"Thermostat is decorative."

"Terrible front desk manager in the evenings."
I have stayed here before the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. My complaint about poor service in my last review stands true for this visit as well. It seems to me that no matter how much more you pay to upgrade your room it doesn't seem to matter. The only difference is 1 king as opposed to two queen beds in a room. I paid double the price […] for my "Deluxe King Room" and got a room half the size. My room was tucked in on a lower floor with an alley view could not open shades without being exposed to the people in the building across the alley. I was there to work on a over-sea's business deal. It took them 45 min to get my Internet working (separate charge for Internet). I had two cell phones neither had any signal. I could not get or make calls on my phones. When l asked to change rooms the manager had security take me back to my room to see if I had cell service. A waste of everyone's time. When it was confirmed he tells me there is nothing he could do. I had to leave the hotel and try to salvage my deal from the McDonald's w/free Internet. "WHY DID YOU SELL ME A ROOM WHEN YOU HAD NO POWER?"
I booked the room on Hotels.com then called the Shelburne Hotel the next day to confirm. They did not answer their phone all day so I had to walked 18 blocks to the hotel to check in and they had NO POWER! Nice lobby - only 2 elevators - very slow, corridors very narrow and dark, stained hallway carpets.The room over looks an airshaft, the bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen and no blinds on the bathroom window, the heat did not work until the whole building heat went on - the room was very cold until after 9pm and i complained but there was nothing […] they could do. Stayed at this hotel last week and recommend it. Was my first time in NYC and was bit apprehensive about where to stay after reading many reviews on many hotels. However turned out to be a good choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a very good size and clean with a very comfortable bed.
