mid-day. This was impossible for me since I had a meeting at 8 AM in Flushing. When I told her that and asked what else could be done, she said "nothing", wished me a good night and hung up. Then, my TV didn't work properly (color was misadjusted), my shower curtain was ripped, the hot water was literally scalding so I had to take cold showers, and the coffee maker was broken. Too many things wrong for me to stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Free wi fi is key for business travelrs- which they would frame a channel guide for theTV - obviously not everyone is local- don't have time to channel surf to locate the weather channel or cnn. Also, breakfast is wonderful. Would be nice to have plastic trays to take upstairs so I could work, eat, & go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After arriving on a red eye, I was early for my business meeting. Asked the front desk if I could leave my luggage and sit in the lobby until my meeting. The girl was very helpful and got me my room instead. It was so nice to be able to freshen up a bit and have a cup of coffee. They offered me the breakfast service as well. "Great till check out time"
The overall stay was good. The morning of our check out the housekeeping lady in charge of the 17th floor on Christmas Day could not wait to get us out of there. She knocked our door at 8am then around 930ish she sent engineering to our room when we didn't request one. She was speaking Spanish outside our door, I speak Spanish understood every word […] even as they whispered, and she knocked our door again at 10:40am! Check out is not till 11am.... I worked late and had to spend Christmas with my family in a hotel..... That kinda just ruined it. Everything else was fine. The check in was fast and the young lady at check out was very sweet. "Good deal for the price"
This hotel exceeded my expectations, esp. with respect to service. The reception staff answered all my questions about the area, storing luggage the next day (they do), and billing for my employer, and had a relaxed, cheerful demeanor. The breakfast includes hot items (eggs, sausage), waffles, and plenty of healthy options (oatmeal, fruit). Beds were […] comfortable, wireless is free, and the decor is not fancy but attractive (contemporary). The only downside is that we were a couple and two children in a double room that was very compact, i.e. if someone were sitting at the desk, the only way to get to the closet was to climb over that person. But, it's New York and I expected a small room. The neighborhood is a mix of medium-scale retail and office space. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't expect to sleep"
Front desk was understaffed. Hotel was clean. The bedroom was very nice. However, I could hear the guests in the rooms next door all night and was woken up by this every hour. "Small rooms-old duvets"
This was the smallest hotel room Iever stayed in. Kind of comical actually. biggest complaint was the quality of the Duvet, the first one was very old and stained/dirty. My experience was great. Location, safety, free breakfast, free wifi, well-kept hotel. I needed a place that I didn't have to worry about or wake up feeling sick. The Hampton Inn delivered. "Hampton in Down Town New York"
This Hampton Inn is on 35th street across from Macey's. It is always very clean and the staff are more than accomodating and very friendly. There are many great stores and restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast they have every morning is very good, anything from fresh fruit to warm egg's and bacon or cereal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel for price"
I enjoyed my stay here. Location is fabulous, close to everything including the subway. Rooms were clean, and I was given the "Empire State Building View" that I paid for, which I know is sometimes a toss up. I also was checked in very early and I appreciated that given that I got off a flight at 4:30am and needed to get some sleep. The only thing that […] I was not impressed with was the overnight staff. I called the day before I arrived to find out if I could do an early check in as I was coming in on a red eye and they nice lady I spoke to said they do everything thing they could to get me checked in by noon. I thought this was a nice compromise. When I arrived though (about 6am), the night staff repeatedly told me that check in was 3pm only and acted as if holding my luggage for the whole day would be a burden - needless to say I wasn't impressed. I didn't expect to be checked in right away, but is it too difficult to say, "we will do everything we can do get your checked in early. Why don't you check back with us at 9am?" On a whim I happened to go back to the front desk at 8am to check my laptop only to find out from the very friendly front desk gentleman who had taken over that indeed my room was ready as early check in had been noted on my account the day before. The day staff were very friendly, but the night/evening staff, not so much. I know it's a tough time to work, my own husband works nights in hospitality, but you work in HOSPITALITY - act like it. My only other comment would be that the breakfast was just OK, although I was glad to have it available to me every day, even if I opted for just cereal sometimes. I would have liked something more simple like just scrambled eggs. Some of the egg dishes looked too processed to me so I skipped them. I also wanted to say thank you to the front desk gentleman (whose name I never got, so sorry). I received a huge box from a client (way bigger than I had been told I was going to get) and he did everything he could Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Small rooms, but very clean, centrally located and very friendly staff."
The rooms were a little small, but since I was there on business and not pleasure, that isn't a huge deal as I didn't spend much time in my room. The room was very clean and neat. The free wifi was extremely slow, however, I suppose that is to be expected when most hotels are sharing a single T1 between hundreds of rooms and everyone has wifi connected […] devices these days. "Hampton Inn - close to Penn Station"
I was a bit leery about my choice of hotels nearby Penn Station (as the selection is slim and the other hotels received poor reviews), but i was very happy with my overnight stay at the Hampton Empire State. The front desk clerk was friendly, easy to understand, and helpful; she even recommended some nearby restaurants to us. I stayed on the 13th (lucky) […] floor and found the outside noise not a problem. It was quiet on the inside as well. The hotel seemed newly renovated, and the bed was quite comfortable. I must say that it was a wonderful stay. I booked it thinking that it was the Hampton Inn and to expect somethings I didn't like because of the name but I was very much suprised!! The Hampton Inn provides a great hotel for the money. The price is great for the area, you are virtually next to everything! Great subway access, shopping! "Hampton Inn New York - a surprisingly nice find!"
this is a solid reliable little hotel, with a few nice surprises. It's a Hampton Inn, so it's not a top level resort. But the room is comfortable and clean, and the staff are really very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a nice surprise - much better assortment of food than one would expect to find in this class of hotel (fresh fruit, biscuits, […] eggs, cereals, etc.) - and the coffee was actually quite good! We asked to leave our bags for a few hours, and there was no problem to do so. The staff was delightful. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
