Who needs a fitness center when you’re a short walk from 2 of New York’s best parks? At Central Park, a half-mile east, miles of trails offer breathtaking views of the surrounding skyscrapers. Popular walking and running routes include Central Park Drive (closed to traffic during scheduled hours), the path around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and the Ramble, which is also known for bird-watching. You can also rent a bicycle or rowboat at the boathouse. Or, if you’re visiting in winter, go for a spin on the park’s Wollman Rink; skate rentals are available. Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

Very nice hotel, location. Small room, but new and very adequate. Nice small, clean bathroom also. I will book this hotel many times! Thanks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cuts frills + costs for good place in area"
The room is incredibly small, there's no breakfast, and the front desk people tended to hang up on me seemingly abruptly (although after I had gotten what I needed). But if you're looking to save money and don't need anything more elaborate than free Wi-Fi, an iron+board you can borrow, and a nice neighborhood, then I would really recommend the pla […] ce. "convenient and perfect for my needs"
The hotel is located near several of my favorite resturantns and it is near public transportation (Bus and Subway) All I ask from a hotel is that is provide me with a bed to sleep in and a bathroom. That the Belnord provides.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy!"
I had a nice small cozy room. Needed a location to get away with my mistress. The room was incredibly small and so was the bath. But very clean. Love how quiet it was. If you need a bed, shower and a spot to entertain this is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price"
I am a senior woman traveling alone. This hotel was clean, quiet and safe. The neighborhood was great--close to the Met. Museum of Art and some great restaurants. The room is small and very cramped but for the price it is a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfectly plain and simple"
We wanted an Upper West Side location with a place to sleep and shower, and the Belnord answered our needs perfectly. It's very clean and well-tended with a polite and attentive staff. The bedroom was just big enough for a double bed, night stand, luggage rack and coat rack. The bath was good-sized with great water pressure and temperature. We enjoyed […] our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good value"
I was surprised at the size of the room; it was larger than other reviews had led me to expect. (The friend who I was visiting, who lives in New York and who looked at the room out of curiosity, was also pleasantly surprised.) For the rate I paid, which included a private bath (which I don't think all rooms have, so check when booking), I was very pleased […] with the quality of the room. Service was unexceptional, but I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, so I didn't interact with the staff very much. Those at the front desk were pleasant enough, though not warm (but it's New York). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fit our needs perfectly!"
Yes - the rooms were tiny but we didn't come to the city to hang out in our hotel room! Fantastic location: Located on W. 87th between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. both streets with plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops, etc. (ie. Bank of America ATM and Starbucks located right around the corner.) The 1 train (86th Street stop) located right around the […] corner. Great neighborhood feel away from the touristy areas, but easy access to those areas with MTA and even on foot. Always felt safe! The hotel itself was clean - lobby, rooms, etc. Again, the rooms were tiny but we were only there to sleep. We got a room with a private bath - bathroom was nice- small but very clean. There was a closet where we kept our coats and bags to keep them out of the way. Flat screen tv mounted on the wall. Overall a fantastic price for location, and a very decent hotel that fit our needs! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small but comfortable"
I thought this hotel was great! Yes, the rooms were quite small, but they were clean, with hardwood floors. If you are looking for a hotel with extra amenities and large rooms, then yes, the Belnord is not for you. But if you want a comfortable, well-priced (especially for Manhattan) room with a bed and bathroom, then it is your place. The location […] of the hotel was quite nice as well. Very close to many shops and restaurants, and I felt very safe even walking alone at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I was in New York on Business. I was in the room only in the early morning and did not return until late at night every day of the week that I was there. "European Charm in NYC"
We have stayed here many times. It is an excellent hotel, in the finest European tradition. If you are claustrophobic or plan on staying in your room to watch television, stay somewhere else. "Very clean, nice location and a good price!"
Our stay at the Belnord Hotel was completely satisfying. It was great with a 24 hour reception, and check-in and out was easy! No problems there. "great place to stay"
If you are looking for a reasonable, no frills hotel this is the place to stay. The rooms are small but they make the most of the space available. "Lovely little hotel"
This hotel was located in a nice, quiet area of NYC. It was very small but served my purposes well. Very nice and clean hotel. The staff was friendly. There was one thing in particular that stood out to my daughter and I (and what earned this hotel my superb rating)... I was staying there for 3 days with my teenage daughter, she is not the tidiest and […] we left the room each day with her clothing strewn about the place and her stuffed gorilla she had brought along just tossed to the side and forgotten.... when we would return after our day's adventures the room would be picked up, her clothing folded, and the stuffed gorilla lovingly placed on the center of the bed at the pillows. My daughter was tickled to see her beloved gorilla placed there and I loved that tiny bit of detail from the maid. They earned my return business the next time we visit NY. "No Frills - Very Small - Clean - Convenient"
Perfect for our needs. No perks, but that doesn't mean skimping on the basics. The room was only slightly larger than the bed, but that was fine for me; I was there to experience the city, not the room. An equally tiny bathroom, but very clean with a great hot shower. Just enough cable TV channels to nod off to at the end of the evening. Easy check-in/out. […] Lot's of local options for dinner, etc. And, just a short walk to the Beacon Theater. "Small is Beautiful -- Simply the Best"
My best hotel experience yet. Yes, the rooms are very small and their are few frills but the hotel is spotless and the staff is friendly and most helpful. And you can't be the location. "Great home base for the active tourist"
This is a cute, convenient, and decently-priced hotel. Just off the 86th & Broadway stop on the #1 subway (one block away). "Perfect for budget-minded traveler"
When I am Manhattan, I am hardly in my room so I just need a clean, basic to sleep and Belnord fits the bill. The place is clean, updated and 1 block from the 86th street stop on the 1 subway line. Rooms are small, but this is NYC! Lots of restaurants and bars are nearby, but in the more relaxed environment of the Upper West Side. My only complaint […] -- the front desk could have been friendlier and more responsive. I asked for extra blanket and a pillow -- received the blankets, never the pillow -- and the front desk employees just seemed cranky with the request. I will probably stay again. The staff of the Belnord were friendly, helpful, and quick. Being from Texas, the ice machine was appreciated and convenient. "Great value for the money"
The Belnord is a budget hotel, and thus offers few amenities. (Don't expect to have a closet, iron, or alarm clock.) It was perfect for my one-night stay. My room and private bath were extraordinarily clean and quite cozy. The rooms are also quite small; this is not a criticism by any means, just a fact. Because the building is an old one, this isn't […] the quietest hotel, so be prepared and bring ear plugs if you want to sleep. Staff were distantly polite, but again, I wasn't expecting to stay at a resort or even a chain hotel. The Belnord's in a great neighborhood, conveniently located a block from the 1-2-3 train. And only a couple of blocks from Central Park. I'd definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Extraordinarily clean, very nice staff, great location (close to the 1 line, too). The room was tiny with no view, which is only a problem if you plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel. "A great little room in a great location...."
I took my 17yr old daughter on a shopping trip to NYC, we stayed just one night. Upon arrival at the Belnord we were immediately impressed with how modern and nice the small lobby of the hotel was. Everything looked to be new (paint/decor/floors). The service was great, we were allowed to check in early which was very appreciated. We booked a single […] Queen bed room with a private bath. The room was very small but very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was a decent size, and extremely clean. Overall service was good, we asked for extra shampoo/pillows and both were provided immediately. The hotel is located on the corner of West 87th and Broadway which is an amazing part of the NYC. Lots shopping, cafe's, restaurants just walking distance. I would recommend this hotel for any brief stay, the rooms are small but the place is very clean and well kept. "Loved our stay!"
Loved this hotel! From previous reviews I knew the room would be tiny, and it was! But was VERY clean and comfortable. Decor was current and nice. If rooms were bigger, this hotel could easily charge much more. Don't expect to move around much and if more than one person to a room, you will have work around each other. My daughter and I were in NY for […] a quick 2 day sight-seeing trip and only needed the room to sleep in one night. It was fine for that. Only complaint is that it advertises 3 blocks from Central Park and it is ... but they are 3 fairly long blocks. Other than that, loved this hotel and HIGHLY recommend. There is a CVS store nearby, bring snacks and drinks as there is little nearby and vending machines at hotel are minimal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
